every single last aspect of your life was organized.
since middle school rolled around, you'd made it a habit to make sure that not a single moment was wasted having to think about what you were planning to do the next moment. so you started to micromanage every aspect, from what food you were eating to what clubs lead to higher college enrollment rates.
different planners filled up your bookshelves at home, each one with a different purpose. school, clubs, work, and the spare time that you'd allocated towards your family and friends.
each one was carefully adorned with color coded sticky notes and highlighters, each one planning out every second of your life for the next five years. from the moment that you woke up, to how long you allowed yourself to be in the bathroom, and how much you got to sleep—not a second was wasted or unaccounted for.
and in being so painfully organized, you forgot to account for one important thing: signing up for classes before every one else got their grubby hands all over the good ones. (which in your case meant doing it a month early)
you hesitantly put in your information into the system login, bottom lip caught between your teeth as you scrolled to the 'enroll in new classes section.' though you supposed the positive of this situation was that they couldn't be too bad either way—you'd taken care of all the 'hard' courses and all you had were cores to take.
you were scrolling through the course sheet for what seemed to be an eternity, almost hoping that an open spot would materialize for a professor you recognized. refreshing the page, you were immediately met with the same screen again. the same four classes that popped up on your screen.
after twenty minutes of painfully creating a schedule that would satisfy your requirements with what little options you had available, you were done. you didn't even bother to check ratemyprofessor, deciding to just snap your laptop shut before you could overthink this situation.
at least you still managed to get it done. right.
how bad could it possibly be?
your first day of classes started at 5:00 a.m., your alarm blaring through all rooms of the house before the sun had even finished coming up. your first class started at 9:30 which gave you approximately 2 hours to get yourself ready for the day before your hourly commute to campus.
the first few classes that you'd had throughout the day weren't all that bad for the few options you had, most professors going over the syllabus and course materials before letting the class go early. you spent most of your time in the library, for that matter, getting your readings done for the next week.
you stepped into your 3:30 class at precisely 3:10, not one second before and not one second after and took a seat right at the front of the class where the professor would memorize your face with ease. then, you got your laptop and notebook out of your backpack, carefully aligning them within the confines of your space.
following that, came your assortment of different colored pens. because, no, you weren't like the rest of your classmates who only depended on one pencil and a five subject notebook to carry them through the school year. you used black for general notes, blue for important notes, and green for vocabulary terms.
sure, your system was a little bit chaotic, but it worked. for the most part.
more students started to pour in as the clock ticked closer to 3:30, opting to sit in the far back rows. your back straightened out while you were opening up your laptop, getting the syllabus already pulled up on your screen to see what'd be required.
and then the professor stepped in at exactly 3:30, each conversation that was happening in the room coming to a stop. he dropped his heavy briefcase on his desk before making his way up to the podium, clearing his throat to demand attention.
he tapped his hand against the mic twice before speaking, "good morning class, my name is dr. gakuganji," he made sure to put an emphasis on the doctor before he continued, "this will not be an easy class so don't expect it to be. there will be no syllabus week, no ice breakers and getting to know one another, no easing you into the class. we will be starting with the infamous baby project."

brought back into the institute after a surge in pregnancies through the campus, in hopes that after learning how grueling the tasks of parenting can be, people would want to start wrapping it before they tapped it. (it didn't work, the school just started giving out goody bags with a singular condom inside and a minuscule bottle of lube)
"you will be placed with a partner to complete this eight week long project, and it will count as a part of your final grade for this course. this baby does everything that a human baby does, it cries, it poops, and it gets sick. and no, you can not switch your partner once i have called your name."
of course you had to get stuck with a professor who treated his class like it was the only one that mattered.
you looked around the room, hoping to see someone that you recognized. someone, some kind of bright light that wouldn't be too painful to work with. you came up with zilch. zero. nothing.
professor gakuganji continued speaking for twenty more minutes despite that nearly everyone had zoned him out by now, waiting for the end of his speech. then he started to call out names. you leaned forward when you heard your name being called, "—and ryomen sukuna."
your heart nearly dropped to your ass.
ryomen sukuna. you recognized the name.
