If there's one thing I'm grateful for about this place,

I believe the colloquial term is “preach it”(?) It stands for Chronic Insensitivity to Pain, so essentially I don’t feel pain.

We have a few different phrases for it where I'm from. Woah, that's gotta be kind of cool, right? I mean, you wouldn't feel...actually, no, it probably sucks. How do you know if you're hurt?

"Are they?" she questioned, quickly turning her head around to look at her lab partners, before turning back to Ryder as he laced his fingers with hers. "That’s so awkward, I’m so sorry," Darcey said, chuckling slightly as they walked. She let her boyfriend lead her away from the crowded area, not even caring that she had just left all her things there. Once the pair came to a stop behind the large, secluded tree, Darcey released his hand and leaned back against the trunk, smiling fondly up at the Australian.

The teenager laughed, brushing the situation off casually. "It's fine, I guess I'd be surprised too if a couple had a crazy intense reunion right in front of me," he said with a small smile. Once the pair were away from prying eyes, Ryder glanced down at Darcey and returned her smile. "Are you okay?" he asked abruptly, suddenly wondering what he had missed in his girlfriend's life this week that they hadn't been talking.

A Friendly Game || Ryder&Mallory

Mallory stood and bounced back on the balls of her feet, eyeing the soccer balls with uncertainty. This was a bad idea. She turned to look at the boy once he spoke and tried not to let her nerves completely break through the surface. She had no idea she looked nervous. What had given it off? She decided not to address it in the hopes he wouldn’t dwell on it too much. “Funnily enough,” she started, smirking as she spoke. “I was going to say the exact same thing to you Ryder.” She tucked a piece of hair behind her ear that hadn’t stayed in the hair tie. She walked over to the line of soccer balls and gave one a light kick in Ryder’s direction. “Are you ready?” she asked.

Ryder scoffed and raised an eyebrow at the blue-eyed girl. "I was born ready," he said, a grin breaking across his face. The boy's usual pre-sport adrenaline had begun to kick in, and he quickly caught the ball under his right foot. "I'll go that way," he told his friend, gesturing to the distant set of goals on his left. With a smirk, he began dribbling it straight down the field, slowly at first, but then he gradually picked up the pace.

A massive blush immediately formed on the blonde’s fair cheeks and she looked down, biting her lip. “Oh?” she said, yet it came out more as a question. She could only imagine what was going through her boyfriend’s head, and that thought made her face heat up more. Looking up just in time to see Ryder’s lips no more than a centimeter away, Darcey leaned in slightly, expecting him to meet her halfway. In a second, however, he was gone and there was a muffin tin on the metal counter. “What’s the magic word?” she taunted, pushing Ryder out of the way with her hip as began pouring the batter into the tins.

The dark-haired boy emitted a throaty chuckle while shaking his head at Darcey's innocence. "Um, I love you?" he asked, a crease forming between his eyebrows. "No, that's three words. Uh, cheese? Batman? Nipple?" Picking up another spoon, Ryder imitated the girl's actions until all of the tins were filled. Besides some of the chocolate having spilled onto counter-top, it looked pretty good to him. With a satisfied grin, the boy picked up the tray and moved over to the oven. "It's on right?" he double-checked with his girlfriend, leaning over to open the oven door.

So, they found my lighter.

Don’t be sorry for anything that is about my sister, she’s not worth of being sorry for. And I’m perfectly fine with it. Yeah I have a brother, luckily. What about you?

Alright. What's his name? Oh, well, I don't technically have any siblings. But I'm a foster kid, so I've got a sort-of sister.

A Friendly Game || Ryder&Mallory

Mallory was briskly walking towards the soccer field she could see in the distance. She was running a little late due to the fact she had asked for directions and she hoped that Ryder was running a little late too but as she came closer to the field she could see him there already, but she didn’t think he could see her. She let out a quiet sigh and shook her head, trying to stop her thoughts which were telling her to turn around. She had given herself a lovely pep talk while getting into more sports appropriate attire but right now the last thing she wanted to do was play a fucking game of soccer. But even though her head was telling her to turn around, as she came into ear shot she called out; “Hey Ryder! Sorry I’m so late,” and let her lips curve into an apologetic smile.

At the sound of a familiar English-accented voice, Ryder's head turned and he grinned at the girl making her way down the hill. "It's cool, don't worry," he called back, his voice getting softer as she came closer. He shoved his hands in his back pockets as he walked over to the line of soccer balls that had conveniently been left at the edge of the field after the last sport class. "You look a little nervous," the dark-haired boy noted, looking back at his friend. "If it makes you feel better, I'm not as brutal as those girls you played. I'll even go easy on you," he added with a grin.

