KIM BOMI

born  into  a  loving  and  rather  well -off  family .  though  nowhere  near  as  economically  fortunate  as  her  classmates ,  BOMI  was  always  able  to  befriend  them .  sadly ,  having  been  raised  a  naïve  and  idealistic  person , she  ended  up  serving  as  a  doormat  for  them .  all  the  time .

in  middle  school ,  one  of  her  friends  decided  to  audition  for  every  entertainment  company  under  the  sun .  on  the  day  of  the  6th  audition ,  this  friend  realized  showing  up  alone  probably  made  her  look  bad  ---  so  she  brought  the  one  person  who  she  knew  wouldn’t  make  it  :  KIM BOMI .

and  this  friend  had  guessed  right .  neither  of  them  made  it  into  the  agency .  but  bomi’s  performance  left  a  sour  taste  in  her  friend’s  mouth ,  who  went  OFF  on  bomi  and  admitted  that  everyone ,  EVERYONE  around  was  only  using  her  for  her  kindness .  

she  was  alone  now ,  but  she  did  have  one  thing  going  for  her  --  her  voice ,  powerful  and  flexible  as  ever .  she  would  prove  her  worth  to  herself .  she  could  do  it ,  and  she’d  make  it  much  further  than  anybody  else  in  this  damn  class .

so  she  auditioned ,  and  auditioned ,  and  auditioned .  blindly ,  because  she’d  never  been  into  idols .  at  some  point ,  an  agency  was  bound  to  take  her  in .  and  that’s  how  kim bomi  made  it  into  [insert new group here]  and  became  their  top  money  maker .  and  she’s  not  going  to  slow  down  now . she has to rub it in her friend's faces . she won't let them , or anyone , look down on her again . she has to prove she's above them . she's always been .

ANASTASIA REDWOOD “ANA”

she was a very artsy kid, always sketching and painting. singing songs and dancing. she knew she wanted to be creative when she grew up, like, for a career, and when she told her mother, her mom decided that the most viable way for her to make money doing that was as a singer-songwriter, so that’s what ana set her heart on.

she put out her first song when she was sixteen, and started releasing music on her own consistently after that. some songs did okay. none did incredible. and when she was twenty-one, she was ready to give up and find a real job, when she got an offer.

not a record deal, no. but some korean label had heard her song and wanted to buy it to remake for their group. and really, ana wasn’t thrilled about the idea, but she needed the money, so she agreed. 

and then a few months later, they approached her again. for another one of her songs.

and then a few months after that, they offered her a position. an actual songwriting position. writing english lyrics and english versions of korean pop songs. so at the age of twenty-two, down on her luck and with no better options, she moved halfway across the world to ghost-write english lyrics for people who didn’t speak english.

she’s more freelance now-- millenium is her management, and manages her contracts and royalty payments, but she works for a lot of agencies. she’s the melanie joy fontana of rivalz-- if you’ve heard a song with good english lyrics, or an english version of a song with surprisingly impressive english lyrics, chances are ana’s had a hand in writing them.

she feels kind of stuck. because while she’s beign creative and writing music, she doesn’t get to perform any of it. at least her royalty cheques are paying for her other artistic outlets and hobbies, but still.... ana feels unfulfilled.

KIM YOONSEOK

Yoonseok started acting in middle school-- he was cast on the street for his likeness to a big name actor, as they needed someone to play his younger self for a drama, and despite never having acted before, yoonseok knocked it out of the park. he had never thought about making acting a career before, but he didn’t have to think at all-- after that drama, offers kept coming in, until it got to the point where his mom had him sign with a label.

he was a well liked-actor, known for his gentle and friendly demeanor off-screen. yoonseok always went with the flow, and followed the path life lead him on. and it lead him right to jinkyung.

they met on a set of a cf, and immediately hit it off. she was a few years older than him, but that didn’t bother yoonseok-- he admired how confident and ambitious she was. he wanted to pursue something with her. and when she confided in him about kyungjoo, he was surprised that that didn’t deter him. he’d never considered a poly relationship, but he liked kyungjoo quite a bit too. he quickly became a common appearance on their show, and before he knew it, he was having a reality-show wedding and joining the family. 

yoonseok has a different connection with both of his partners, but he cherishes both dynamics, and he’s so grateful for what his life has become. he became a husband and father fast, but it’s clear that it’s the life for him. he’s continued acting, and that has picked up since joining the cast of jinkyung’s show. he was part of the the team of actors that created millenium as well, which is where he is currently signed.

