🚀 my self insert is RTE-09, they / them; they're a Decepticon space shuttle and a scavenger with a digital faceplate and an attitude! RTE is the Transformers universe variant of my fursona, Rat King :]
✈️ their conjunx endura, my fictional other, is Blitzwing! his continuity redesign is primarily based on his appearances in Transformers Animated and Bumblebee (2018).
RTE and Blitzwing are a chaotic pair of conjunxes who fight like they've been together for six millennia and love each other like it's the first day they met. they bring out the best and worst in one another; they're devoted to each other like they are wreaking havoc on every bot around them, no matter their alliance.
the RTE continuity is a combination of the Transformers One, Transformers Animated, and Bumblebee (2018) universes, with a little sprinkled in from others like G1 as well! tread carefully to avoid spoilers as needed!

OUHGHHHH RTE LORE... tragically despite still being completely fixated on TF I have not had much time to think about new lore... but I shall provide some rambles anyway 👉👈
one thing from my drafts is how much RTE loves nature, specifically on Cybertron, which I think I've only mentioned in passing before? and the hardest part of being exiled was less about "we lost the war" and more "I'm never going to see any of the places that made home special again" and lowkey I think that left RTE with severe depression for. A While
I also haven't mentioned but I think this plays a key role in their relationship to Earth, because RTE initially is so indifferent to it. Blitzwing is naturally curious about things, but it takes even him some coaxing to get RTE just to humor him and explore a little. at some point in time I actually see Prowl being a big factor in shifting RTE's mindset about Earth, like something he says or shows them makes them realize there's some familiarity in the nature. they don't necessarily become friends but they do have sort of a bond about just sitting in the middle of nowhere watching creatures, and if RTE finds a creature in trouble they always turn to Prowl to help, because they trust him.
(this also means RTE is extremely bitter about the s3 finale, because they do respect Prowl and if they'd been present for the fight maybe things would have gone differently. and that's a significant push for their alliance with Team Prime from s4 or so)
speaking of s4 one of my big hangups is with your girl Blackarachnia, cause she was robbed and I want to do something with her, but I feel like have zero knowledge of Beast Wars impacts my ability to do so ??? I think I've seen mention of it somewhere, but I like the concept of her coming back with the Maximals, and it turns out they kind of found family'd her, even if she's still manipulating them to fight for her. like I have a scene in my head of her losing to Team Prime (or whoever by this point) and realizing the Maximals genuinely care about her and that's all she really wanted. idk she just deserved better !!!!!

