Reasoning behind this becoming a necessity below if you find yourself curious:

Due to my father having to recently undergo intense surgery, money has been super tight since it's had to go towards that; other issues arising during this already very delicate time ( my phone back shattering and the pipe to our sink leaking ) - my fiance having a fulltime job which doesn't make much beyond being able to afford groceries and my many job applications going unanswered despite me putting them out daily ( disability harder to get than I'd hoped leaving me no choice, really. ) SO here I am.

The  familiar  notes  of  Mariah  Carey  only  made Sera  want  to  dig  herself  a  deeper  hole.  God.  She  was  ride-or-die  for  The  Emancipation  of  Mimi,  but  he  wasn’t  wrong.

“Don’t  do  that!  You’re  gonna  summon  her,”  she  groaned,  rolling  onto  her  back  and  covering  her  face  with  both  hands.

Kill  him?  Absolutely  not.

“We’re  trapped  in  that  iced-out  hell  together,  pal.  Hate  to  break  it  to  you!”

Despite the HONEST belief she had in words spoken , they are meant halfheartedly: Marceline not one to judge him for his lifestyle choices regardless of the GNAWING in her stomach at the thought of another sliding their card &. eliciting a smile from him at the sight .

There was no room for JEALOUSY within the purview of their ARRANGEMENT , the one she'd come to enjoy the company of despite her best efforts NOT to a BUSINESSMAN at the end of the day — Marceline a paying customer . . . ?

“Only  when  they’re  the  ones  who  wanted  to  do  the  shopping,”  Taeyang  returned  without  missing  a  beat,  his  playful  smile  never  faltering.  “I  usually  do  plenty  of  shopping  for  myself  with  my  earnings.  Sometimes  my  friend  tags  along,  but  he’s  always  got  his  face  buried  in  his  phone—where’s  the  fun  in  that?”

Marceline’s  expression  hardly  shifted,  but  Taeyang  wasn’t  blind.  Who  would  want  to  dwell  on  the  thought  of  their  companion  amusing  others?  The  fact  that  he  was  paid  didn’t  change  much;  her  money  answered  his  needs,  yes—but  spending  it  on  him  was  also  meant  to  soothe  some  unspoken  void  within  her.

Just  what  that  void  was,  perhaps  neither  of  them  knew  yet.  But  Taeyang  didn’t  mind  her  company.  He  enjoyed  it.  Which  was  why  he  slipped  closer  without  hesitation,  an  arm  sliding  around  her  waist  to  draw  her  into  his  side.

What  might  have  been  presumptuous  with  another  woman  seemed  welcome  with  Marceline.  He  dipped  his  head,  nuzzling  lightly  into  the  warm  silk  of  her  hair.

“Y’mean  it?  Then  let’s  go  find  your  dress  first,”  he  said.  “Wouldn’t  wanna  risk  some  old  bat  snatching  up  something  that  was  clearly  made  for  you,  y’know~?”

Kang-dae  doesn’t  know  what  he  could  possibly  have  done  wrong.  Sometimes  it’s  enough  just  to  be  born,  he  thinks.  Enough  to  resemble  some  rich  bastard  who  chose  the  cheapest  form  of  loyalty  after  discarding  the  rest.

His  mother  had  it  all  wrong.  If  there’s  a  single  part  of  his  life  he  hasn’t  come  to  regret,  it  would  be  a  miracle.  There’s  a  wound  between  them,  one  he  can’t  locate.  It  goes  deeper  than  his  eyes  can  see—murky  with  a  darkness  that  unnerves  him.  It  tells  him,  you  don’t  belong  here.  But  how  is  that  different  from  anywhere  else?

There’s  nowhere,  nothing,  that  would  mourn  the  space  he  leaves  behind.  Maybe  he  shouldn’t  have  run  that  day.  His  childish  self  still  wants  to  clutch  the  knife’s  sharp  edge.

Owen takes a step back unconsciously, lowering his arm that seemed to carry a couple of important documents and files. For a second he has half a mind to push them onto her and avoid unpleasant faces by shoving the responsibility onto her. Shaking his head, that cruel thought exits his mind rapidly, his purple eyes shifting their gaze towards her. Thus, his following action is done without much thought. Even he does not know if it will have the desired effect; he does not bother to go out of his way to interact with people, but is painfully aware of his shortcomings. Of when his words seem to sting unnecessarily people who deserve none of that.

Gently using the papers to tap the crown of her head, his shoulders drops, as a resigned sigh leaves his lips. Owen has hundred of doubts on whether this behaviour is proper even. Would Sera see the meaning behind his words and understand that he.. apologizes for his harsh words? ❝ Where do you want to go? I'll take you there. ❞ Somehow, it was laughable and anyone who would hear those words coming from his mouth would think the same. His gestures were slightly awkward, but Sera wasn't exactly unpleasant, he did not want to antagonize her to the point she cried or feared him. She was... polite to the point it reminded him of a cornered rabbit trying to survive. Perhaps that resemblance made him a bit softer. ❝ Do you need a tour of this place? Or advice on how not to get lost? ❞ He imagined for an outsider, that mansion was like a labyrinth.

Jumpy—yes,  he  was  right.  There  was  no  denying  she  was  behaving  exactly  as  he  said.  Still,  Sera  did  not  think  another  apology  was  the  right  move  in  the  wake  of  his  observation.

“Wouldn’t  it  be  more  foolish  to  stand  like  a  deer  in  the  headlights  if  something  bumped  you  in  the  night?”  The  words  came  rhetorical,  and  in  a  voice  not  her  own.  Fortunately,  she  caught  herself  in  time.  That  earlier  slip  of  her  true  accent  had  been  nothing  more  than  shock  bleeding  through.

