she has the best home remedies for everything: common cold, a self-titled ‘love potion’ that she swears by, soup that will warm your cold, dead heart. you name it, she’s got it.

has definitely started one too many family arguments just because she can — i envision that she’s not really on the Best of terms with her parents and even though there’s love there, they’ve disagreed too many times and aren’t some close family unit. depending on what her siblings have grown up doing, i imagine varying degrees of closeness with rosalie, but growing up, she hung the stars in their eyes and them hers. she adored being a big sister.

doesn’t necessarily want kids again. winnie was her one and done, her unicorn, and she doesn’t know if she could work past the scar tissue. loves kids, though, will gladly babysit or volunteer at any school gathering.

she has definitely forgotten to pay her electricity bills on more than one occasion, for no other reason than the fact that she likes any excuse to use the kerosene lamp or light a candle to get around the house. then someone told her that after so many times, the power company would permanently cut her off and that that was frowned upon, so she learned her lesson, but still.

can play the banjo, piano, and the triangle.

part of the dirty dozen of windsor bay — specifically, the ford family, with her great - grandfather's iron fist and her parent's demand to live above expectations. the eldest sibling that never quite fit the mold of her family that ran off the second she had her high school diploma in hand, in search of the life she was meant to find, not the one prescribed to her. fell in love, found a happiness in simplicity with her partner & daughter. her daughter passes away at age seven and rosalie's life flips upside down, causing her to head right back into the lion's den. opened a beer garden & brewery, flipped her house in the mountainside, and has been trying to accommodate to a life that she never thought would belong to her. even though it's been ten years, she's still trying to find her way.

Not every night was soaked in the bittersweet brine of her seventeen year old memories. The fact any of them happened to be would be completely attributed to her being back in her hometown, against every guardrail and fail safe and plan she'd ever set for herself. The suburbs sat comfortably in between her home and the heartbeat of downtown, the coast where she worked — to find Rosalie there wouldn't be entirely uncommon. And yet, while she's just finishing up talking with the friend of a patron down at Pint House, eyeing up their kitchen to see if their dream renos are doable or just dreams, Rosalie found herself feeling totally dumbstruck and out of place the second she walked past The Book Nook. With a perfect coinciding of its owner stepping out of the door, directly in her path. "Oh — shit," Rosalie swore, immediately in the way and almost bumping right into Vivienne. "Sorry." Their eyes locked, and she may as well have been thrown by her navel back to high school. "Hey," she said, a bit softer, enough to make the corners of her lips curl upward. "Good to see you."

The clock slowly ticked on while Phoebe trudged along, trying to find things to keep her occupied. She already refilled every single condiment dispenser, napkin dispenser, and salt and pepper shakers. Her eyes glanced over toward the clean silverware bin. She could roll some silverware, but that was her least favorite task to do and she usually left that for the newer people in training. She was about twenty rolled forks, knives, and spoons in when the jingling from the front door snapped her out of her boredom. Her features instantly lit up as she spotted a familiar face. Rosalie. The older woman had become such a pariah of comfort in the blonde's life. She had become a sort of maternal figure that she could depend on when needed. "Hi beautiful," Phoebe cooed as she scurried over to Rosalie. "You have no idea how happy I am to see you right now. It's so dead in here and I have nothing left to do for the next three hours other than roll silverware. So thank you for saving me." After grabbing a menu and ushering the woman to her favorite booth, Phoebe slid in across from her and made herself comfortable.

Errands stacked deep on Rosalie's to-do list, and the brewery was in capable hands even when they weren't resting in her own, which meant that by the time the sun started staining the sky in a menagerie of bleeding colors she was all but given out and given up on the idea of making herself dinner. She tucked into Sunrise on the way back home, knowing a slow weeknight afternoon meant she'd be able to cruise in and out. The thought of takeout evaporated from her mind when she walked in and almost immediately saw the little blonde thing, Phoebe, the spitfire Rosalie'd come to enjoy the company of any time she came in. If anything, Phoebe was further evidence that Rosalie was a magnet for cubs without their mother bear, something shining in that girl's eyes that Rosalie didn't know how to stay away from or tone down if she tried. Even without a child, the instincts didn't suddenly disappear.

"Hey, baby love," Rosalie crooned right back, shrugging out of her jacket. "You shoulda flashed the bat signal if things were that dire in here, yeah?" She couldn't resist the tease as Phoebe showed her over to a booth, Rosalie dropping her purse and jacket inside unceremoniously before sitting down. "Did everybody else on staff go home, or..." She trailed off, taking into the account it appeared to just be Phoebe in the main dining room of the diner.