also fun continuity fact which I don't recall if I've mentioned but Blackarachnia was actually Airachnid's protegee ✨✨ I have. most of the logistics for that one. tl;dr Airachnid was trying to get Sentinel back but ended up with Elita-1 instead, so she made do.
OH SMALL BIT from drafts which I almost forgot about but Bee has a lil trauma for flavor ✨✨ cause I mean. how bad would it fuck him up to go through all of BBM only to spend the next however many years alone on a strange planet trying to find the rest of his team all with the constant feeling of being watched. like he sometimes catches a glimpse of red eyes in the dark and he's looking over his shoulder every waking moment. he's only annoying as a coping mechanism from whatever that all was 💖
Starscream would be offended if I talked about anyone else first. RTE is sort of like a loyal pet to him tbh. he was always good to them before Megatron took over, and RTE of course still follows Starscream completely. a lot of his patience / favor towards Blitzwing is partially because of RTE! even if they can't do much against Megaron directly, Starscream at least knows RTE won't stab him in the back. there's a few funny moments in my head with the two of them. Starscream is the only one who can actually order RTE around, RTE constantly mouths off to him but it's a friendly banter kind of thing instead of just aggravating Starscream, they're friends !! who enable each other 100% LMAO
of course there's Shockwave, who RTE took one look at and decided they're siblings now. they're the resident cryptids and often call to gossip, specifically about Lugnut, and RTE is the only one really allowed into Shockwave's lab. RTE hates Shockwave's complete loyalty to Megatron, which causes some significant arguments, but RTE won't hesitate to rub it in Lugnut's face that Megatron likes their brother better.
there's also Soundwave! my main trouble with him is I haven't figured out how to explain TFA Soundwave if Soundwave already exists but occasionally I think about it and rn I'm just somewhere like "Megatron was trying to make a clone or perhaps just a cassette to have something similar to his most loyal follower" but who knows where that will end up. anyway, RTE and Soundwave are good friends despite allegiance issues, and they enjoy a good music listening session together! RTE is also fond of the cassettes :] (I have an entire WaveWave sideplot to which RTE is only somewhat relevant, but I shall spare that ramble XD)
everybody knows RTE and Lugnut absolutely HATE each other LMAO. RTE rolls their optics into the sun every time Lugnut starts up about the glory of Megatron, Lugnut doesn't trust RTE's loyalty and tells them so constantly. RTE only somewhat tolerates him because he's the kindest to Blitzwing. all of this makes it infinitely more important (or perhaps just amusing) when they actively team up to threaten Sentinel. they agree on one (1) thing and it's FUCK that guy we HAVE to kill him.
aaaaand, well. there's Blackarachnia. they don't spend much time around each other. RTE will never forgive her for what she did to Blitzwing, they don't know the reason and they honestly don't care. they'll barely even speak to her, just glare or hiss and make sure to stand between her and Blitzwing any time they're in the same room. actually... not that she's particularly revealing about herself, but RTE knows next to nothing about Blackarachnia in general, and they do not care to learn anyway. RTE knows how to hold a grudge, especially towards anyone who hurts their conjunx. they don't soften towards Blackarachnia at all until the whole s4 thing and that's like, just a teeny bit.
I feel like I'm missing someone but I'm pretty sure that's all of the main high command... I don't know enough about Strika to say for sure but I do feel like she and RTE would get along on the battlefield, perhaps less so the rest of the time because of the whole Lugnut thing LMAO 🤔

it's a lot of fun comparing how RTE handles Cybertron and Earth vs Blitzwing's perspective because it reallyyyyy points out some interesting differences (and yet similarities) between them imo<3 like, RTE doesn't have the xenophobia like so many Cybertronians, they just don't care. species like humans are complicated in ways RTE doesn't particularly like. by this point they're tired from the war and loss and near-loss, they want to watch animals going about their lives. it's simple and beautiful in a way. Blitzwing enjoys the creatures too but he's curious about everything, perhaps because he's always been the alien-- the curiosity comes naturally when his entire life with a spark has involved learning about new cultures.
(not to say that RTE has no love for humans, of course! they don't want any living thing to suffer. they just... aren't really interested in all the drama that comes with that level of sentience. Cybertronians are helmache enough.)
(sometimes I briefly wonder if I'm reading too much into one thing with Blitzwing but like. no, I know I'm right. I could write a whole analysis about his endless curiosity. maybe I should. he's balancing the jaded worldview RTE has picked up, and maybe fixing them a little too. hm. another ramble for another post.)
oh my god I have SO many thoughts about RTE and Prowl. they constantly end up in the same places, trying to get away from everything, and it drives them both nuts because they can't stand each other. RTE knows what Prowl is (after all they are literally built to sniff out energon, they know he's hiding red optics) and Prowl hates RTE's carelessness about collateral damage, especially since he's under the assumption that they only care about that just like any other Decepticon. I see the tension coming to a point of them eventually snapping at each other, scaring off whatever creature they were watching, and realizing they do have something in common. so they start to get along a little better, and maybe talk about things, like what does Prowl (and Blitzwing) see in this place, and why does RTE seem less interested in fighting than their peers... sometimes
Prowl is lowkey hard for me in the continuity because I hate characters getting a bad ending but the payoff for his is so vital... augh
(it's weird having this seeming back and forth on RTE's characterization because yes they DO love fighting and blowing shit up and yes they DO need a fucking break from it all and idk if that. makes sense. it does to me because that's me lmao but does that make sense. "fighting is fun but fighting the war isn't fun anymore I want to go home" y'know ??? mannnn I have so many character analyses I could be writing...)