everybody on campus did. but not as the sort of bright light that you were hopelessly searching for earlier. everyone else knew him as the one that managed to get the team out of a losing streak into the state championship, and winning with a 50 point lead. however, you knew of him much differently.
you knew of him for being an asshole who never showed up to class, maybe once or twice if he really needed to. his basketball career was hanging on its last thread being the only thing that was carrying him throughout college.
and maybe as 'community dick' as the rest of the girls in your year had dubbed him. needless to say, the idea of this wasn't making you thrilled whatsoever. a headache started to pound in the forefront of your skull.
normally, you'd take control in a group setting. disregard everyone else's protests when you completely deleted their work to modify it to your liking—making sure that it was in a times new roman font, 12, double spaced, mla style format, and grammatical errors nowhere to be seen.
but you couldn't exactly do that in this situation. professor gakuganji had made it a point to where both members of the group needed to contribute towards this project, installing some detector inside the dolls that were making your life a personal hell.
every one else got up from their seat, shuffling around the room in an attempt to find their partner. your eyes darted around the room to find the 7ft oaf, not that he'd be hard to miss in the first place, only to come up empty. great.
first day of class and the bastard didn't even bother to show up.
you stood up, making your way to the professor's desk. "excuse me dr. gakuganji, but i'd like to request to change partners," you spoke up, trying not to add that you'd be willing to work with just about anybody except him.
"did you not hear what i said at the end? no changing partners," he didn't even bother to look up from the obnoxious article he was reading, putting his finger in his mouth where a large wab of spit glimmered off of before he flipped to the next page.
and that should've been enough for you to leave the subject. should've being the key term here. you were desperate. "well, yes, but my partner isn't here, and don't you think that speaks about the kind of parent you're placing my baby with?" you responded, keeping your voice as level as you could.
gakuganji looked up from his article, seemingly sizing you up before an agitated scoff left his lips. he was probably counting down the days until his retirement at this rate. but nonetheless, "give me a reasonable argument why and i'll let you switch your partner."
you clasped your hands together, "look, professor, i understand that this project is meant for us to work together as a team. but if my assigned partner can't be bothered to make it and i'm able to do handle the workload alone, shouldn't i be able to?"
and just as you were certain that gakuganji was about to change his mind, he looked up to see the doorknob jiggling before the door swung open. and now, your heart really did fall to your ass. out of all the two times that he showed up to class, he had to show up now.
sukuna strolled into the classroom with fifteen minutes remaining on the clock, the door shutting behind him with a loud thud. he didn't have a care in the world—sunglasses perched up over his nose and a hoodie with pajamas pants thrown on like he'd just woken up. if you had to guess, you'd say that he just did wake up.
"yo, what's up man? crazy party last night," toji spoke from his spot in the back seat, yet another individual you were surprised to see in class, before they dapped each other up.
"that's your partner, isn't it?" you heard behind you, the reminder shooting down your body like a bucket of ice cold water.
a quiet sigh left your lips before you turned to the professor, one last argument on the tip of your tongue before he quickly dismissed it, "no. if you're not satisfied, drop the damn class. but you're not changing partners."
you really, really regretted not looking at ratemyprofessor.
begrudgingly, you picked up the plastic baby from the table and made your way over to where sukuna was sitting in the far back. he sprawled back against the seat, hands stuffed in his pocket without so much as a backpack or pen in sight. just a nearly empty can of redbull sitting on his desk.
he had a smug look on his face as he watched you approach, unabashedly staring up at you until you took a seat next to him. "thought you were too good to work with me?" sukuna propped his head against his hand, clearing taking pleasure in your discomfort.
"yes actually," you responded, your tone cold as you were fixing your stuff up on the desk before placing the plastic baby down. "but not for the reasons that you might think." sukuna looked at the thing like it was on the verge of coming alive.
he raised a pierced brow, leaning forward as if you were in an investigation, "so tell me why you were up there begging the professor to let you swap partners?"
"i asked him to swap because you weren't here and you don't even know what's going on now that you are here." you didn't bother entertaining him any further, pulling out a notepad to make a list of things you'd need.
diapers. baby formula. maybe some baby clothes if they were relatively cheap.
