DAVID
❝ i didn’t put you here ! this is your dream ! ❞ and it’s horrible , the way things are going . i can see that , i can see that ! this place feels like an avalanche , cold and hot and painful all at the same time ( you ever get burned by snow , drowned in excess ? ) . his powers aren’t refined . they aren’t capable of handling this . are , should be . aren’t , can’t be ! ❝ listen , you don’t understand ❞
a piece of the dream - wall crumbles beside him , and he flinches , ducking out of the way and throwing himself toward the tinier version of that mountain of a man . at least this one can’t pummel him into a pancake! maybe ❝ i followed you . i got curious and i followed you , okay ? ❞ it’s hard to shout over the physical world manifesting in this dreamscape . ❝ just let me talk to you ! OUT THERE ! ❞
This is your dream!
Those four magic words finally break the spell. Yes, of course. This is a dream. One he’s had enough times before to know that it likely wasn’t caused by the telepath’s inference. Plus, the way he’d been acting so far... As much as Cain hated to admit it, it was pretty clear there was likely no malicious intent behind the other man’s actions.
“You get one minute,” He growls as the last of the dream crumbles around them, and they’re both forced out. Cain’s in a state of confusion for the first few moments after he wakes up, but then he’s scrambling to get his helmet back on. Even if he believed the telepath, for now, he needed to take precautions.
“One minute kid!”