I don't have all the logistics quite worked out because it's one of those kinks in the TF One to TFA timeline knowledge things... but the long and short of it is, since Airachnid just sort of dipped at the end of TF One, I have decided she was biding her time during the wars and once she found out Sentinel was still alive (without any memory of who he used to be) she wanted him back (to what end I also do not know). and to get him back she had to lure him out, so the plan was to get him on some dead planet with an old Decepticon warship and a forgotten stock of energon. except Sentinel brought friends and Airachnid ended up catching Elita-1 instead. she made do just fine, maybe an abandoned, bitter ex-Autobot is better for taking down an old enemy anyway. the sideplot is still very much a work in progress I still have sooooo much logistics work to do on this one,,, but it exists... Airachnid isn't really plot relevant beyond this, I just wanted an explanation for both spiders existing in the same continuity and it feels like a logical path to change Elita-1 into Blackarachnia. and give her more unresolved issues about being accepted for who she ends up being 🤔 girl I promise I'll fix you but I HAVE to ruin your life as much as possible to get there. trust
oh my godddd it's SO hard when the fandom pmo so bad but I really do love my continuity Bee !!! he's a little guy with SEVERE trauma and bad coping mechanisms which APPARENTLY involves adopting the feral rat that wanted him dead for like 2 seasons !!! he's been through All The Horrors™ and keeps being a sweet but sassy bot who talks with music and finds a way to befriend literally anyone :((( he's absolutely still a little shit but in the BBM way not the TFA way. I want him to get himself into trouble not be obnoxious ☝️ TFA Bee and Sentinel both are on the same page for me as "I can't fucking stand you but I'm studying you under a microscope bc there's things I can work with here" unfortunately. I just need the little yellow compact to be endearing in a way that makes RTE NOT want to kill him bc they absolutely would not hesitate with TFA Bee as he is,,,
like one thing I notice in Starscream's general attitude towards Blitzwing is he's very... patient. he doesn't understand the triple changer at all but Starscream still knows Blitzwing is competent and gets shit done. maybe Screamer is sympathetic (they're both powerless against Megatron, and look what he did to Blitzwing), maybe he just sees a valuable asset down the line. that's already canon, RTE just adds to it-- Starscream does not understand their infatuation with that mech, but he can be nice to his favorite scavenger's conjunx. okayyyyy maybe I need a character analysis on Starscream tooooo. I have a LOT of thoughts about him augh.
I am a huge subscriber to WaveWave in every continuity and mine is no different 😭😭 I have this whole thing about their dynamic from TF One when Megatron takes over and actually pushes them into a rivalry for his favor (it's very Cyberverse), which is never resolved before the Decepticons are exiled and Shockwave goes on his spy mission. RTE had always been the wingman and hoped they would get back together 😔 they get their opportunity when everything goes south for Shockwave and, instead of calling home and getting no answer, Soundwave picks up! I don't have anything past that yet, but it exists, they'll be all good by the end of s4 ✨✨
also RTE knows all about Shockwave's little fling with Blurr and absolutely rubs it in his face any time he tries to get on them about hanging around Team Prime. do not tell your sibling things you don't want them to give you scrap about, in confidence. Blurr is fine btw he's just going to have Trauma from being cubed.

How did RTE-09 and blitzwing met each other for first time?

