“the skill, yes. the energy to deal with bullshit? not all the time,” andrew pointed out with a chuckle. “should have gotten a car-- significantly less expensive,” he joked in return. “thank you. it’s nice seeing you again.”

“how cliché– ahmi did it first,” jangbyul teased, smiling at the baby. she’d been at the higher building to work with seola, but she was glad she crossed paths. lucy was a dear friend of hers. “well, legacy have been promoting. hard to set anything on fire if you’re not in the building.”

“i mean, in my case, yanlei did it first. i have yet to give birth in my lifetime,” he answered with a little smile. he nodded. “yes, you’re right. and i’ve been reminded that all the male trainees are at idol project at the moment. i assume they must have extra supervision on hyosang.”

hojung was bouncing in his seat, nervous energy manifesting itself in how his knees was jiggling. to be frank, he barely remembered when mira was born, and he hadn’t been old enough to really be excited. but especially with lucy’s age, there was so much that could go wrong. he was concerned. when the door opened he looked up, getting to his feet before sitting back down. “uh… can i hold him first?”

andrew bit back a laugh, nodding. “yeah, you can,” he said, gently passing the baby to hojung. “just make sure to support his head. he should stay fast asleep.”

“i can imagine. any scandal at all, really– aren’t you established enough for people to not still make such a big deal?” dohee asked with a little giggle. “not for lack of trying. i’m sure hyosang oppa was close. but you forget the trainee boys are all at idol project, so we were saved from a little chaos.”

“i would have thought so, but i suppose my wife is a very different status in that regard i guess. namely with her being a woman,” he said sardonically. with a little shake of his head, he nodded. “yes, i suppose having a handful less hormonal teenaged boys means less potential for disaster.”

“i mean, if you want someone else to get in another scandal as a distraction just let me know,” minseok laughed along with him. it was clear from his tone of voice that he was joking; they both knew it had been years since his name had been mentioned negatively because of something he had said in any article headline, and sometimes that felt like it was almost about a different person entirely at this point. really min was just excited to see andrew, and gabriel of course. he couldn’t imagine what it must be like for andrew to be a new dad all over again, but to minseok andrew and lucy having gabriel as the newest addition to andrew’s kids just made sense.

“it’s still a couple years until yein and i can have kids though,” min added, which was a thought that he’d have to admit was rarely far from his mind. enlist, get engaged, get married, have kids was always the plan he and yein had decided on – it was just his plan now to switch the second to happening before he went to the military. “so if you’re still holding out for someone to burn the building down i guess i’m your guy.”

“oh? you going to go public with your already-public relationship to get the heat off me?” andrew retorted with a laugh. at this point, he wasn’t sure what sort of genuine trouble l3thal’s artists could possibly get into. none of them were the conventional idol type-- though, maybe someone would write a scathing exposé about the crew wasting power and energy by pulling only night shifts, or something. “really? you never were someone i took as the pyromaniac type. and if i was going to place bets on anyone burning the place down accidentally, i’d wager hyosang over you, i think.”

“at least you decided to copy ahmi and not beomsoo. i think having intimate photos of you leak at your age is a lot more embarrassing,” she told him with a wry smile. “well, you’re barely into your paternity leave at all, andrew. don’t be so certain. there’s so much time left for things to go sideways.”

“you have something you want to say, miran?” andrew challenged her jokingly, shaking his head. miran and namil’s kids were good kids, but he had to admit, he was glad that his set of children seemed to be more.... introverted. he didn’t know what he would have done if nathan had gotten into the type of shit beomsoo had. “don’t remind me; i’m on edge every second that something will go wrong. i’ve had a son at spotlight far too long for otherwise.”

she was half awake, gently stroking her baby’s head as the sunlight shone through the window. she wasn’t sure how much sleep she’d ended up getting– it wasn’t much, but it was more than in past weeks, so that was something. “too many, i’d wager,” she retorted, letting andrew take the baby and then resting her head on his shoulder and closing her eyes. “how dare they suggest i do a reality show? and step on jinkyung’s toes? i could never…”

“it has been a long time since i’ve had a manager or assistant, but there are enough emails that i’m considering hiring someone for a month, just to deal with it,” he joked in response, letting the baby settle against him. “well, one more kid, and we have more main cast members than jinkyung. i think we could give her a run for her money,” he joked.

