I took break from gaming/fromsoft for like a year and a half to finish nursing school and start my job, which meant that I also took a break from your work. Now that I've settled in, I've had time to replay elden ring and reread your fics and my god. Your writing and your art are both so beautiful. It's been a pleasure falling in love with your works again! You are so talented and it is so lovely to be able to enjoy your content. I was so happy to see you had posted content for the DLC! Trying not to sound like too much of a crazy fangirl but you definitely inspire me to work on my own writing. I hope life has treated you well so far!

that rykard wip of yours... that's exactly what i needed to share my brainrot *laughs* anyway, brainrot incoming: if we go with the idea that young Rykard was inspired by Messmer's "blasphemy" and copied his snake swag, do you think he also saw Messmer had a hot dancer and went like DAMN I NEED ONE TOO *little Tanith shakes her fist at Huw as he's about to leave the stage to become a knight* when i grow up i'll get myself a lord too, just you wait! i might or might not cringe later because that's how my brain works, but this has been brewing for a while and it's entirely your fault, so bear the fruits XD

anon this is SO specific to my fic but yes, headcanon accepted, especially since dancers are canon in Elden Ring and Tanith is confirmed to be one. i also really like the image of little Tanith learning to dance somewhere like Belurat, and later trying to pass some of that tradition on to Rya (if only to fix her posture).

i know this ask is old but because of it i’ve been incorporating a bunch of Tanith and Huw in various dance gestures/outfits in my random doodling and occasional studies so here is a selection for you. 

lots of La Bayadere and Scheherazade in here, though upon reflection Tanith is definitely Dance of the Seven Veils-adjacent (before receiving Rykard’s head on a platter, Salome-style).

Summary: Trina pleads her case in the Shadow Lands, and Messmer learns things about his mother’s golden kingdom he’d rather not know. Generally canon-compliant, with excessive worldbuilding for the DLC during the crusade era. The shipping subplot remains for the lovers of the liege/knight dynamic, but gets a little messy.

I think it should be studied why, in the Souls lore community (specifically Elden Ring because I’m most familiar with that one), you can say the most batshit theory about how two unrelated characters were actually allies the whole time and this is the “Real reason Marika shattered the Elden Ring” and there will be at least 100 redditors willing to die for you cause; but if you even think about two characters being in a non straight relationship or god forbid are a bit out of the gender binary, they’ll look at you like you just grew a second head.

Here are some examples from Finlay and Huw’s fextralife comment sections (I don’t want to go on Reddit for this) and try to pay attention to the like ratios

Finlay:

Her’s are way more vitriolic in being “anti-headcanon”. These guys are a minority, but wow are they loud

Huw:

There’s less of it, especially compared to what Finlay is dealing with, and I was wondering why the mlm ship was getting more support until I saw this and realized a lot of people ship them for the bit and the bit alone

The main difference here is that Finlay is getting targeted for “Can’t a knight just be loyal to her lady” reasons, while Huw is getting “Can’t two guys just be friends” comments. It’s all very intriguing to me.

I would be fine about people not caring for a ship, it’s just that these people are trying to claim that these are head canons gone too far, and not just valid interpretations of the text. This is the “read the item description and figure it out yourself” game. Grow up.

But he cannot fool himself: he is captivated by this creature. The soft smile, the lull of her voice. How she slanders his bloodline in the compassionate way one breaks sad news to a companion of the heart. The less she fears him, the closer he wants to bring her, until she is kneeling at his feet so that he may stretch out his arm and take a handful of her spun-silk hair, pluck the lily from her ear and wonder at how it does not wither.
