“ and you’re not just saying that? ” soojung questions, playfully squinting her eyes as she observes ohkyung’s face. “ okay. that’s nice. did something happen? ”

“No, I’m not just saying it this time,” Ohkyung replied. “Nothing has happened, that’s been the problem. I feel like I’ve hit a wall and I think I need some time to reset.”

“ oh. ” that gave soojung a pause, she straightened, blinking startled eyes. “ sounds like burnout to me. ” she said a touch softer, empathetic.

she takes a deep breath and releases it slowly. seriously. “ you don’t see me telling him how to do his job. ” she grumbles, already crumpling that goodamn chicken scribble and tossing it into the trash where it rightfully belongs. “thank you, sona. just—the next time he tries tell him to shove his ideas up his ass for me, kindly. ”

sona bit back a smile, trying not to chuckle under her breath. the sticky note had gone just about as well as she’d thought it would. “i tried to tell him,” she said with a little laugh, tucking her hair back behind her ear. “maybe not in so many words, though. i might have to use more colorful language to really make sure it gets through, i guess.”

“ good. ” she nods her approval. even if the current situation is one that is repeated almost daily it never ceases to be a culprit in soojung's bad moods. “ i mean!! ” soojung heaves out a sigh, pushing her hair away from her face, “ why do people—men especially—why do they feel like they have a right to give their opinion on things they know nothing about. ugh. ” she rants

“ soooo… about that sabatical we talked about, ” she begins, reaching for the others hand and linking their fingers together. “ have you tought about it? like, seriously. ” @rvohkyung

Ohkyung didn’t like taking any time off, but frankly he feels like sticking around the building just gives him more time to catastrophize everything in his head. “I’ve been thinking about it a lot, lately, actually.” He said with a sigh.

sona knocked lightly on the threshhold of soojung’s office, offering a smile. “i have the song demo you needed– we just finished the mix for it. the producer had some notes for ideas he had for concept stuff…. i told him you probably didn’t need it, but he wrote it on a sticky note for you anyway…” @rvsoojung​

“i’m curious—what group is the worst to work with? because i’ve heard plenty of horror stories about traxx.” @blairrv

“well, traxx isn’t good by any means, but i wouldn’t even say it’s the worst. i think it’s got a bit of misogyny in there, but as soon as a big burly man tells them they need to do something, they complain, but they do it,” blair answered. “the worst is iris. this can’t leave this room but….serafina is an absolute nightmare.”

soojung glances over her shoulder as if to make sure nobody is listening in on their conversation, when she faces blair once againg her eyes are all but dancing with mischief. “ you know what i think? i think traxx definetly has some dirt on someone really, really important in this industry. i'm being totally serious. everyone and their grandmother has some sort of horror story involving at least one of them and yet, here they are. still at the top. ” soojung is thankful she’s never had to speak to traxx for more than a minute. for a moment a surprised expression passes over her features; “ you're kidding!! she’s so small and cute—— like a porcelain doll, ”

“ soooo... about that sabatical we talked about, ” she begins, reaching for the others hand and linking their fingers together. “ have you tought about it? like, seriously. ” @rvohkyung

“you do concepts, don’t you? you should give venus something cool,” yeseo said with a little whine. “iris get to be vampires and cultists who kill pizza delivery boys– why can’t venus do that someday?” @rvsoojung​

“ we don't need two of the same. ” soojung deadpans, an eyebrow raised. “ what's wrong with venus concepts? your group gets plenty of varied concepts. ”

“Was that really necessary?” Ohkyung asked, rubbing the spot on his forehead. “It could be fun, but I feel like after a certain point, not working would stress me out even more.“

“maybe i need to hit you with something harder?” she hums. really, it was impressive how thick headed ohkyung could be. soojung sighs. “i mean— it's good that you're work is something you're passionate about but, seriously, being all about work is not healthy."

“I have no idea what I would do if I had that much time on my hands,” Ohkyung said. “Do you have enough funds to take a year off? I’d say go for it if you can - you work hard.”

“have you ever tried to getting a hobby? work isn't—” she reached a hand to flick him on the forehead “everything, oppa. you know what? we should take a year off together! that would be fun.”

“it’s natural to feel a little bitter.” soojung reassured, she’s never found herself in a similar situation but tries to imagine how she’d feel in those circumstances. “maybe you would have done a better job, i mean, half of those kids didn’t appear to be very excited to be part of the show.” she grimaced, “but you also have to consider liberty’s trainee program focuses in different aspects so they have a clear disadvantage.”

“I’m aware of the disadvantages, I worked within them for years,” Baohui pointed out, then mulling carefully over his words. “Some of them are instrumentalists, I get that, but also… I distinctively remember several times where they’d just ditch practice if it ever came to dancing.”

"and i'm sure they regretted that decition once they entered the show," she said with a short laugh. "well, they did good enough in vocals but... yeah, i don't think liberty cares much about idol project besides the extra exposure. anyways!!" she clapped her hands, attempting to move the conversation onto a happier note. "the kids from new age are killing it, really, you should be focusing on your new friends!"

“You’ve already got me, I don’t have a choice,” he teased the younger with a grin. He wasn’t about to pass that up, though. It had been a while since he’d even left Liberty’s building outside of well, going back home for the night. “What were you thinking for lunch, though?”

soojung smiled once more when the older didn't refuse. admittedly, she had been preparing a few arguments on her way to corner him. "that's the attitude!" she joked easily, already starting to walk, not letting go of him. just in case. "i was thinking about something on the lighter side, greasy food makes me sleepy."

Baohui had very mixed feelings about Idol Project. He was keeping up with the episodes to support his friends, but he felt extremely sour that now of all times, Liberty decided to pay attention to their trainees – and every single Liberty trainee but one had gotten eliminated during the last week. “I can’t help but think… if I was still at Liberty, I would’ve done better. I know it’s not fair to say, and of course I’m just thinking in terms of hypotheticals and there’s nothing I can change about it now but…” he paused for a moment. “I don’t know, I’m just annoyed. please tell me if I’m out of line here.”
