Only one day left until the end of the year. I chose this photo for this Friday night. If I remember correctly, it was done on the day ZZH registered its own company. It was another success for him and a small step on the way to fame. Here we see the face of a happy young man. With a beautiful smile. ZZH shares its happiness with us. The sun nicely exposes the golden color of ZZH's face. There is no filter in the photo as you can see his natural skin color. His cropped hair gives him the appearance of a young boy. A well-chosen dark gray suit, white shirt and silver tie complete his elegant look. But looks don't matter here. The happiness written on his face is important. Such a happy ZZH wants to see next year.❤️
Today, we'll take another look back. This time, we'll be looking at photos of ZZH from a 2010 Pepsi commercial from a series promoting Tropicana or a related PepsiCo campaign in China. This was one of ZZH's first professional campaigns after his debut in the drama "How Could I Love You" (怎么会爱上你), where he played the lead role as a young basketball player. The shirt he wears here, with its "LANEY 23" print, is a tribute to Michael Jordan's high school (Laney High School), which fits the ad's sports theme, with ZZH posing on the court with a ball, emphasizing the energy and youthfulness that were key to Pepsi's campaigns targeting Chinese youth at the time. ZZH was 19 at the time, as evidenced by his appearance: shorter hair and a more boyish appearance. This ad was part of a broader Pepsi strategy in China, where the brand often collaborated with rising stars and sports themes to compete with Coca-Cola. The outfit ZZH wore at the time was a classic, very "American" high-school basketball look, which was extremely fashionable among young people in China at the time. He wore a white Nike tank top with blue trim and a large "LANEY 23" print. He also wore loose-fitting light blue basketball shorts with white side stripes. He wore classic white Nike sneakers, likely from the Jordan line. The ad from which these ZZH photos were taken lasts about 30 seconds and is very dynamic, with a "youth + basketball + refreshment" style. The whole thing has a very fresh, summery feel, even though the photos were taken in the spring of 2010. The ad was heavily broadcast on Chinese television and platforms like Youku/Tudou throughout 2010 and early 2011. ZZH looks so boyish in these photos; he was still a teenager, 19 years old, but despite the lack of makeup, his incredible beauty is still evident. ZZH has a hairstyle very fashionable at the time, with longer hair from the top combed forward over his forehead, creating thick bangs. He's very slim here, but you can see that he's slowly working on his physique. I chose the photo of ZZH standing on the pitch with his head slightly bowed, his right hand clenched into a fist, and the fingers of his left hand hidden in the pocket of his shorts. His pose looks as if he's preparing for an attack. We only see one of his fetuses; the other is hidden by his hair, which doesn't stop us from admiring his beautiful face. I like these first boyish photos of ZZH because he looks so sweet in them.
There are some photos of ZZH that I find difficult to place in time, and I often search online for clues. As far as I can tell, the photos are from March 26, 2021, and are part of a photoshoot for Harper's Bazaar magazine (Chinese edition, known as 时尚芭莎). It was a promotional fashion shoot in which ZZH posed in a casual, creative setting—cutting old jeans with gold scissors, symbolizing the "DIY" style and relaxed aesthetic. The shoot was part of a broader campaign for the magazine in conjunction with the broadcast of the drama Word of Honor (山河令), in which ZZH played the lead role. The photos were published on the magazine's and ZZH's official Weibo channels. For this shoot, ZZH wore a casual, summery outfit with a minimalist yet stylish feel, perfectly matching the homey, creative atmosphere of the shoot. So, here he's dressed in an oversized, loose-fitting white shirt, with long sleeves rolled up a bit for comfort while "working" with scissors. The shirt is unbuttoned, revealing a section of a blue T-shirt, adding layering and a casual vibe. The white shirt has a subtle, natural sheen, accentuating his slim figure and shoulders – the whole thing looks like high-quality, branded clothing. The rest of ZZH's wardrobe isn't visible, but based on the context of the shoot and the fragments of jeans on the table, he's likely wearing neutral trousers, matching a summery, loungewear outfit. He's probably wearing sneakers, as that's what we're used to from ZZH. In his hands, ZZH holds a pair of gold scissors, which he uses to cut sections of blue jeans spread out on the table. On the ring finger of his left hand, ZZH wears a silver ring with a wide, matte band. He also wears small silver earrings in his ears, as standard, tiny hoops, which give him a youthful touch. Additional props lie on the table: green spools of thread, pink buttons, a pencil, and a sketchbook, suggesting a DIY theme. The entire outfit highlights ZZH's natural, boyish charm – it's comfortable, casual, with an emphasis on textures and neutral colors. His hair is styled in a neat, slightly tousled hairstyle for a "fresh out of bed" effect, and the makeup is minimal: natural skin with a slight sheen and defined eyebrows. It's a look that combines streetwear with artistic DIY, perfect for a fan of Word of Honor, where ZZH played an elegant yet rebellious warrior. I especially love this photo of ZZH sitting, focused on using scissors, trying his best to get the cut right without cutting himself. I admire him for not being afraid to show that he's not afraid of work that's mostly associated with women, and less often with men.