fuck yes it's time to regail the BlitzRat origin story !!! for the uninitiated, the RTE continuity is primarily made up of TFOne, BBM, and TFA, with whatever else I want added for flavor. including "Blitzwing is a former Quintesson drone" because unlike Hasbro I'm not a fucking coward 💖
so, following a sideplot about Sentinel Prime giving the Quintessons the equivalent of a Cybertronian anatomical diagram, the Quintessons added Suspiciously G1 Blitzwing Shaped Drones to their side of the war (the second Quintesson War following the fall of Sentinel + rise of Megatron). long story short, RTE-09 is doing their scavenging job following a battle when they encounter one such drone that somehow has a Spark. they can't stomach the thought of abandoning a Spark to die, drag what's left of the drone back to Decepticon camp, announce to (completely uninterested) Megatron and (visibly confused) Starscream that they're keeping it "for intel," and spend the next several years rebuilding the frame enough to stabilize the Spark.
at some point in this process yet-unnamed Blitzwing gains consciousness, and once RTE hooks up his speech synthesizer he spends quite a bit of time threatening and swearing at the scavenger in Quintesson and broken Old Cybertronian. RTE is not only unphased but rather amused, and doesn't hesitate to return it. this of course is one of two main ways they bond (the other being music). because there's something wrong with both of them 💖
RTE isn't in Velocity cause Blitzwing deserves his episode to shine but you can bet they heard all about it when Blitz got back to the cave (complained for HOURS) (love him)
honestly RTE isn't in this one a whole lot, since they spend most of the time with Starscream. they're on his shoulders pretty much the entire sequence in the woods, and Starscream wants his favorite scavenger to help track Megatron's signal. RTE is fine with this since they assumed Starscream was dead all that time-- it's good to see their friend! and as much as they can't stand Lugnut, he can be trusted to keep Blitzwing in one piece. usually.
(of course, RTE was busy putting Blitz back together after the underwater fight. once he was fixed up RTE went off to get all the details of what happened with Starscream during his absence. so they know he supposedly killed Megatron.)
"I DID IT MYS-- SAW it myself." "nice save, dumbaft." "SILENCE"
there's not much else to add besides Megatron absolutely knowing these two are up to no good now that they're in the same room again. RTE lets Starscream do the talking, and they just sort of lurk in the background.
aaand when Bumblebee shows up, Starscream lets RTE shake him around like a chew toy for a while. incredibly funny knowing Megatron is being reassembled like 3 floors down.
(this is also a necessity for the plot cause well. RTE probably would've stopped Blitz from handing over the key)
and we can't forget both 'cons cornering Bee on the edge of the roof with RTE going "please let me offline him. PLEASE let me offline him" with that deadly look in their optics (they've been hunting him for YEARS. THEY NEED THIS) (DAMMIT MEGATRON)
unfortunately RTE does not get to delete Bee from the server and they have to let Starscream get himself into trouble; RTE only needed to learn once not to get directly in Megatron's way.
ngl I really haven't sorted out where RTE would fit into the fight scene 😔 like they could absolutely have their berserker moment (missile fire from atop Blitzy's tank mode) but after that? they'd love nothing more than to give Bee what for after he insults Blitz, there's just not the right placement for it.
but they've got an engine out at least by the end of the fight, if not sooner. they're more likely to take an early exit in a losing battle, and once Blitzwing is down, RTE is out. okay byeeee ✨✨
put Decepticon Air on (again) for enrichment and I just love putting RTE in there. like of course they were there but the specific instances are just 🤌
RTE has to stay in a cell at all times. even when the others are allowed out for interrogation. because RTE can and will find SOME WAY to attack Sentinel. they HATE that mech. it's honestly hard to get anything done with the constant muffled swearing but Sentinel just tries to talk louder.
as soon as Swindle frees Blitzwing the triple changer goes "do you have a key for that or do I have to break down the door myself" in regards to RTE's cell. give him his rat. Swindle does have a key and knows better than to try bargaining about it. Blitz already beat him up once and RTE has a nasty reputation. RTE is on Blitzwing's shoulders immediately and hisses at the other mech before settling slightly.
Lugnut's line "that can be arranged" actually goes to RTE because they want Sentinel dead. also that's a terrifying image because these two can't STAND each other. the biggest mech in the room looming over you with the scavenger on his shoulders threatening your life? no wonder Sentinel called Optimus for help.
Swindle's comment about retiring to a beach island gets an amused huff out of RTE. they don't elaborate on this but it's because they're well aware of Nebulos. the chaos conjunxes already have a retirement island there. what? RTE made good money before Cybertron went completely to shit and that was 5 million years ago. they actually have a very high net worth, they just don't talk about it. like ever. only Blitzwing knows about this.
RTE has a CRISIS about leaving Swindle to guard the Autobots but also the scavenger can't. really be trusted with them unsupervised. and they really don't want to be out of conjunx range. they had to be in separate cells for like. days. horrible.
everyone already knows this but Blitzwing's "surrender or I will blast your leader to bits" has RTE on his shoulders looking a little too eager at the prospect. please do it anyway? pleeeeaseeeee? he does have to tell them no, much to their disappointment. (so the triple changer IS capable of telling RTE no sometimes!)
RTE licking their chops about the snowcones. that's all.
RTE snarling through the muzzle during Sentinel's parade. they probably have to be chained in place tbh. they're still trying to kill him. the scavenger will absolutely never let the "Blitzy" comment go. never.