MOON MINJEONG

minjeong was kind of the ugly duckling

not literally, of course-- she looked pretty, just like her older sister and twin. but she always felt like she was the least talented of the three. yujeong was incredible-- good at everything and an absolute powerhouse, with the confidence to match. and dajeong, her twin, seemed to be 10% better than min at anything they tried.

minjeong always wanted to be an idol, since she was old enough to comprehend what that meant. she loved singing and dancing, and wanted to make music that made people happy. she’d been the first of her siblings to ask to start lessons, but whatever minjeong did, dajeong wanted to do (and was instantly better at), and a few years later when she grew out of soccer, yujeong started too. this had been minjeong’s dream, but for what? both her sisters were so much better than her without even trying.

they all started auditioning together when the twins turned twelve, going to any open audition they could. and in 2016, their mother said there was great news! great news for dajeong and yujeong, anyway. they’d both been signed by new age media. minjeong, however, had not.

minjeong kept auditioning for other opportunities. she was sad, but she tried to look on the bright side-- they’d probably debut together, so maybe minjeong would get signed and debut somewhere else! she’d get to stand out a little more! but that didn’t  happen. she watched as dajeong, and then yujeong, debuted with their terra solo songs while she got rejection after rejection. by the time terra came out with hi high, minjeong’s spirit was crushed. 

she works as an intern for millenium now while she goes to culinary school. part of her is wishing for some sort of miracle, where millenium last minute needs an idol and she’s right there, but she knows that’s never going to happen. terra’s lore just continues to be salt in the wound, though-- why would they make yujeong and dajeongs concept be that of twins, when dajeong actually had a twin that they’d thrown aside?

MOON MIKYUNG “MIKEY LUNA”

she grew up a bit of an outcast-- not really doing well in school, and not having a ton of friends. she threw herself into her extra-curriculars; gymnastics and martial arts taking up a lot of her time. she wasn’t the best, though, and her look kind of kept her from going too far.

when she graduated, there was no way she was getting into college, so she started working as a barista while she was shunned by her father and sent countless job opportunities every week by her mother. she didn’t want any of it, though.

it was by chance that she became a stunt double-- she’d continued with martial arts to keep fit, and there’d been an action movie casting at local establishments. she was picked, and she did well, and her name got out there. it was hard work, but it was way more fulfilling. mikyung felt like she was actually finally doing something.

when mpwa came to fruition, the brand had a lot of american and japanese talent, but for a korean company, they needed more korean wrestlers. since mikyung was already signed by millenium at that point, they reached out to her to see if it was something she wanted to try. so she did. 

she still does some stunt work, but she likes pro wrestling a lot more than she ever thought she would. she plays an enigmatic badass babyface on television, solidly in the mid-card, but she’s fine with that. way less pressure.

ANTONIO RAMOS “TONY MARTINEZ”

antonio was born in mexico, but grew up in jacksonville, florida, alongside his parents, his maternal grandmother, and five siblings. family meant everything to him. he and his brothers were tight knit. he helped his parents around the house, and listened to his grandmother’s stories. he was a good, happy kid.

his grandmother was particularly fond of pro wrestling, with her watching luchadors mainly, but tuning into wwe whenever it was on, and that’s where tony found his love of the sport. it was so fun and larger than life, and it made his grandmother so happy-- he’d resolved himself then and there that he was going to be a luchador like the ones she loved so much.

he ran into a few difficulties with that, though. as he hit puberty, he grew fast-- and a lot. he was a tall kid, and not scrawny in the slightest. while he’d seen big tall high-flying wrestlers on tv, he just couldn’t make his body move like that. and it wasn’t the only part of lucha, but it was a big enough part of it that he felt like his dreams had been crushed. well, some of them anyway.

