Spoilers! I watched requiem for a dream this week and damn that was a heavy movie. I mean I expected that but Jesus. It had some really cool asthetic though. It was a really visually pleasing movie. The mom really bummed me out the most. Since her addiction started out so innocent. All that being said the super dramatic ending kind of pissed me off. So the two main males are driving to Florida to pick up more heroin and one of the guys arm is super infected. The make up on that was really good btw. So they go to the hospital and the doctor looks at it and immediately calls the cops without even treating him. So both of them end up going to jail. Okay... I know this was supposed to be the big climax but it would never have happened that way. For one thing you can take your friend to the hospital even if they're on drugs and the cops won't be called. And even if they were the person taking the friend wouldn't go to jail. And on top of all this they didn't even have any drugs on them so there would be nothing to warrant them being taken in. Also the fact that they send them to jail without treating his obviously infected arm... Even if they did get arrested they would still be forced to give him treatment. The explanation for all this is probably supposed to be that they're in racist Florida and one of the guys is black but still. A better way could have been that the friend left the guy at the hospital, his arm still gets amputated, and he goes on to get more drugs and then gets arrested... Like that would solve everything the epic climax would still be essentially the same and would make a bunch more sense. All in all it was pretty good until the end. Side note the one time they show weed the guy starts hallucinating off of one joint... Other than that I think most of the acting of them being high was pretty good. Bur I can't say for sure since I haven't tried heroin