oh absolutely! Blitzwing generally does the planning, since RTE is not quite as keen on figuring all that out. and here's the thing about RTE (and myself)-- they're happy to be surprised by the events, but they do not like the entire outing to be a surprise. Blitzy knows to tell them to plan for a day out-- the rest can be a surprise! and Blitzy loves to plan events like this. he's chaotic organized, making plans and changing them 400 times and then switching the order of events even during the date! sometimes RTE has to reign him in a little cause he gets excited and then just kind of stuck hehe 💖
Blitz on the other hand, well, just depends on what kind of mood he's in. usually surprises are good, other times he will drag his pedes and complain the entire way out the door-- though he won't refuse if RTE says they're going out. unless it's cuddles and a movie. Blitzy is ALWAYS eager for that when RTE suggests it (very frequently, I might add). and regardless of who starts it or how reluctant the other is, they will always be perfectly happy together by the end of the night 💖

can he. technically have this? not really. would he if possible? yes! while RTE would be the sugar fiend by a mile, Blitz wouldn't turn it down. he would probably just prefer salty or spicy treats 🤔

this one definitely depends on both their moods. if it's up to RTE though, they will more likely choose to stay in. that's not always the case, of course, however it's notably more common since the Decepticons were exiled. RTE has warmed up a lot to Earth, but Cybertron was home for millions of years before and after the war started-- it's hard to fully accept a different planet after so long. and to be fair after days being out on recon, scavenging, or just fighting, RTE tends to be done and want nothing more than snuggle time while Blitzy rambles or they watch something.

number one, and most obvious, is just plain being interrupted. interface is very private for my BlitzRat, and interrupting can be dangerous, because one of them will get upset enough to start biting and not in a fun way.
it's becoming less of a challenge over time but technical malfunctions will do it. especially having to work out, well, everything with Blitzwing. there's been a lot of trial and error and the occasional frame or transformation issue still pops up which turns into "okay how the frag do we fix this" more often than not.
Blitz used to and sometimes still does get insecure about it but RTE just finds it amusing and doesn't mind. they may not have known they signed up for this, but half the fun is learning how to put your conjunx back together correctly!

frame worship, if that counts 💖 they're just obsessed with each other. it's fun finding all the little sensitive spots. and Blitzy does need the reassurance sometimes.
sparkbonding is important to them too, I think. it's such a place of vulnerability for both of them, and it's easily the kind of intimacy that brings out their gentlest touches. RTE is especially careful with Blitzy's spark, and he's hypersensitive to it (which is always funny considering he's damn near as immortal as Starscream atp). meanwhile handling RTE's spark is always an experiment-- sometimes soft touch is better, sometimes they want Blitz to get in there with his claws a little bit. they're not quite as sensitive in general compared to Blitzwing, but he knows what works and what doesn't depending on the day. RTE is every bit as moody as their conjunx, and it's worse the longer they're separated. they actually get angry a lot easier than Blitzwing does, too. the raticon also refuses to ask for help, and does fuckall in the way of self care. they try to be reserved but have the worst poker face known to Cybertron.
Blitzwing, besides the mood swings, is the complainer ever. he can do anything when he puts his processor to it but getting him to do so willingly is difficult at best, depending who's asking. he's rash and would rather punch his problems with someone or something than fix them.