when he graduated he started throwing himself into more traditional american wrestling, and after fighting on the indies, he was offered a spot in NJPW, which he took. he didnt like being so far from his family, but it was his shot to make it big time and get better, so he went to japan. 

he wasn’t a star. not in the slightest. he was mid-card at best. he was working hard, but he wasn’t progressing nearly as fast as he wished he would-- there was no way he was making it to wwe at this rate, especially if he was only going to get less and less airtime the more better prospects were signed. so when mpwa was created, he took a chance, and moved to korea to sign with the company.

in mpwa, he’s the loveable babyface. big, naive and gentle, and most recently, taken advantage of by retribution. he’s got revenge on his mind. and with a following slowly growing, he’s finally feeling like he’s got a future.

BAEK GOEUN

goeun was born in 2005-- the third child of former idol and reality television star, baek jinkyung. her entire life has been on a stage, no matter how much her parents tried to make sure that she could grow up somewhat normal. as much as they kept her appearances on the show innocent and minimal, people knew who the baek’s were. there was no going to school like a normal kid.

while her siblings seemed to be more okay with that and with the reality show, goeun has always been the odd one out. she likes being around her family and doing fun stuff for the reality show, but she’s painfully shy. having people recognize her on the street is a lot for her to have to deal with as an anxious introvert. 

her father (step-father, technically, but she’s always seen him as her dad) was the one who introduced her to acting, and she immediately fell in love. when she was acting, she didn’t have to be baek goeun. the problems goeun was having didn’t matter-- she could be someone else, and live in their skin. focus on their problems for a while. it was so healing for her, and quickly turned into a passion. and when she transitioned into her teen years, she became even more sure it was what she wanted to do for the rest of her life. when she turned fourteen, her dad helped her secure an audition with millenium and helped her rehearse for it.

she’s been a trainee with millenium for about a year now, and she works hard at it. she’s appeared in a webtoon or a music video here and there whenever millenium want to give her an opportunity to practice what it’s like actually acting, but she’s still just a trainee, and she’s comfortable with that. she doesn’t want to start acting for real until she’s sure she’s ready. she’s the most private out of all her siblings, and probably appears on the reality show the least. she has none of her own social medias either. she’s been looked at for so long, that for now, she’s happy just existing in her own bubble.

JOON KIWON “KEEAN”

his mom was a korean-american, and his dad a korean man she met when she was visiting her grandparents-- somewhere along the way, keean was born. honestly, he’s never been told outright, but he knows he was an accident. everything about his life screamed “accident child”

his parents never married, nor did they agree on even a country to share, both refusing to move from their homes. so from the moment kiwon was born, his passport got a lot of mileage, typically spending the schoolyear in seoul (his parents thought the education system was better there) and the summers in buffalo.

videogames were his escape. no matter where he was in the world, he could turn on an xbox and play with his friends (sure, he got basically no sleep, but in order to have a social life sometimes you needed to make hard choices). and with juggling basically two countries of friends, he played a lot, and he got good.

he played pro for a few games-- halo, cod, overwatch, and pubg to name a few. but when he found apex, he loved it. it was colourful and fast, and the characters were fun to play.

he played pro for a while, and was signed to a major NA org for almost a year before it got the best of his mental health. he was pushing himself too hard and being too rough on himself. so he didn’t sign again for the next circuit, moving back to seoul to hang out with his father for a while, and focusing more on content creation.

he’s been signed to knifepoint (or millenium, really) for only a couple months-- with the mess with taek being removed, they were desperately in need of a coach, and he’s that. he keeps them hyped. he keeps the coms friendly and the mental strong. he helps ruiqi feel welcome, while making sure woo feels heard. he’s good at what he does-- all while continuing to be one of the most positive and most hype streamers in the apex category. sometimes when more casual teams need a third teammate, he’ll pop in, but it’s usually only for scrims or OTs. he’s much more into the content creation side.

