“you’re the new producer, right? the one they brought in to produce for midnite?” soyi asked with a hum. “i heard their demo. it’s really unique, and really cool. are you going to work with other groups too? or just midnite...” @rvnemo​

“honestly, they didn’t think it through,” soyi admitted, sighing. “i think they sent her, less as an exposure opportunity, and more as extra training and development for her. which....is valid. but short-sighted.”

“Yeah, I think I get that - it’s easier to figure out what’s wrong when you’ve got a visual of it, rather than just trying to feel it out. I feel like it’s easier picking out problems when you’re hearing them but that doesn’t really apply to dancing.”

“it doesn’t apply, but it’s the same concept,” soyi said. “in the moment, you’re too wrapped up in what you’re trying to do to be able to discern for yourself.”

“exactly that,” soyi replied. “sometimes you think you’re doing good and you don’t realized you’re off a smidge. but seeing yourself do it makes it click.”

“how long do i need to be an idol for before i can get a full sleeve tattoo,” xifeng mused aloud. “like, i don’t even know if i want one yet. but i just want to know…”

“why get a sleeve when you can get something on your ribs or thigh? easier to conceal, and more canvas space that way.”

“Okay, I have never practiced dancing so long in my entire life,” Eli admitted. They danced every now and again, but it was for fun and not anything serious. Idol Project prep was a whole different beast. “I’m going to get used to it, I have to–but seriously, I don’t know how y’all keep it up. Tell me your secrets.”

“film yourself,” soyi told him bluntly. “every time you feel like you’re in a good place, film what you’re doing, and then rewatch it. it makes it so much easier to see where you can improve.”

“there’s nothing more frustrating than knowing the name of something, but having to call it something stupid,” meilin sighed dramatically, adjusting her ponytail. “like doing a back extension roll with an extra kick to take out someone’s legs, but having it be called something ridiculous like the equalizer? i think it’s going to be the death of me.”

“please, don’t even get me started. i know so many words for so many vocal techniques, but i’ll go in for a vocal evaluation and just be told i need less inconsistency, like that tells me what i’m doing wrong and what i need to change at all.”