"so then, tell me what's going on," he responded easily, still relaxed against the back of the chair. precious minutes you could've spent planning out a good schedule were now ruined by you having to regurgitate gakuganji's lecture.
you looked up from your notepad then, seeing that he was being somewhat serious about the question. "basically we need to work together to get through the next eight weeks. prof's grading us on teamwork and on how the baby is—" you almost copied his spiel word for word, continuing for another five minutes.
"—did you get all that?" you turned to look at him when all you were met with was silence, your jaw almost dropping at the sight. the asshole had really fallen asleep while you were in the middle of your explanation. unbelievable.
tap. tap. tap. your nail dug into his forearm as you forcefully tapped at his arm, trying to get him to stay awake for more than five minutes. sukuna woke up with a groan, rubbing a hand over his face and gulping down whatever was left in his can of redbull. if the smell was anything to go by, he'd probably mixed it in with vodka before coming in.
"i'm not explaining that again so you better hope you listened to most part before you dozed off," you grumbled, going back to writing out the list of supplies you'd need to get. maybe add a couple parenting books in the mix, just to play it safe.
sukuna led out an obnoxious yawn, stretching his arms out to where they almost reached your chair. your back tensed at the slightest brush of his fingertips against you. he didn't notice. "yeah yeah, don't let the baby die and be a team," he muttered in response, waving you off.
you pulled out your planner, roaming through the different sections to find what days were best available for you. "okay, so can you tell me what days you're free to take care of the baby?" you questioned, pen in your hand like a weapon.
"nah, i kinda just like to go with the flow of things, y'know?" no, you didn't know. no, you weren't interested in learning what flow that was. "i'll let you know when i'm free though." and now he wanted you to acclimate to his chaos.
you felt your eye twitch. you weren't sure if you wanted to strangle him or shove your foot so far up his ass it came straight of his big fat mouth.
okay, no.
take a deep breath before you resort to violence.
in. and out. phew.
"look, i'd really appreciate it if you just told me what days you'd be able to take the baby and see if we need to work something out," you spoke as calmly as possible, clicking the pen in your hand.
sukuna was determined to be as difficult as possible. "i dunno, i'll work on it when i work on it," he shrugged, letting out a yawn like he was on the verge of falling asleep on you. again. "stop stressing out so much, you already look like you're fifty with how much frowning you do."
your jaw ticked. sure, he was determined to be an ass, but you were just as determined not to let him get to you. "i'll stop stressing out when you just give me a damn schedule to go by." your fingers tightened against the pen in your hand, your grip iron tight.
and almost as if the plastic piece of junk in your lap could sense that you were unhappy, it grew unhappy too. loud, shrieking cries filled the auditorium, every one in front of you turning their head to look at you like it was your fault. you cradled the baby in your arms, hoping that it would quiet down.
it did not. if anything, the plastic baby seemed to cry with a vengeance now. it cried harder, shaking in your arms like it was being tortured. sukuna let out a huff beside you, grasping one hand around its ankle before dragging it over to his lap. "you really suck at this, y'know that?" he mocked, one hand behind the baby's head while he rocked it back and forth.
"like you can do any bett-" the retort on your tongue instantly died down as the baby in his arms started to quiet down, its sobs going down to a quiet whimper before it started cooing against his chest. sukuna looked up at what seemed to be the millions of eyes directed towards him, barking out a sharp, "what?"
they all quickly turned back around, pretending like they weren't even looking in the first place. you stared at sukuna, baffled that the baby seemed to prefer him over you. "what the fuck?" you whispered quietly, watching the baby giggle underneath harsh tickles on its belly.
sukuna only shrugged in response, "baby doesn't like when you're uptight," he chuckled like it was the funniest thing ever. toji turned around from his spot, quickly shooting him a high five. you were barely surviving a quarter of an hour with him, you weren't sure how you were gonna get through these eight weeks.