LIU MEILIN “HANA”

meilin was set to be an olympian. a world ranked gymnast. she was an incredible acrobat ever since she was a little girl, and scouts and her parents alike had such high hopes for her. but when you have so much riding on you and you don’t deliver? well that’s just crushing. 

she didn’t do anything wrong. no injuries. no slacking. she had the best coaches. she just wasn’t good enough. no matter how hard she tried, how many hours she put in, how she changed her practices, she had hit her threshold. whatever genetics world-class gymnasts had, meilin didn’t have that dna. 

she tried hard to stay positive, but it was hard to come to terms with the fact that the thing you’ve been working your whole life to do just wasn’t possible. when someone approached her from millenium offering her a place with mpwa where she could possibly put her skills to use, she just couldn’t picture it for herself, but with desperate encouragement from her parents ( who just wanted to see their daughter find a viable career and not see her childhood wasted ), meilin went ahead to go train. 

she didn’t start out with a passion for pro wrestling, but she’s warming to it. only a couple months back she made her official in-ring debut, and has been slowly working her way up the womens division. she’s a great face-- her size and happy demeanor makes it so easy to root for her. she still wishes she could be a gymnast, but considering that’s not an option anymore, she’s willing to put her all into this and just hopes she’ll find a love for it along the way.

NAM JUNGHOON “CAPTAIN”

I wouldn’t go so far as to call Junghoon a frat boy-- more frat boy adjacent, but you get the vibe. He’s dumb. He’s loud. He’s kind of full of himself. He attracts people to him. And he’ll go along with just about anything you say.

Maybe thats why he went on a drunken trip to Wrestlemania, and came back from that in a tag team with a guy he’d just met from New Jersey. 

Now known as MPWA’s Captain, and one half of The Alternates, he’s doing what he does best-- going along with the status quo, entertaining the masses, and having fun with a good friend. And he couldn’t bee happier with that.

He’s 28 now, and he’s gotten a lot more mature over the years. Some of his more.....troublesome traits are ones that he’s grown out of. But at his core, he’s stil the same fun loving guy who wants to make people smile. And also look good while doing it.

AMURO FŪKA “EMI HIKARI”

Fūka knows how lost she’d be without Himari.

She’s always been a softer girl. A people pleaser, set on making people happy. Someone who finds it so hard to say no. And without Himari, it had the potential to get her in a lot of trouble. Fūka always liked to joke that Himari was her bodyguard-- keeping her from getting hurt because of her own naivety. 

Fūka had always loved wrestling, and though she was a bit on the smaller side, she knew it was something she wanted to do someday. The fact that Himari was right there with her made her want to do it even more-- she was certain that Himari was sent to earth to be her second half, and to guide her in the right direction.

When the girls signed to Stardom, Fūka knew she had something special. Despite being very new, she and Himari-- but Fūka especially-- got pushed to the moon. Outlets across the globe called Fūka (who’s wrestler name was now Emi Hikari) the biggest breakout star, and one of the most athletic performers in the business. She was destined for great things. Maybe even the main event of Wrestlemania. Or, she would have been. 

A few choice executives at Stardom seemed to take special interest in her, and while Fūka had always assumed that they wanted her to be a better performer, that wasn’t the whole truth. Lines were blurred and pressures were put in place, and by the time Fūka realized what was happening, it was too late. She was scared. But then MPWA seemed to show up as her saving grace.

She had been expecting Himari to get upset with her when she told her about everything and about wanting to leave for MPWA, but Himari couldn’t have been more understanding. And within the year, they were off to South Korea for a new start.

Himari says now that Fūka has the potential to be the face of MPWA. The biggest babyface in the company. But Fūka doesn’t believe her, and even if she did, she wouldn’t care. She’s just happy to finally get to do what she loves freely again, without fear of someone hurting her.

LANCE KIM “ACE”

Everything Lance has done in his life has been out of spite.

He was born in New Jersey, to low-income immigrants of South Korea. They didn’t have much, but they had each other, and Lance is the man he is today thanks to his dad. One piece of advice in particular has always stuck with him– “If someone says you can’t do something, flip them off and do it anyway”. It’s something he lives his life by.