The library wasn't exactly Rosalie's idea of a haunt — it wouldn't make her short list or her long one either, but her college roommate had gotten the better of her with pestering recommendations and she felt almost obligated to give one a go in order to silence the coaxing. Woman on a mission, she strode right up to the check-out counter free of a line with her card in hand. Her face split into a smile upon seeing Ava working, a blast from the past in every sense of the word. "I don't think I'll ever be used to seeing you back in town," she said by way of greeting, warmth saturating her voice once she had Ava's attention. "Working in a library, yes, but definitely not this one. I was supposed to get post cards from New York or somewhere... not here." The teasing lilt in her voice gave her away, a fade in her picking fun as her eyes skimmed the shelves behind the counter. "Any chance you could see if my on hold's here?"

from the moment she stepped into the beer garden and brewery, gwyneth was enveloped in an atmosphere buzzing with laughter and chatter, instantly confirming to her that this was the perfect spot to kick off her first night out in town. the venue was lively with a crowd of patrons, their voices blending into a harmonious symphony of good times. with her heart set on mingling and meeting new people, gwyneth wasted no time in finding a spot on one of the few bar stools still unclaimed.

perching herself there, she was quick to catch the attention of the bartender with her enthusiastic gaze and animated hand gestures in greeting. ❛ howdy, how ya doin'? ❜ gwyneth's eyes sparkled as she spoke with a friendly nod, texas accent infusing warmth and charm into her words. eager to delve into the local experience, she placed her order with the kind of confidence that comes with being in the right place at the right time. ❛ i'll have the most popular drink on the menu, please, and thanks! ❜ her voice carrying a tone of excitement that matched the drumming beat of her hands on the counter. as she awaited her drink, gwyneth takes a moment to look over her shoulder couldn't help but feel slightly grateful for the serendipitous decision that led her to this vibrant establishment. ❛ how long has this place been up'n'runnin' for? it's pretty hoppin'! ❜ wyn asks the woman behind the bar while turning back around.

A Texan accent's somewhat out of place in Windsor Bay of all places — it catches Rosalie's attention as she slips behind the bar, weaving like a fish behind Ricky's steady routine of filling glasses and cleaning empty ones. She's at home in every corner and crevice of this place, the very one she built up, her regulars stretching onto the farthest branches of her family tree and a new face like a falling leaf, seeking for a place to land and call home. Her doors, in that sense, have always been open.

She catches the compliment along with the request for their most popular drink, an in-house draught. It curls the edges of her lips into a smile, warmth no matter the lengths it reaches. "Seven or eight years now?" Rosalie fires off, time a muddled constraint that no longer holds any real linear direction for her. "Started as the beer garden, brewery's the newer development." There's a knowing gleam that ricochets from her green irises, more than just a catch of the light. "You new to town?" she asks as though she already knows the answer.

"Hey!" Isabela called out, running out of the hotel. Coat on and bag in hand, her shift for the day had finished and she was eager to act like a normal person rather than a manager. "Do you want to go grab something to eat?" She asked once she had caught up to them. "I've just finished work and I am starving."

The brewery comfortably nestled in the hands of beyond capable employees and a few hours of sludging through payroll and schedules left Rosalie's legs itching for a stretch. The four walls of the office tucked in the back of the brewery wasn't where she was meant to spend most of her time, anyways — she opted to leave her car parked in the lot and take advantage of the clear evening, walking past Harborview on her way for something to appease the gnawing in her stomach. She paused in her tracks at the sound of a voice, trailing after her down the pavement. Rosalie glanced back over her shoulder, waiting long enough for Isabela to catch up. "C'mon," she said, head tipping in the opposite direction. "Food Stop was calling my name, but if you can think of something better, we'll take your lead on it."

being an older sibling is like. you've never known a life without me. mom yelled at me and it taught her she never wanted to yell at you. I painted my room purple and grey and then you did too. we live in the same house but I haven't spoken to you in months. I don't know your favorite color. I saw it was going to rain so I picked you up from school on my way home so your books wouldn't get wet. i was so worried when you woke up sick when you were three. you don't remember being sick. mom and dad made their worst mistakes with me and I'm glad they didn't make them with you. I'm doing everything for the first time so you won't be in the dark. I don't know any of your friend's names anymore. I used to know them all. if something happens to mom and dad you won't have to worry because everything will fall to me. you don't like to be home alone but even if you don't see me just knowing I'm there makes you feel better. at least that's what mom told me. you still give me jars to open for you because you can't quite get them. I only see you during dinner. i'd never even think about missing one of your concerts. I stand at the counter when I eat and now you do, too. when offered a selection of books you picked the same one I did when i was your age. I'm terrified you compare yourself to me. I love you.
