You know how Draco visited Harry’s train compartment at the start of books 1, 3, 4, and 5? I’m just thinking about him walking along the corridors, looking into every single window searching for Harry whilst racking his brains for something obnoxious to say to him what a loser ALSO, DO YOU THINK he searched the entire train for Harry in Chamber of Secrets but he never found him so he trudged back to his own carriage all distressed

So true. Literally in 6th year draco stops paying attention to harry and he freaks out and figures out he must be a death eater in like .2 seconds bc he knows that only a life or death mission from Lord Voldemort himself could stop draco paying attention to him

As readers we only know what Harry notices/pays attention to, and although we have no idea what color Cho’s eyes are or what Zacharias Smith’s voice sounds like, we know a lot about Draco Malfoy. Consider. We know:

His hair is blond. But not just blond. It’s a particular, white-blond color that gleams in the sunlight. 

And very sleek, but loose enough that it falls around his face if he moves around vigorously enough.

He has grey eyes. Not just grey, but specifically light grey.

Harry also frequently describes them as glittering or sparkling. 

He presumably has a sweet tooth as he gets regular sweets packages from home delivered by his eagle owl.

He has very pale skin which takes on a grayish tinge when he’s sickly.

He tends to narrow his eyes when he’s angry.

He doesn’t blush when he’s embarrassed but he does flush - just enough to give his skin a faint pink tinge. 

He tends to move his hands a lot when talking animatedly. 

His speech has a very specific drawling cadence and tone that makes his voice easily recognizable (to Harry at least).

This is all in canon.

Meanwhile, even though Harry and Ron are together practically 24/7 for seven years, we only find out that Ron’s eyes are blue halfway through Deathly Hallows.

the discussion of older lgbtq people using queer as a personal descriptor is such a messy conversation because at the same presentation I heard a 60-ish year old woman say queer was an empowering word that most lgbtq people of her age used, while a 79 year old man said he would never call himself queer because of the bad associations he had from having it used towards him as a slur, and you know what? they accepted and respected each others’ preferences and moved the hell on. it turns out older lgbtq people are not a monolith and have individual feelings on the word queer, yet can still act maturely and respectfully about it. where did we go wrong?

respect peoples’ decision to use or not use queer. it’s that simple.