“i appreciate that woori, thank you,” andrew said, smiling back at her. “we’re doin well so far, though. that’s the upside to having three adult children i suppose.”

“it’s no issue, seokjung, i promise. i needed to get out of the house, and some colleagues wanted to meet gabe. and it gives lucy a bit of time for herself,” andrew assured him. “it’ll be just fine.”

“i would ask why you’re here, but i was actively filming a reality show when i was pregnant with soeun, so i guess i can’t really talk about appropriate times for maternity and paternity leaves,” she commented with a little smile. “congratulations!”

“i would say that that is much wilder than me coming in to pick up a hard drive and an extra phone cord,” he said with a laugh. “thank you! lucy sends you and jinkyung her love-- we got the baby gift yesterday.”

nathan was a little sleep deprived, he wasn’t going to lie– promotions were just slowing down, which meant he’d gone for a few weeks now on barely any sleep. but he wasn’t going to miss this for the world. he’d been eleven when mira was born, and that had been cool, but he was old enough to really know he wanted to savour this moment now. “i’ve got him,” nathan replied softly, taking the baby securely in his arms. “how is lucy?”

he passed nathan the baby, sinking down into the seat next to his son, arm resting around his shoulders. “lucy is good. exhausted. the doctors are just checking to make sure everything’s good,” he answered, rubbing his forehead with his hand before glancing to his son. “are you good? you look exhausted.”

“no! yes! i don’t know!” jinhwa cried, legs bouncing in excitement and anticipation. she took a deep breath, composing herself and holding out her arms. “okay, yes. i’m okay. can i hold him first?”

“you can take time to decide if you’re not sure yet,” andrew offered with a little laugh, raising his eyebrow. he smiled, nodding. “yeah, jin, you can hold him first. sit back, and when i pass him to you, make sure to support his head okay?”

"I have to say, there is very little stranger than being a forty-three year old man with four children already, and getting into a pregnancy scandal,” he admitted, rubbing his hand over his face with a little laugh. It was the first time since gabe was born that he’d been back at the higher building-- he was just in and out, getting some stuff so he could do some work from home while on paternity leave. but gabriel was old enough to not be a sobbing mess when away from lucille, so andrew thought he’d bring the baby along in a little carrier, so his friends at work could meet him. “seems the place hasn’t burned down in my absence, so that’s nice to see at least.”

“guess how many emails i woke up to trying to get an exclusive,” andrew said with a laugh, bringing his wife a mug of coffee and setting it on the bedside table. gabriel was a few months old now, and the couple was just now slowly getting their sleep schedule back. hojung had been an incredible help, with jinhwa and nathan doing what they could when they weren’t working. all things considered, andrew was probably the happiest he’d been in a long, long time. he lowered himself onto his half of the bed, reaching to take gabe from lucy so she could relax. “radio shows... variety shows... return of superman... even got a couple of offers for our own independent reality show to document the lives of a full family of idols....” @rvlucille​

andrew adjusted the baby in his arms, slowly stepping out where his other kids were waiting. gabriel was finally calm and settled, and lucy needed the rest. nathan’s timing in the arrival was perfect. “you ready to meet your new brother?” he asked gently once her got to where the other four were waiting. “one at a time-- gently! we just got him calmed down.” @rvjinhwa @hojungrv @rvnate​

“if you insist. i just.. i know how much your career means to you, lucy. i don’t want me being there to be taken as an antagonistic move or anything,” he answered, hand resting gently on her baby bump. “for what it’s worth, i suppose... your tenure in the industry is a good sign.”

she narrowed her eyes, holding out her pinkie for confirmation. “worrying is my job. hojung doesn’t worry about anything, and nathan is too busy working to worry. and you are too levelheaded sometimes. if i don’t worry, no one will.”

“you’re too young to worry too much. i assure you i worry just enough. and if lucy wasn’t ready for this, we wouldn’t be so confident, i promise. everything is just fine.”
