“well, i’m becoming an empty nest mom sooner than i ever thought i would, and it’s very sad– maybe i need to have another baby too…. playdates sound so cute,” jinkyung retorted with a cheerful laugh. “congrats– my little maknae is so grown up now…”

“more content for your show?” lucy jabbed with a giggle. “please... i wasn’t even that young to begin with. you coddle me,” she teased

“lucy, it’s fine. i can watch gabe,” hojung assured his stepmother, holding his arms out to take the baby. “you need some sleep. and he’s just been fed. i can handle anything else that goes on.” @rvlucille​

she rubbed her face, taking a minute to process what hojung had to say. “are you sure? he’s a little fussy right now,” she mumbled, before relenting and passing him gabriel. “let me get some tea, and we’ll see how he does for the next half hour...”

“guess how many emails i woke up to trying to get an exclusive,” andrew said with a laugh, bringing his wife a mug of coffee and setting it on the bedside table. gabriel was a few months old now, and the couple was just now slowly getting their sleep schedule back. hojung had been an incredible help, with jinhwa and nathan doing what they could when they weren’t working. all things considered, andrew was probably the happiest he’d been in a long, long time. he lowered himself onto his half of the bed, reaching to take gabe from lucy so she could relax. “radio shows… variety shows… return of superman… even got a couple of offers for our own independent reality show to document the lives of a full family of idols….” @rvlucille​

she was half awake, gently stroking her baby’s head as the sunlight shone through the window. she wasn’t sure how much sleep she’d ended up getting-- it wasn’t much, but it was more than in past weeks, so that was something. “too many, i’d wager,” she retorted, letting andrew take the baby and then resting her head on his shoulder and closing her eyes. “how dare they suggest i do a reality show? and step on jinkyung’s toes? i could never...”

“if you insist. i just.. i know how much your career means to you, lucy. i don’t want me being there to be taken as an antagonistic move or anything,” he answered, hand resting gently on her baby bump. “for what it’s worth, i suppose… your tenure in the industry is a good sign.”

“me leaving majesty was an antagonistic move. me going on hiatus to travel was an antagonistic move. if this is that, it’s not my first, and i’ve survived,” she told him, straightening his glasses and kissing his cheek. “it’s a good sign, as is yours. and i’m to the point where fanboys without the emotional maturity to want to see me happy aren’t part of my demographic.”

“with the whole solo debut thing… he had to work so hard and put his ass on the line just to get me a good song, and he had to do it with barely any time. and then that song got bad reviews. i just feel awful that i stained his reputation like that.”

“jinhwa, love, everyone knows why that happened,” she assured her. “higher was at fault for rushing your debut to compete with sola’s, and the public sees that. and the song got good reviews-- it was the music video that was put into question. i promise you, you’re not hurting his reputation or career in the slightest.”

“you’re smarter than all of us combined, lucy. you’re the smartest person i’ve ever met. if it’s genetic, this is gonna be a baby genius,” he laughed. “i mean…. i don’t remember much about when hojung was born, but by all accounts, hojung hated ginny for the first year of her life.”

“that’s a stretch, considering you’re a literal child prodigy and your father is one of the best musical minds of the past few decades, but i’ll take it,” she laughed. “well....maybe that’s just how he comes off. until recently, i was convinced he didn’t like me...”

“of course she’s excited– she loves you,” nathan answered his now step-mother earnestly. “and she already knows she’s dad’s baby still. she’s old enough to realize that that won’t change. she’s pretty smart.”

“she is smart-- that’s something all four of you have in common. i’m sure it’s genetic, the new baby will be just as smart,” lucy laughed. “i guess i’ve just heard horror stories of the old youngest being upset about a new baby and got worried...”

“i don’t know. i feel like i’ve caused dad plenty of trouble this year already…”

“jinhwa, sweetheart, why do you feel that way?” lucy asked, taking her hand gently. “you’ve done nothing but work hard and do incredible things.”

“are you sure you want me to sit in on the meeting?” andrew asked, helping his wife out of the passenger side of the car. “i don’t know if this is good or bad. i don’t want to attract any more negativity your way if i don’t have to.” @rvlucille​

“you're my husband. we did this--” she gestured at her pregnant belly “--together. i want you there,” she insisted, squeezing his hand. “i’m old enough to not need to keep a billion secrets anymore. and you have knowledge of this industry that i don’t-- i want you there. please.”

hojungrv​:

“he should really get over that, then. it’s inevitable,” hojung grumbled. “thank god you guys are having another kid. he’ll have mira and the baby to focus on and then maybe i can breathe.”

“oh, is that what you’re excited for?” lucy asked, teasing. “you’re probably right, though. mira is going to need attention. and babies are hard work. you may finally be free, hojung.”

“it definitely took me a second to catch  up,” lucy told her old groupmate with a little laugh, hand resting on her baby bump. “our kids can’t have playdates so much as yours can babysit mine but.... i guess we got here eventually.” @rvjinkyung​

he slid the ring onto her finger, lacing his fingers through hers once he was done and kissing the back of her hand. “what would your mother say?” he asked seriously, smiling slightly. “i know you’re joking but…. you’re pregnant and now engaged. am i about to have some angry parents of yours on my hands? should i prepare my apologies now?”

“i am a grown woman-- whatever they think doesn’t matter as long as i’m happy. which i am,” lucy said firmly. “but they both love you. and they’ve always wanted me to have a family someday-- mom pretends otherwise, but it’s true. i’m sure they’ll be thrilled.”

hojungrv​:

“yeah, but you can just punch it in the GPS if you want once we’re in the car,” hojung retorted with a tiny shrug. “maybe it’s just a dad thing. it’s annoying as hell, though.”

“it is, but it’s just because he’s you dad. he’s seen you grown up, right? i’m sure seeing you do grown up things is a lot for him,” she reasoned.

“i don’t even wanna think about that– it freaks me out whenever i do,” nathan laughed. he knew he was an accident, but still. he couldn’t fathom having a child at his age. “but i mean….having a sibling that young isn’t super weird, i guess. i know i’m older but… i was pretty old when mira was born.”

“it’s fairly exciting for her, i think,” lucy said with a smile. “this is her first younger sibling, and she’s old enough to realize what that entails for her. i was worried she’d be upset, but she’s more excited than anyone.”

“yeah, i trust you. i’m just worried somehow i’ll mess up and make trouble for you.”

“nothing is going to happen. and even if it did, you are anything but trouble,” lucy assured her with a soft voice.

rvjinhwa​:

“i mean… that’s technically not even wrong,” jinhwa giggled, nodding. she put on a mask of her own. “i don’t know how you’re so certain but….i trust you. let’s go.”

“you forget how good i am at hiding. you have to learn to be, being in this industry for as long as i have. but i know how to evade the press-- don’t you worry.”

“i’m excited too. i was pretty old when mira was born but…this is different, you know?” nathan answered with a tiny smile. “yeah, you’re right. i forgot that was public knowledge…”

“i can’t imagine how strange it must be-- you’re almost as old as your dad was when you were born,” lucy pointed out with a tiny smile. “i did too until idol project started and everyone started listing all the idols i’d trained. it built my credibility, at least.”
