Makorra fanart inspired fic # 4
Korra slid in the snow to dodge a hurling snowball aimed straight for her head and it all flew up in her face. She threw her arms up and used waterbending to create a snow shield which just barely stopped the snowball.
"Hey! No fair using bending, if I use mine this game is over." Mako exclaimed, hidden behind a tree and breathing heavily. This game was intense.
"How is that my problem?" Korra answered, rolling her eyes and jumping up from the ground, rolling a counter snowball before she was even standing upright again.
"Ugh! Korra always cheats." Ikki pouted next to her teammate Jinora. They had decided for once to join forces since they were going against the big kids, but it wasn't helping so far.
"Yeah, she's not even that good, she's just the only waterbender." Jinora folded her arms and used her air to stir up more snow to cover her and Ikki.
Ikki's eyes widened and she squealed so loud Jinora clamped a hand over her mouth. "Shut it!"
"Sorry." She mumbled, and the moment her sister let go, she blurted: "What if we band together with Mako! Then we might have a chance."
"Don't be silly Ikki," Jinora waved her hand and continued watching Mako and Korra battle it out, Mako was flipping over several large snowballs Korra sent in his direction and they kept on coming, all while Korra laughed like a maniac. He was toast. "Mako's a firebender, he can't help us. And besides, joining him makes it worse for us because she won't leave him alone. She's not even giving us a challenge."
Ikki pouted and narrowed her eyes. She had a good idea and she was going to prove it.
She got up and jumped out of the cover, knowing exactly how to get Korra.
"Hey, over here!" She waved her arms and ran into the battlefield, her heart in her ears.
Korra's focus on Mako broke and she paused her large snowball attack. "Get out of the way Ikki!" She was already irritated they had joined her and Mako down here, meaning she had to play with them, but that didn't mean she was going to let them ruin her perfect opportunity to show Mako up.
Ikki ignored Korra's command and the way it hurt her, wrapping up a snowball with her hands quickly and throwing it at Mako.
"I'm gonna get him out first!" She yelled and Korra's nostrils flared.
"Oh, no you're not!" How had that little girl known her goal? And now she was going to take it from her? Not a chance!
Korra was going to take Ikki out first, then she'd be ready to go in for the kill.
Mako easily dodged Ikki's snowball but felt genuinely afraid of Korra's determined expression - he was just glad it wasn't directed toward him anymore, because he had a goal of his own.
He was an athlete and no one beat him at a game, not even his brother and not even in the snow where he couldn't use his bending.
Used to working against insurmountable odds, this was going to be easy work.
But Ikki would not leave him alone. She followed him everywhere he ran - around trees, when he flipped over the mound of snow where Jinora was hidden, contemplating going free for all on each of them.
And Korra was right on her heels, throwing snowballs like it was nobody's business. She resorted to using her legs to form large snowballs and roll them at both of them. Two for the price of one.
But this was exactly what Ikki wanted. She used air to trip Mako up as the massive snowball came towards them and Mako fell out of the way, leaving her open in tiem for the snowball to make contact, knocking her to the snowy ground.
Right in front of Jinora's little hideout.
"It's your turn, finish the job!"
Jinora was at a loss for words, what the heck was she going to do?! Her teammate was out and she had just been watching wondering where she was going to get an opening.
But Korra hadn't missed a beat. Mako ,having tripped over his feet, was laying there in an icy patch trying to stand and failing each time.
Punching her fists together haughtily, Korra rolled her neck and created what she knew was going to be the winning snowball of the game.
"Any last words?" She asked, gloating as she slowly approached him, pulling her arm back.
"How's: This is completely unfair, for last words?" Mako replied frustratedly, still trying to push himself off the ground.
it was then that Jinora saw her opening. Korra was so focused on Mako that she didn't see her crawl out of the hole and concoct a snowball, the biggest she could. And then with her arirbending, hurled it at the avatar with everything she had.
"I'm going to enjoy th-" Korra's words were cut short as she went sprawling to the ground from the impact of Jinora's snowball. Mako watched the whole thing happen in slow motion - Korra being hit, flying and then going right into the lake.
Jinora jumped up and down. "At last, I won!" She exclaimed and helped Ikki up off the ground
All for a snowball to hit her right in the shoulder.
"Thanks for your help." he smirked, having stood up. "I could see Ikki's strategy from a mile away. We call it the runaround, works in Pro-Bending every time."
"No fair!!" Jinora yelled, frustrated.
Ikki just shook her head. "I told you we should have teamed up with him!"
Mako threw his head back and chuckled and then looked around.
"Is Korra still in the river?" Ikki turned around with wide eyes then took off to rescue her.
But Jinora stopped her and gestured to Mako who was already diving into the water.
Mako wasn't the proudest of his swimming ability but he pushed his arms and legs as hard as he could, searching for Korra in the water.
There she was!
Floating with her head down, eyes closed.
She was a waterbender and he knew she knew how to swim... how was she gone under here?
It scared Mako immediately and he wrapped his arms around her to bring her back to the surface, his lungs feeling like they were getting ready to burst.
Gulping in air the moment their heads broke the surface of the water, Mako attempted to clear his eyes by blinking them three times.
One
Two
Three-
The third time, he saw Korra's eyes open wide;
"Gotcha!"
She dunked him back under the water then swept together a water cyclone up up into the air and back onto the snowy ground.
Jinora and Ikki watches in giddy awe as Mako gasped for breath and Korra laid on the ground laughing.
Once he'd gained back some, he lifted up and just shook his head.
"You just never let up.."
Korra, still laughing loudly, nodded and leaned up to give him a sweet kiss.
"Awwww!" Ikki exclaimed.
And Korra jumped up immediately, running after her. "You better not tell anyone you saw that!"
She stuck her tongue out and fled on an airball, leaving Jinora rolling her eyes and going back into the house. Mako stayed there a little longer, his cheeks flushed and his lip curled in a grin.
Wow, thank you all for the love on this piece<3 ❤️ 💕
HAPPY RESSURECTION SUNDAY!
If you didn't know, JESUS DIED FOR YOU<3 and this is the day we celebrate HIM RISING AGAIN ! Hope you all feel loved today but even if you don't, YOU ARE! Talk to Jesus, He wants to hear from you!
korra and mako both have hand tremors but mako’s is more specifically in his fingers while korra’s is in her entire hands
Gonna cry thank you
I’ve noticed that people who get caught up in ship wars are usually the ones who don’t create their own content. Every time someone says, “These two shippers of different ships are arguing,” I genuinely think, what? For real. It’s because I don’t engage with the fandom side in that way anymore; I focus on my own content instead of depending on other creators or consumers for entertainment, content, or drama.
It’s basically a mindset shift: watching vs. making. When you’re making, fandom conflicts feel distant and kind of irrelevant, because your main “ship” is with your own creativity. Being a creator puts your energy into building something you control, so the drama is something you genuinely forget exist.
Disliking a ship is fine.
Critiquing its development, pacing, or chemistry? Totally valid.
Dehumanizing someone for liking something you don’t?
That crosses a line!
NO SHIP IS WORTH TREATING ANOTHER HUMAN BEING LIKE THAT!!!

Mako gives me enfj or istp vibes for real. Even like...estj!! That's my final answer I think.
As an enfj i catch myself relating to him so much and I think it's on a fundamental level bc we're both the eldest and had to like..be serious or whatever to survive.
I just wanna see him chill out and flourish and be his best nerdy fanboy self. He's so intricate bruh. I really wanna get to know him more
Gonna cook up a cosplay for my boy finally 🙌🏿
