( coffee break )
perdita sat quietly in the coffee shop, thumbing through the pages of a muggle magazine that had been left on the table she was sitting at. she couldn’t help but think that some of the muggles in this magazine had an odd idea of fashion sense. still, she liked looking at the pictures and reading what was happening in muggle lives.
this weekend had been her dad’s birthday, so she had been allowed to visit home to see him, and well, she hadn’t returned yet. she knew she should have been back at the school by now but she figured she’d just stop off for one last coffee in her favourite cafe before going back. it wouldn’t hurt, right? it was just a coffee, and besides, she probably wouldn’t leave the school again until the next holidays. probably.
Ryan pushed open the door to the tiny cafe, the bells ringing above his head as he walked through and into the quaint and warm shop. It was one of his favourite places to visit, when, for a change, he didn't want to be surrounded by the loud and bustling company of his usual crowd, or simply when he wanted a good coffee and happened to be around the corner, such as in this case. He walked up to the counter and asked the young girl who stood behind it for what he usually ordered, (a regular cappuccino, if you were wondering his coffee preference.) and stepped away to wait.
Pushing the lid onto his drink, he turned around and scanned the place for a free table. As a general rule, it was never too busy here, and today wasn't different, so Ryan couldn't help but notice the girl who sat with her face partly covered by a muggle magazine. He knew he'd met her before, but couldn't quite think of her name, though he knew it was a unique one, (perhaps why he forgot it). He headed towards her table despite this minor road block, "Is anyone sitting here?" he gestured to the empty chair across from hers...