"alright, we're at the end of our class," professor gakuganji spoke up from his spot on the podium again, "good work to some of you." he gave you a pointed look, everyone once again turning to look at you. "i'll see you next week. make sure to bring the baby with you to class so i can grade your progress."
your classmates had managed to stop staring in your direction long enough to pack up their bags and slowly trickle out of the classroom, leaving the two of you alone with the professor. the professor who was staring the two of you down, counting down the seconds until you exited this classroom.
sukuna handed the baby back to you, the doll starting to fuss once again in your arms like you'd scorned her, before he spoke, "drop her off at my dorm tomorrow. you got this for today though, nerd."
and just as you were about to ask him where his dorm was (and also tell him not to call you that), he left you dumbstruck with a crying plastic baby.
as the baby continued to cry, you came to realize that no, you really don't got this.
you were average. average looks, average body, average grades. nothing popped out about you, you went under everyone's radars. no boys asked you out, no girls wanted to become friends. you were practically a loner - you had no one close enough to even call an acquaintance.
your life at college was quiet, oh how quickly that would turn around.

You spend your days splitting yourself between school, home, and your personal life. After 7pm, right after news, comes some soap opera you're never allowed to watch. But the few times you manage to sneak a glance, you see the wealth. The lavishness some of the characters live in. You see the poor main character that comes from humble origins just like you. You follow up the story through friends privileged enough to watch it. You hear about their sheer determination to make it, and that motivates you. Maybe you'll start a business. Something easy that won't exhaust your mom and make a lot of money to get your siblings through school. Or maybe you'll become something like an engineer or a lawyer. You hear those pay well.
Too bad you end up enlisting in your country's defense forces.

Something something omegaverse where alpha!Price, Simon and Gaz have to find a ‘replacement’ sarg for omega!Johnny because he’s gone and got himself injured and can’t be in the field for a while. They wind up with another omega, and find themselves more attached than they thought they would be. So they decide to keep said omega on, thinking Johnny can have a friend and some respite from being the only omega.
Except you hate Johnny. The moment you meet him you’re baring fangs and hissing, sat next to Kyle on the couch and almost dragging your teeth across his neck. Conversely, Johnny doesn’t seem to notice (doesn’t seem to care).
Sits himself right down next to you, flings an arm over your shoulder and chatters away to you- all the while you’re about two inches away from tearing his face off (barely restrained by Kyle, with an arm wrapped around your midsection).
Simon suggests taking you out of the picture, temporarily. No point in upsetting you, and he doesn’t fancy his Johnny losing an eye. Price disagrees, thinks the two of you should work it out on your own.
So they set you to spar. They spectate, in case they need to jump in and separate you. The fight is bloody; you on a full offensive and Johnny doing nothing but sticking his hands up everytime you throw a punch. By the mid-way point he’s missing a few tufts of hair, and you’ve shredded his right hand with bite marks.
Except you’re starting to exhaust, and Johnny has barely broken a sweat. The fight winds up with your stomach pressed to the mattress, arm twisted behind your back as Johnny perches on top of you, rubbing his face into your neck and purring at you for giving him such a good fight.
Every time you lose your temper with Johnny, you’re tossed into the ring with him. Sometimes you win, most times you lose- often with you being in some sort of compromising position as Johnny rubs against you and lathers you in his scent.
The problem is that you don’t like to share, whereas Johnny has no problem with it. He’s a bit annoyed you won’t share your nesting materials with him, or your shirts (and definitely not your underwear, despite him trying), but he just waits until your not looking and replaces something of yours with his until you stop realising he’s doing it.
When you go into heat, you expect that Simon, Kyle and Price will help out. They said they would. Though you’re not sure how exactly they’re helping when they’ve locked you in a room with Johnny and he’s two fingers deep in you, letting you bite down on his shoulder and claw his back to bits. Promising that if you just let yourself go, he can make it better.
He makes sure you let yourself go more than a handful of times that night. And when the other three do decide to come help, you’re half-asleep on Johnny’s chest. Johnny thinks it’s funny to announce to the rest of them that he ‘thinks you’ve got the gist of things now’. You bare your fangs at him for that, but it’s a bluff, because he tucks your underwear into his bedside drawer and you don’t even bat an eye.

