On the one hand I know Colbert is a legit Tolkien fanatic who's super knowledgeable about the lore, and apparently wants to use this script to insert things that were cut from the movies(like Tom Bombadil)

On Double Rainbow (Jaune x Ilia)

It goes back to when I was writing Firen Lhain.

For anyone that wasn't there, I was completely put off by Season 6, and everything thereafter. At first I did Paladin, which was Season 6 rewrite (Tumblr Dialogue Format). When I my interest in RWBY was ebbing, @noneatnonedotcom convinced me to try an AU, and I came up with a Faunus AU, whereby the main cast were all Faunus, with their natures chosen to mimic their personalities and abilities.

It always started off as an epic, even if I didn't think of it as such, but as I kept writing, I just kept writing.

V1-5 are short parallels to S1-5. This meant focusing on out of focus elements, and tweaking the story to fit their Faunus nature. The out of focus elements was largely JNPR, and so Jaune naturally became a deuteragonist.

V6-12 are a complete rewrite to the end of the series. Instead of focusing on needless infighting, I kept the power of friendship, that S1-5 taught us, and wrote a complete story around it, ending with Salem's surrender.

The total wordcount at War and Peace levels. Like I said, I just never stopped.

When I started the story, I had to decide on which of the JxRWBY pairings to run with. The problem was that I liked all of them, and just went with it. But, it's not a usual anime harem, where the main character has a relationship with all of, but all of the RWBY pairings as well.

And then I got to Season 6, when I could/would write my own story.

Ilia was:

A fantastic character, and hated that they just instantly put her on a bus.

Completely and wholly unsuited to any sort of leadership role.

So, the answer was have her join the main cast. Blake tried to keep her distance to not lead her on, and Jaune was the one to step up and help Ilia. He helped her develop morals, Aura, and self-confidence.

Ilia fell in love with Jaune, and Jaune fell in love with her.

So, what was I going to do?

Rewrite the entire story to leave Jaune open for a Double Rainbow Romance? That would be crazy, wouldn't it?

Starting mid-7th season, I wrote Firen Lhain to allow the romantic moments to be platonic, and finished both of them, together.

Because insanity, obviously.

At one point, Jaune proposes to her, and her response was roughly, "I hate the government", which Jaune accepted. No need to get them in the middle of the romance.

The nudity came because Jaune pointed out that it might be easier for Ilia to unlock her Semblance if she was naked, as it was likely related to her camouflage reflex. He never suggested she just randomly do it in public, but... well, Nora is there...

For the stalking, Ilia could not trust her own morality, and didn't feel like part of the power of friendship, so her solution was that when they left the safehouse, she would discretely follow them. They literally had the Mother of Grimm hunting them, along with pissed off former White Fang.

So, it was platonic stalking, and the power of friendship and compassion.

Ilia was the one to make it kinky. Being a former assassin means she's gotten used to a wide variety of things, and eager to use her skills to help the main characters.

Jaune: Come in!

Ruby: *opens the door and looks inside*

Weiss: Pardon our intrusion.

Ruby + Weiss: *walks into the living room and pause*

Jaune: *sitting on the couch*

Ilia: *head poking out of the front of his hoodie*

Weiss: Pardon... our intrusion?..

Ilia: *hand appears and waves them over*

Ruby + Weiss: *walk into the living room, and move to sit on a couch*

Weiss: Not to mention the Goliath in the room?..

Ilia: The short version is I can fit.

Ruby: Is it comfy?

Ilia: It makes me feel so small. And loved. And vulnerable. But in a good way.

Ruby: Honestly, Weiss could probably fit, too.

Weiss: I'm sure Ilia would be...

Ilia: Complete opposite.

Weiss: *stunned into silence*

Ilia: Rules are pretty simple, I'm actually naked in here.

Weiss (rolls her eyes): Why am I not surprised.

Ilia: If you want to take my place, you have to be the same!

Weiss: *SCOFF*

Jaune: *nervously looking about*

Weiss: *gives Ruby a pleading look*

Ruby: *contemplative*

Weiss: *feeling betrayed*

Ruby: I honestly do want to see it.

Weiss: And showing Jaune my nude body? You would have no problem with that.

Jaune: I can chose mys...

Ruby: This is Jaune.

Weiss: *misunderstands but happy*

Ruby: So, of course I wouldn't have a problem with that.

Weiss: *fearful*

Weiss: But, our?..

Ruby: But, it IS Jaune. Who's been my best friend since I exploded in Beacon.

Weiss: I thought I was your best friend.

Ruby: Yeah, but I had to wear you down.

Weiss: *shyly nods*

Ruby: And Jaune's been hot for you since love at first sight, and he was there for me when I wanted to... walk... across... Remnant. Okay, it seemed like a good idea at the time.

Weiss: I have long since come to accept your folly.

Ruby: Then accept my fall-y and have fun with Jaune.

Jaune (nervously): Don't I get a say in this?

Weiss: Am I suddenly unworthy of your affections?

Jaune: . . .

Jaune: *looks at Ruby*

Ruby: I want to watch.

Jaune: Weiss getting into my hoodie with me?

Ruby: Everything.

Jaune? Ilia?

Ilia: *unzips the hoodie, and nude, extends her arms and legs*

Weiss: *stands up*

Jaune: I just want everyone to remember this was not my idea.

Weiss: *head poking out of Jaune's hoodie*

Weiss: I am remarkably content.

Jaune: *leans forward, slightly*

Weiss: And apparently Jaune is, as well.

Jaune: I'm...

Ilia: Having a natural reaction to having a hot blonde cuddling up to you naked.

Ruby: *eyes Ilia naked on the couch*

Ruby: I don't want you to feel uncomfortable, so maybe I should?..

Weiss: I hate to say it, but at this point that is the least crazy suggestion you've ever made.
