To me that means expecting excellence and having standards of behavior that do not change based on a child's abilities, disabilities, or circumstances." Ruth Carter-Hickman, a native of San Diego, California began a Television Production career while pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Media Arts from Clark Atlanta University, featured in the hit movie “Drumline” starring Nick Cannon. While pursuing her Master of Fine Arts at Loyola Marymount University, Ruth worked in many roles for over several years in the entertainment industry, such as a 2nd Assistant Director, on numerous commercials and television shows. Ruth began to combine her passion for the entertainment industry and education in 2007 when she was employed by the Garden Grove Unified School District and has been excited to teach since. In 2010, Ruth Carter joined the Coastline ROP team, is a Professional Photographer/Videographer and truly enjoys sharing her knowledge of Visual Imagery and Multimedia Communications with her students at Fountain Valley High School and Marina High School. In 2016, Ruth taught as an Adjunct Professor at Felician University, Communication For Educators and Supervised Student Teachers. Ruth currently teaches CTE (Career Technical Education) Television Production, Video Production and Digital Photography at Patriot High School in Riverside County. Ruth continues to travel and shoot photography and videography globally and has always believed and continues to share her motto with her students: “Education Is The Voice Of Freedom”