A kid in middle school said that boys can’t have piercings? Lance showed up the next week with his ears pierces. In high school, someone told him he was too young for tattoos? He got a stick and poke one on his hip a few days later. Everyone tells him he’ll never graduate high school? He graduates two years early, through help from online classes and summer school, passing with straight B’s and bringing both his average and work ethic up exponentially to do so. His mom tells him he doesn’t have the language skills or cultural awareness to live in South Korea? He learns Korean from a tutor and reads up on Korean culture, preparing to move there someday just to prove her wrong.

It’s amazing how someone’s life choices– huge choices– can be influenced by other people, and Lance is an unorthodox example of that. Hell, even his career was influenced by someone telling him he couldn’t do it. Told that pro wrestling is stupid and fake and he’s too skinny and scrawny to do it anyway? He spends hours working out and getting in ~peak fitness~, attends a six month intensive at a pro wrestling gym, and works a few indie shows, just to show he can.

It was while on a trip to watch Wrestlemania one year that Lance met Junghoon. He doesn’t even remember how (it was probably in a bar), but they clicked immediately, and started bonding on shared hobbies and interests. And somewhere along the line, they had the idea for a tag team.

And when he told his mom about it, she said it was the stupidest thing she’d ever heard. So he did it anyway, moving to Seoul so he and Junghoon could get to work. 

Now in MPWA, they’re known as The Alternates-- a comedy tag team that kinda gets treated like jobbers, but Lance doesn’t mind. He knows they’re entertaining to watch, and he knows that every promotion needs a lower tier team to help get high tier teams over. He’s just vibing. 

He’s very independent, and very rarely lets anyone else’s opinions get to him. Lance gets a kick out of proving people wrong. He has a very crude sense of humor, abut is overall pretty friendly. It’s hard to get on his bad side. Unless you try to tell him he can’t do something. But that was implied.

SATO HIMARI “KATHARSIS”

Himari and Fūka have been friends for as long as the two girls can remember. They grew up next door to each other. Every birthday and holiday had an appearance. They liked all the same things-- they were nearly inseparable. So when Fūka started getting into pro wrestling when the girls were eleven, himari followed quickly behind.

They started their in-ring training when they were fifteen, going to training gyms after school to learn the basics. both of them had incredible potential, as well as incredible passion-- it was the recipe for success. The biggest thing, though, was their chemistry together. It didn’t matter if they were feuding or tagging-- Himari and Fūka had something together that made you want to watch.

They both signed to Stardom young, and though they started as singles stars (Himari under the name Kimi Chidori), their real success came with the birth of Synergenisis-- a tag team. They were fun to watch, and natural babyfaces. They made you want to root for them. And their in ring work was phenomenal.

It was a large shock to the Stardom audience when both girls chose to sign with MPWA-- Synergenisis was set to be the tag team in Stardom, and MPWA picking them up seemed like a huge coup. The duo were probably the biggest signing to the new promotion. But Himari had always wanted to live in Seoul, and Fūka was having some internal issues with some of Stardom’s road agents. This was a fresh start, and they had the opportunity to build and shape the new division for years to come.

Synergenisis was a huge draw for new fans. They cemented themselves with huge matches, and when the women’s tag belts were announced, they became the inaugural champions. 

Recently, Himari turned heel and joined the Retribution stable under the name Katharsis, setting up a huge feud with Fūka (or, rather, Emi Hikari)-- one of the hottest feuds MPWA has right now. Kathasis acts as Reckoning’s unhinged and ruthless muscle-- dangerous, loyal, and absolutely brutal to fight.

Despite how they are now positioned in kayfabe, Himari and Fūka are still like sisters. Himari can’t help but to someday catapult her best friend to the world championship, and she hopes that MPWA is a fixture in the wrestling scene for years to come.

While she plays and evil lunatic in the ring, Himari herself is very kind. She’s known for going out of her way to give advice and help to younger talent, and has been known to be down to take a loss if it means getting someone new over. She’s humble and focused, and dedicated to making the product as best as it can be. While she’s young now, and approaching the peak of her career in the next decade, she already knows very well that stars fade. She’s dedicated to making sure there is a new star to take her place when she finally does have to retreat to a road-agent role someday (hopefully in the very distant future).

