Family had always been so important to Happy, but his family had also always looked so unconventional. He'd gone through many seasons of his life feeling miserable and isolated, and in those moments especially, he had always vowed to do everything that he could to acquire a family that was full and present when he was older. Keiko was a dream come true, and Elle was a piece of the puzzle that he hadn't realised he was missing before the pair had met. He couldn't imagine his life without Elle, and he hoped that Keiko and himself would never have to know such a life ever again.
"Go for it," he nodded his head, a bright smile on his face. "Considering I have my mom around to help me out with the laundry, I have absolutely no reservations with getting her into painting already," he joked. He hoped that Elle knew just how opposite the dynamic with his mother was, hoped that she had noticed the way that he closely cared for his mother in every way that he could, rather than sticking her with chores such as the laundry; the only thing Happy directly asked his mom for was to watch Keiko, but that was a pleasure for the grandmother, so he never felt guilty for it at all.
"Your pieces will always be priceless to me." Something nagged at Happy for only a moment before he remembered what he had planned on telling Elle earlier in the day. "Oh! Did you see that they're looking for more local pieces at the gallery?" He asked them. "Sneeze - I mean, Simon - was talking about it at practice. They want to do this whole exhibit on Cardinal Hill for the summer break. You should submit some of your work for display, it'd easily be the best from anyone who's ever stepped foot in Cardinal Hill." Happy was awfully biased, but he wasn't mad about the fact at all.
"I definitely don't mind, thank you," he took the diaper bag easily. While he always appreciated their help, Happy tried his hardest to pull more than his own weight; having a child was no joke, and while he appreciated any support that he could get, he never wanted to become lazy in a way that might have effected his relationships with anyone negatively. "Course you can." He didn't say it, but Happy was secretly thrilled that Elle would be riding with them to the restaurant. It's not like it was a long journey there, but even so, the extra few minutes had him feeling excited and grateful. "Hope you don't mind if Keiko drives, though. She says I drive like her Granny, and she's so impatient that she doesn't let me behind the wheel anymore," he joked.