Owen  offered  her  something  genuine,  and  she  clung  to  the  mask.  How  typical.  It  wasn’t  as  if  they  owed  each  other  anything,  after  all—and  that  truth  gave  her  comfort  when  guilt  tried  to  slide  between  her  ribs  like  a  blade.

Grey  eyes  peered  up  at  him  from  beneath  the  documents  resting  atop  her  head.  Harmless.  Mea  culpa,  he  told  her  in  his  own  way.

“A  tour  would  be  nice,”  she  managed,  her  own  way  of  accepting  his  small  grace.  “Veronika  has  had  so  much  on  her  plate  lately.  I  didn’t  want  to  take  her  away  from  work  only  to  give  her…  well,  more  of  it.”

Her  gaze  drifted  toward  the  files  in  his  hands—catching  the  irony.

“If  it’s  a  bad  time,”  she  added  quickly,  “maybe  a  rain  check?  You  must  have  been  on  your  way  somewhere.”

"Only one? You're stingy."

Muyang is greedy at the very core, and while he complains— the man leans in to take the offer. A gloved hand snakes up the back of Lingyun's neck, pulling him closer before placing a soft kiss against the other's lips.

"Are you worried that someone might come in while we do this? I doubt they would even dare to mutter a word because it is us."

He is searching for his mouth again. Muyang tries to sneak another kiss in. One is not enough when it comes to his Cloud.

The  pressure  of  Muyang’s  touch  is  welcome.  He  closes  his  eyes  without  thought,  letting  the  other’s  gloved  palm  guide  him  forward.  One  kiss.  Painfully  brief—his  mouth  still  tingling  with  the  ghost  of  his  lover’s  warmth.

He  wants,  desperately,  to  be  as  stingy  as  he  pretends.  The  truth  is  another  animal.  Receiving  love  is  like  pressing  blood  to  a  starving  predator’s  tongue.  He  wants  to  sink  his  teeth  in.  Instinct—his  own  gloved  fingertips  rise  to  cradle  Muyang’s  face,  drawing  him  closer  for  a  second  kiss.

This  is  why  his  father  called  him  weak.  Why  he  deserved  every  ounce  of  scorn.

“I  don’t  know  whether  to  admire  you  for  courage  or  scold  you  for  shamelessness,”  Lingyun  retorts.  Another  kiss,  despite  himself—the  third,  and  then  the  fourth.  “…  You’re  always  trying  to  get  me  in  trouble.”

Not  that  there  was  anyone  left  to  condemn  them.

Muyang is batting his long eyelashes at @rvinfall. He wants something, and he is sure that Lingyun knows exactly what it is.

He  knows—enough  that  heat  begins  to  spread  across  his  cheeks.  Lingyun  cannot  believe  he’s  giving  such  a  look  while  they’re  supposed  to  be  working.  What  if  someone  comes  to  deliver  a  report?

…  That  face  of  his  is  disarming,  though.  His  fingers  twitch  against  his  will.

“Quickly,”  he  mutters,  leaning  across  the  desk.  “Just  one.  I  mean  it  this  time.”

well , this was certainly going better than arys had anticipated . being down a banana was a far better turn out than losing his hand , or 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙙 . nose crinkles as he offers a tight smile , eyes flicking down to the man writhing beneath the stranger's heavy boot .

❛ um , not always , ❜ the wolf offers a breathy laugh , hand retracting and rubbing his neck , gaze now shifting more worriedly , and rapidly , between both men . ❛ so uh , you always just , step on people in the middle of an alleyway ? ❜ panicked , he squats down , offering the victim of the other's ire a soft reassuring look , as if to say 𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 , 𝘪'𝘮 𝘥𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘪 𝘤𝘢𝘯 .

looking up , there's a flash of recognition in arys eyes , wolf to wolf , an unexpected and potentially 𝙙𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙨 common thread . quietly arys stands , groceries readjusted against his chest , remaining calm despite the situation . he could just leave [ keep walking towards the shop and forget this happened ] but that's not who arys was . ❛ any chance you'd leave the poor fella alone ? ❜

The  recognition  is  mutual—Alexei’s  otherwise  casual  expression  hardens  at  the  eyes.  Wolf  to  wolf,  they  both  understand  how  quickly  this  could  turn.  The  warrior  has  no  doubts  about  his  own  abilities;  what  unsettles  him  is  the  unknown.  What  kind  of  dog  are  you,  hm?

Uncertainty  doesn’t  erase  the  potential  for  danger.  Cornered  mutts  lash  out  all  the  time.  They  also  get  put  down.  Alexei  would  much  rather  avoid  that.  Not  just  because  of  the  inconvenience  of  brawling  another  big  man—but  because  of  the  principle.  Watching  some  kid  hauling  groceries  try  to  play  hero  for  a  piece  of  shit  would  never  sit  right  with  him.

“More  often  than  you  do,  certainly.”  He  polishes  off  the  banana  in  two  heavy  bites,  flicking  the  peel  into  the  nearby  bin.  All  the  while,  Vasily  claws  at  his  boot  in  desperation,  bug-eyed  and  panicked.  The  pathetic  warbling  noise  he  makes  pisses  Alexei  off  enough  that  he  presses  down  harder—too  hard—just  for  a  beat.

“Stop  being  dramatic  down  there.  Ah.  Him,  not  you.”

Vasily  coughs  when  the  pressure  finally  eases,  though  still  can’t  speak.  Just  how  the  soldier  prefers  him:  silent.

“No  can  do.  He’s  earned  every  bit  of  what  he’s  getting.  Don’t  waste  your  pity.”