okay I've been seeing so much discourse about characterization and the popularity of smut particularly in fanfics, and while usually, I keep my mouth shut lol I just wanted to chime in with my two cents because I think its more nuanced than people want to admit - and just a heads up I will block anyone who wants to be a dick in the comments because this is supposed to be a constructive conversation about being more supportive and fostering a more interactive community as a whole - this is NOT to shame anyone who prefers fluff to smut or vice versa.
the reason there's so much smut on here is simple. and I've literally seen people call it a porn addiction problem, but really, I think it is much rather an attention-span problem. other content does not get nearly as much traction point-blank. the only content that will get even CLOSE to as much traction is smaus - because they are easy to read and include typically every character so it caters to everyone but if you don't write smaus, most people will not stick around to read a wall of text unless they recognize the account or it is formatted a particular way. ESPECIALLY WHEN IT COMES TO LONG FORM CONTENT.
short blurbs/drabbles of fluff do occasionally get popular - but if it's a long fic? a slow burn or build? it will often get scrolled past. people say they want this and want long fics and all the drama and angst, and then only read completed fics rather than interact with an ongoing one that would encourage the creator to actually complete it. and a lot of times if the long fic contains no to very little smut, they will rarely get interaction at all. and yeah, sure, sometimes it's just life or other stuff that get in the way, but I think most people with unfinished fics would credit that to lack of motivation.
a LOT of creators who DID start writing fluff or only longer content on here end up switching over time because it can be so disheartening to see something you work on essentially flop. and I would say that for most of them - its NOT just about notes. it's about actually commenting and really INTERACTING with people over it. a comment is going to mean a lot more than a like.
my most popular post on here is this - which is literally less than 400 words and feeds into the most popular characterization of a nanami. and if you look at a majority of the most popular content for this fandom - you'll find a lot of the same. short, easily consumable, and based around sex in some way.
while stuff that goes AGAINST what the popular fandom version of a character will get you the bad kind of interaction where people complain about and start arguments over your own interpretation of a character. myself and SEVERAL other creators I've spoken to privately on here have experienced it where people latch onto a specific perception of a character and lash out when it's challenged. and typically, it's over a character where there isn't a lot of long form content for (WHICH THEY SAY THEY WANT!) however, they fail to realize by acting this and directing this negativity TOWARDS creators and making demands, it turns them off from ever writing for said character again.
if you dislike something a character does or is portrayed or you want to see it a certain way, you SHOULD scroll then. it is your responsibility to choose what content you consume or write it yourself. fan fiction is geared towards the fans - but that doesn't mean it's made for YOU specifically. publicly posting and saying that you hate when writers do x thing that is hyper specific and openly disparages on someone else's creation is really damaging as a whole to what should be a fun space.
just let people write whatever weird and wild shit they want. if you don't like it, move on. if you do, you have to show it. comment and like and leave asks and start conversations. I know it's awkward at first and it's hard to put yourself out there, but I promise that it's scary for the creators too! most of them will genuinely be THRILLED if you leave a comment or an ask - even if they don't respond right away. so many people are silent observers, which I don't blame you for, I actually completely understand, but as someone who has seen and experienced first-hand what a big difference there can be on posts with smut vs without smut, it is very easy to see what makes something popular despite what is actually good quality writing. some really fantastic posts I've seen have CRIMINALLY low notes and there's been a few that I've literally hated with all my heart that had thousands. but did I post about those? no. I blocked and moved on with my life.
if you want more fluff, you HAVE to interact with fluff. if you don't like smut, just block the tags. if you enjoy a creator's work, tell them!
there are already so many toxic places and fandoms already out there - and there are definitely corners where this one is too. but as someone with a pretty decent platform, I would like to make it clear that we should all foster as supportive of an environment as possible and start a positive and more informative conversation about it rather than just shitting on people who enjoy smut or dismiss those who genuinely just want more fluff/angst content. I know I've said it before, but I'm going to reiterate it again - if you ever read a good fic, tag me! I don't always have a lot of time to read, but I do reblog the ones I enjoy and come across so I'd be more than happy to highlight what you send me too.