GONG JINA “GINA KONG”

you don’t need to know her deadname. the stories of gender dysphoria. every surgery she’s ever had laid out. frankly, it’s none of your business, and it doesn’t change the truth-- gong jina is a woman. a transgender woman, but a woman nonetheless.

it’s not that her history isn’t important. jina knows that everything she’s gone through has helped her become who she is today-- literally and figuratively. but she’s tired-- she’s been openly trans since she was seventeen, and by this point, she doesn’t want to be defined by all the probing (and, quite frankly, inappropriate) questions and assumptions from nosy netizens with questionable intentions. she wants to be defined by her work. 

so, let’s talk about that instead. from a young age, jina always loved pro wrestling. her family would get translated wwe broadcasts and watch them together. it was so surreal and exciting, and jina was hooked. she’d always dreamt of being part of that world in some way, but between her country and language barriers, and her transition, she knew that it would never happen. she wasn’t going to the united states, and south korea didn’t have the same scene.

so she did the next best thing, getting into pro fighting and other sports as on-screen talent. by this point, by the grace of her parents and their support, she passed, and so as far as anyone knew, she was a woman. that helped her get jobs as a sports correspondent on a local news station, and then later, transition to be a presenter on a sports network. it was shallow, but she liked being the tall pretty woman who was the face of the ~news~. 

when it became clear that millenium was making moves into athletics, jina didn’t really bat an eye. that is, until through her journalism contacts, she found out they were creating a wrestling promotion. she pulled in every favor she had to get an interview, and the rest is history. jina is the main presenter for mpwa, and hosts the after-ppv recap show as well. it’s her dream job, and she’s thriving.

as far as anyone at millenium knows too, she’s a cis woman, and that is by design. jina would never admit it, but she’s scared. she knows how anti-lgbtq south korea can get. and she’s just gotten her dream job-- she refuses to let it slip through her fingers. if that means playing along with a dangerous game, then so be it.

SU RUIQI “SURISURI”

it’s cliche to say that ruiqi was not like other girls, but she really wasn’t. in her earlier years especially, it wasn’t cool for girls to hang out inside and play video games after they were done with their homework, at least. maybe that’s why ruiqi’s best friend ended up being her cat, and a few nice girls she met on the internet. 

ruiqi always struggled with her mental health. school and pressures around that only made it worse-- gaming was something she could use to distract herself. and unfortunately she had to distract herself a lot-- she ended up getting really good. not at just one game, either; anything with a basic fpc mechanic to it was right in her wheelhouse. 

there was just something about apex that brought her in immediately. maybe it was the design. maybe it was the community. maybe it was the characters and their lore. whatever it was, she loved it. she loved it a little too much. she sank hours into playing it-- ridiculous amounts of time.

she never gave a thought to playing competitively until millenium reached out to her. that season split, she’d managed to work her way up into predator rank, and was doing really well, which was a surprise to many-- usually you saw a lot of the same names in and out of there, but she was a bit of an unknown. and as it turned out, millenium was trying to build out an esports division of their own. they offered her a spot on their squad, a salary, and even housing. she said yes in an instant.

she had been excited at first to meet her teammates, completely unaware of the discord she was about to cause with her arrival. she knows taek hates her, and she’s pretty sure woo doesn’t like her much either. mingi is nice to her, but it’s hard to play well when you know your squad would rather be playing with someone else. not to mention that the moment she started playign with them, she had to start playing bloodhound instead of lifeline because it fit the meta better. 

she’s trying hard. she wants to prove her teammates that she’s worthy of being there, and that she’s good enough to round out the team. but she can’t help but fall into depressive states sometimes. it’s hard when they people you ought to be closest to can’t stand you.

ruiqi’s determined, though. and one of these days, she’s hellbent on getting woo to let her try lifeline in a comp match. she knows that with the right team and the right player, any character can be made to be useful and deadly. they just have to let her try.

