House of Ill Repute: Sasha & Open
Granted a sober Sasha would’ve never made a deceleration of a pathetic prophetic fate, but the shine seemed to have loosened her lips. Come tomorrow as staff recounted her little spectacle she would likely play it off with a laugh, but internally would cringe with embarrassment. After all when you’re the daughter of a Ukrainian crime lord, weakness wasn’t something you displayed openly. Tomorrow would be more of the same, and she would most likely be just as trapped as she felt an hour ago, but forthe moment she felt liberated standing on the top bar being the center of the rowdy atmosphere. The woman was utterly oblivious at the potential predicament she put herself in with her little confession. As far as she was concerned those pulling at her skirts only wish to assist her safely down, and was utterly clueless that anyone would have ill intention until she felt a hand travel up her calf under her skirt. The shock of the act was enough to throw her off the balance, luckily there was a steady hand at her hip to keep her from falling, or so she thought until she was being pulled off the bar top.
There was a moment of panic until she recognized him from the sheriff’s office. They had met prior during one of her visits in an attempt to garner Walen’s attention. She tried to recall his name, but came up with nothing. Perhaps she had been to distracted by trying to ply the sheriff with compliments to have cared to remembered. His name wasn’t the only thing which she had missed; those eyes of his were as blue as a clear sky on a July day. Being only inches away she found them startling, and dropped her jaw just as he began to yell. Utterly confused she asked, “Are you upset with me?” Letting her arm drape loosely around him the soft hair on the back of his neck tickled her skin. Noticing the wet mark on his face she lifted her hand and cupped his cheek before clumsily wiping it away. She could’ve sworn his neck radiated warmth, and for a moment she stared at his lips. She couldn’t help, but think she found herself immersed in one of those books she so loved. It wan’ts too far a leap considering she found herself tucked in the arms of handsome man.
The words tumbled from him so sweetly as he spoke of virtue and purity. Words that had no place in a whore house. Giving thought to his words she looked away briefly to glance around before she gently shook her head and gazing back into those unbelievable eyes of his. “No, I beg your pardon sir- but I respectively must disagree. I can assure you that even if stood on top of that bar without a stitch of thread to cover my bare behind there would be bloodshed before anyone dared to touch my pu-” she intentionally paused and playfully bit her lower lip before she finished, “purity.” Knowing this sweet dalliance of a moment would come to end shortly she leaned lifting her lips close to his ear and spoke softly. “Thank you kind sir for the assistance, but it would be in your best interest that you put me down before my father see us.” No sooner did she utter the last word a scream cut thorough the room. Pandemonium broke out all around them, scared by the sudden commotion she instinctively clung to his well built shoulders.
Ryan knew all eyes were watching him. When someone like Sasha had a father like Pavlo Terasenko you didn’t make a scene of holding on to his daughter for too long. In a crowd like this rumors would get started pretty easy. She slurred her question and Ryan was looking around for her father, confused by her speech. Why would a girl like her scream something like that in front of a crowd of horny old men? From what Ryan was told when he agreed to be a deputy in Canyon Diablo was her father and his business partner sold virgins to the highest bidder. Was it not possible for him to get so angry that he would sell her off the way Ivan treated his sister? Ryan hadn’t even realized that Oxana was a relation until it was pointed out to him.
“Mad? What? No, but you need to not say things like that. You know, you might anger people,” he lowered his voice so the bartender didn’t accuse him of talking shit about Pavlo. Sasha was looking deep in to Ryan’s eyes and he could feel the heat rising up from under his collar. It had been a good many years since he’d known the touch of a woman. Amazing what the war did to separate people from having anything real in their lives. His eyes grew as wide as a saucer when she almost said something very unlady-like; breathing a sigh of relief when Sasha caught herself and changed her thought to purity. She was very naïve to think these men would just leave her alone. Not all of them knew of her father or his reputation. All it would take is one moment in the shadows and she would never be the same. He’d seen it in war and really didn’t care to see it in the town he had the unfortunate of calling home.
Her reminder brought Ryan crashing back to reality. He knew he needed to set her down and yet he still had his arms wrapped around her. Coughing, he let his arms drop sort of propping the young woman against the bar rail so she wouldn’t topple over. He could smell the liquor on her. The poor girl was going to have a hell of a hangover in the morning. “Right. Father. Listen, Miss Sasha, you might want to stay here tonight? Maybe sleep this off in one of the rooms upstairs? It is just a thought.”
