The feeling of finally being in his arms again, after weeks of silence and coldness between them, was the reason for the wide grin spreading over her lips. Eva didn’t notice Maria staring after them, mouth agape, and it was a wonder that they made it up the stairs and into her room without stumbling. “You’d be surprised at what I can handle.” The words rolled off her lips easily, eyebrows already raised teasingly.