MIN KYUNGTAEK “2TAEK2″

taek didn’t have the best home life. his mother was out of the picture, and his father wasn’t that nice of a guy. he had his older sister, but she was much older than him, and by the time kyungtaek was nine, she had already gone off to university. 

he had all the makings of a hooligan or a delinquent. the only thing that kept him from that was video games. 

it started with playing at friends’ houses. and he loved it. for three years, he saved all his birthday, christmas, and allowance money so he could buy a playstation, and he got that when he was fourteen. it was an escape. it was everything to him. he didn’t have to think about how much of  dick his dad was, or how much of a failure he was. he could just escape. 

taek took the first job he could after he graduated, moving to live in his sister’s spare room-- she still charged rent, but less so, and his meals were paid for. in his spare time, he kept gaming, and in 2017, he met woo and mingi-- who would soon become his best friends. he wasn’t sure why they clicked so well, especially since mingi was basically a kid, but they did. they played well together. they were friends.

and that really was solidified when they transitioned into the competitive apex landscape. kyungtaek began to get a reputation as a ballsy pathfinder that you didn’t want to take fights with. knifepoint became a huge name, especially considering they were unsigned. and it was by no means a career, but the extra income was huge for taek. he really didn’t have that much else going on for him.

signing with millenium at first felt like a blessing. the much bigger salary and the promise of sponsorships mean he could finally move out of his sister’s place and find and apartment of his own. he could support himself. but that quickly soured once he learned he was essentially being replaced-- some little girl was coming in to play with his squad, while he was told he was going to have to step aside and be an alternate, as well as focus on content creation. whatever the fuck that meant.

it’s been months, and taek is still extremely bitter. he knows it isn’t ruiqi’s fault, but he kind of hates her. the legends she mains don’t fit with their comp the same way he did, she’s too timid, and she doesn’t even come from a competitive background. it just wasn’t fair!

these days, taek focuses on streaming ranked. he’s known as a bit of a hot head who gives honest opinions, for better or worse, though he can’t really speak his mind (or leave) because he still loves woo and mingi. he doesnt’ want to put them in a bad position. plus, he needs a paycheck. sometimes taek gets to play in e-league tournaments with some other friends, but its not the same. and he’s still not over it.

YOUNG MINGI “SWIP3RZZZ”

mingi’s parents saw the potential in esports before many did, and as soon as he took an interest, his mom went full manager. he played league of legends almost nonstop, with tutors a few times a week to make sure his schoolwork was passable, and no other extracurriculars. it was kind of the life-- what other eleven year old do you know that does nothing but game, and doesn’t get in trouble for it?

unfortunately, mingi was too young to really take off when the game started, and when he started getting really good at league, the market was already oversaturated with great players. he got overshadowed. so his mother encouraged him to get his hands on other games-- she’d invested so much in making sure he was some sort of esports star, and she wasn’t going to let him give up. 

mingi hopped from game to game for a while, not quite finding one he really loved. what he did find, however, was friends. they were older than him, but really, most people he played with were. but they worked well together. and because he’d spent so much time gaming and nothing else in his formative years, he was kind of isolated-- having friends was kind of a new concept. he attached himself to taek and woo. 

the moment apex came out, all three of them knew they had something special. mingi hadn’t quite connected to a game like this since league (which he still plays casually). and now that he was old enough to make some leeway, the trio quickly began to show they might in the asian market. they may not have been signed, but they still were invited to top tier competitive tournaments. it was what mingi’s parents had been waiting for.

when woo approached mingi and his family about the millenium offer, mingi didn’t really have time to think about it. sure, he probably would have said yes, but his mother immediately made the decision for him, throwing him all in. but hey, if his friends were in too, what could go wrong?

well, ruiqi was added and taek was forced to step down to be an alternate. and it was sad. and weird. but mingi like ruiqi, and he tries his hardest to make sure she feels like part of the team-- they all play better when they feel like a unit, after all, and he knows that taek has a hard time being civil. 

when it comes to gameplay, mingi is a wraith main. he’s very technically sound when it comes to in-game skill, and when it comes to tactics, it doesn’t matter that he’s a bit of an airhead-- he has dongwoo micromanaging his every portal and Q, so he can’t go that wrong.