you would be correct! but here's the thing-- RTE is a gigantic robot with really big paws. they have the delicate touch for small parts on bots as big as they are. rats are way, way, way smaller. rats to RTE are the size equivalent of ants to us.
RTE would and does rescue rats, and really any critter without hesitation. but to nurse them back to health, they go to the only animal expert they know-- Prowl. he's smaller than RTE. he knows more about how these organic creatures work. even if he can't help them, he can most likely find a human who can. and despite their many, many differences, RTE can trust Prowl to do this.
Blitzwing has... mixed feelings on the topic. he's fine with RTE helping Earth creatures-- he's curious about them, too, and it makes his conjunx happy! but going to an Autobot about it? Blitzwing really doesn't understand it. there's humans for that. why would RTE go to an Autobot at all?

oooohhhh, this is a tough one. they'd definitely both do it, but while the fight settles when Blitzwing does it, it actually ends the argument when RTE does it. they don't verbalize it a whole lot-- they feel it, a thousand and one percent, and they show it in everything, and Blitzy knows it without question (even if he sometimes does need reminding bc he worries about it after the experiment). but RTE doesn't say it a lot. so they really mean it when they say it. it will stop an argument immediately.

honestly if I think about it this probably happens somewhat frequently with both of them, all things considered. this may or may not be part of the reason RTE refuses to recharge. mostly they'd have to hold the other down, since a manic response is going to involve fighting.
RTE usually comes out of it quickly; the more contact they have with Blitzwing, the faster their processor understands there's no danger, so it helps if he lays on them. they're easy for Blitz to contain, and most of the time they settle before getting their teeth out.
Blitzwing is much harder to help-- when he gets manic like that, he's swapping faces too fast to actually process anything, which just makes it all that much worse. RTE is strong enough to hold him but it can take a lot of work to get him to calm down. talking to him and hanging on to him until he registers it usually works fine; though sometimes it's bad enough that RTE basically has to forcefully spark bond so he reboots. it's a whole process just getting Blitzwing's spark chamber open in that state and that makes him worse before it gets better. they're... still trying to figure out some other method to help.

RTE had work to do, scavenging the remains of a recent battlefield, but they were reluctant about Blitzwing-- better to leave him safe at home, or take him with? stubborn Seeker wasn't keen on being away from his rat partner, though. that was Blitzwing's first experience with RTE's work, at least that didn't involve finding scrap parts to repair him, and how they both found out about the other's cannibalistic tendencies. yes, Blitzy's always been like that.
with the surface being fairly quiet, RTE thought they should make the most of it, and showed Blitzwing around some of the planet. he's one of very few 'cons who knows RTE's old hiding places and best scavenging grounds and all their smuggling tunnels. he also knows their favorite perch to look out over Cybertron.

they're two chaotic peas in a pod-- they always have some snarky comment, they make excuses to avoid work, they fight for fun, they're overprotective and clingy, they're loud and wild one moment and soft and domestic the next.
but they do get under each other's circuits all the time. they're both headstrong and won't back down and that makes them butt helms constantly. they know exactly how to set the other off and do it for kicks. RTE's loyalty to Starscream and the Decepticon cause (as it used to be) can conflict with Blitzwing's reluctance to go against Megatron, and either results in more fighting or one being a bad influence on the other.

hehe, yes and yes. RTE in fact loves to pick up Blitzy. it's a way of showing off to him, and he often gets flustered about it, which is an absolute win for RTE. they may be small but they are still a shuttle! not that RTE would want to do so for very long, because he is reasonably heavy with an extra mode's worth of kibble and a second engine, but carrying Blitzwing for a couple minutes or a short distance, no problem.
RTE is like holding a couple of grapes lmao sometimes Blitzy picks them up with one servo and holds them way over his head just for funsies. they like to be tall!

I know there's a bunch of logistics because their alt modes are built for flight in different atmospheres but that won't stop me from saying they figured out ways to go flying together. sometimes Blitzwing does tricks to show off (he got that Seeker in him), sometimes they challenge each other to freefalling and other stunts, sometimes they have a destination in mind so they're more focused on flying straight(ish), sometimes they just spin around each other. and of course Blitzwing does the shuttle carrier thing because that's the whole reason I picked RTE's alt mode.
