     does minho mean anything by it? possibly not. maybe his sense of humor is just naturally mocking. newt doesn’t know him well enough yet to tell the difference, and he’s too agitated to feel anything other than like he’s being made fun of. either way, angry heat rushes to his face, and his hands ball themselves into fists by his sides of their own accord. he’s not dumb enough to let them go flying (yet), but damn if his nerves haven’t stopped going haywire since he woke up in that cursed box and this gobshite isn’t helping. “what bloody questions do I need to be askin’ to get some straight answers ‘round this place then? since YOU seem to know everythin’ there is to know.”

     in a later age, when the novelty of their prison has worn off, and minho has seen just as many greenies come as gladers go, he will only be able to greet a newbie’s righteous anger with a weariness that matches its magnitude. now, however, he’s more than happy to push some buttons ( perhaps he’s taking out his frustrations on the wrong person -- minho never claimed to be wise ). “y’need to be askin’ how you can help around here, shuckface.” the slang is new, and you can still tell even when he says it, not quite natural just yet. “we’re all stuck here, and we’ve all been stuck here longer than you. so when you’ve got something novel to say, i’m all ears, but until then your complaining isn’t helping anyone. save your breath.”
