Hey we have some questions about what exactly Radqueer is, we are new to terms like that and are curious about it, I’m not sure if this is the right blog to go to about this but it was the most popular one I saw so I thought to test our luck
I’ve seen paraphilias be intertwined with it as well and I’m genuinely just wondering like how does this all work? I’ve seen basic terms like Transage and stuff but how does it work? What does the term or community stand for? /gen
I hope nothing comes off rude we are genuinely curious to learn
hello anon!! sorry im late to your ask, i wrote a huge wall of text b4 but tumblr deleted it all.... so take a seat cuz this is gonna be a loong read
the definition of radqueer that is widely accepted in the community is the ideology that all identities are valid, including the ones that are left out of most queer spaces for being "too problematic"
and thats where paraphilias come in! they are often viewed as "harmful" and "predatory" by the public due to the disgraceful fame that the big three have: pedophilia, zoophilia and necrophilia. just by hearing those words gets you grossed out, right? thats because of how sex offenders ruined the outsiders point of view, making everyone believe that pedophiles, zoophiles and necrophiles are automatically seeking to act on their fantasies, when its simply not true.
and the radqueer community embraces those who are oppresed by society for being perceived as "monsters", hence why paraphilias are commonly associated with radqueers
along with paraphilias, we have some other minorities that are often associated with radqueers, such as transids, muds and fults. ill explain the last two in a separate post if youd like, lets focus on transids for now
transids, short for transidentities, are commonly defined as an identity that someone identifies with that does not align with the identity they currently have. it is quite similar to transgender, tho there are people (me included) that believe the two should be totally separated. lets check what some of the most popular transid umbrella terms mean:
transrace: someone who identifies as a race that is different from the one they have since birth. for example: person A was born white, but identifies with black culture and wishes to be black. that could make them a transblack person. transrace is often shortened as trace and may be used to refer to ethnicity and nationality too in some cases
transabled: someone who identifies with a disability that one doesnt bodily possess. it can be a physical disability, a developmental disability, an addiction, a personality disorder... lets see an example: person B was born without autism, but displays behaviours that are quite similar to autism symptoms, although medically theyre not diagnosed. that could make them a transautistic person
transage: someone who identifies with a different age than the one you chronologically have. it can be an age younger than you are, or an age older than you are. it can be specific, such as identifying as 11 years old, broad like identifying as 13-15, or even broader such as identifying as all ages that encompass being a teenager. see this example: person C is 18, but they dont feel like theyre 18. they believe that the way they behave and think is more like a 13 year old person than an 18 year old, so they could be considered transage
again, im so sorry for being late to your ask. i hope you stumble upon this again, thank you for trusting me to enlighten you on these topics, means a lot to me :-D hit me up again if you have any more questions!!