The blonde shrugged, an innocent smirk on her face. “Like I said, babe..If you’re lucky.” Drumming her fingers on the cool metal counter cop, Darcey raised both eyebrows, blatantly giving her boyfriend a once over before taking slow steps toward him. “And what’s in it for me?” she questioned cheekily, coming to a stop just in front of Ryder, leaving only a couple inches of space in between them.

Ryder bit his lip, hoping that what he was thinking at that moment wasn't evident on his face. "Oh, I'll give you a special something tonight," he told her with a smirk. Teasingly, he brought his lips close to hers, then quickly turned away and ducked under the countertop. Swiftly, he pulled out a muffin tray and lifted it onto the bench. With a small upturn of his lips, the boy pushed the bowl, tray and a spoon towards his girlfriend and looked at her expectantly. "Show me how to do it," he said.

At the feeling of her boyfriend’s fingers tightening on her waist, Darcey pressed herself closer to him, wanting to be as close with him as possible. “Ryder,” she mumbled, bringing a hand up to run her fingers over the stubble on his jawline, love and affection clearly visible on her face. “I’m so proud of you. So, so proud.” Gaze flicking around her peers momentarily, the blonde’s hands dropped to Ryder’s shoulders, rubbing them soothingly. “Wanna go some place else?”

At his girlfriend's heartfelt words, a rope knotted in Ryder's throat. A big part of him hated how Darcey could him feel so painfully vulnerable, but he tried to embrace the unfamiliar feeling. The boy glanced around before nodding. "Yeah, your friends are staring. It's starting to creep me out," he added, his slightly swollen lips stretching into a grin. Taking the blonde's hand that was tiny in comparison to his own, Ryder led them a few minutes walk away and stopped behind a large tree that was in the process of shedding its golden-brown leaves.

Close? I’m as close as her than I’d be with this school’s principal. Even then, I probably care more for the principal since I talked to him already twice today which never happens with  my bitch of sister.

With his hands in the pockets of his shorts, Ryder made his way down the grassy hill behind the school. As he strolled towards the soccer field, he glanced around, wondering when Mallory would arrive. They had agreed to meet after classes, but the boy hadn't seen his friend since lunch time. Honestly, Ryder really liked her; she was cool and laid-back, and he was looking forward to a friendly game of soccer. His impatience made him itch for a cigarette, but remembering his promise to his girlfriend, he pulled out a piece of gum instead and popped it in his mouth.

Ryder’s eyes bore into hers as he pulled away, and Darcey wrapped her arms around his neck, continuing to block out everything going on around them. Chest rising and falling rhythmically as she tried to catch her breath, she nodded. “Yeah,” she breathed out, returning his smile. “I missed you so much,” she murmured, letting her blue eyes roam over his face, before making eye contact once again. “I won’t bring it up again, alright?” she said, referring to the other day when she brought up his smoking habits.

Staring back into the blonde's gaze, Ryder splayed his fingers across her lower back, wanting to feel her close to him again. "Thank God," he said quietly, letting out a sigh of relief. "I missed you too," he mumbled, his fingers subconsciously tightening on her waist. The boy was only faintly aware of Darcey's friend still watching the couple awkwardly. At his girlfriend's next comment, Ryder felt himself tense. "No, no, you were right. I shouldn't do it so much. I um...I've been trying to pull back since we...talked," he admitted, feeling the tips of his ears burn slightly.

Stifling a laugh at Ryder’s reaction, the blonde turned back to the counter, waiting for the boy’s next move. “Maybe if you’re lucky,” she taunted, looking at her boyfriend out of the corner of her eye with a smirk on her face as he poured the melted chocolate in with the other ingredients. A pout formed on her face briefly as she mourned over her once perfectly curled hair. Snatching the bowl away from him, Darcey scooped up some chocolate on the spoon and flicked the glob right back at him, effectively getting chocolate all over his face as she giggled.

"I'll take that as a 'yes Ryder, I'll definitely get it out later and you're gonna love it'," the dark-haired boy said with a cheeky grin. He gasped as the contents of the spoon landed on his face, surprised by the cool, wet sensation. With a little smirk, he licked the chocolate from around his lips. "I can't exactly reach the rest, could I get some help here?" he asked, raising an eyebrow as he gestured to the splotches of chocolate that littered his face.

Thank god, if I’d said that back home I would’ve gotten a punch to the face. Not that it would’ve been effective.
