an unfinished writing of me trying my best to represent Morro, Lloyd and Kai's relationship the way i see it in my brain. i love these gay little heartbreakers you have no idea
Their relationship was anything but pure, Kai observed. He didn't mean to. Observe, he means. But how can he not when one of his best friends, the boy he saw as a brother, the person he thought of on those dark lonely nights- ahem. How was he supposed to just look past this?
He would listen to him, in the night. Lloyd whispering up at the ceiling, and very rarely it appeared his voice would change into something deeper. He would talk for hours, about anything, everything. It used to drive Kai insane, his bedroom being right next to Lloyd’s, until he realised it was far more entertaining just to listen. Not eavesdrop, no. Just, make sure everything was going well. He had been entrusted with the task of keeping the green ninja safe, after all.
One night, he heard Lloyd gently click open his bedroom door, and the soft clumping of his tattered trainers along the wooden floors. Kai’s eyes snapped open. Of course, he was no stranger to his fellow ninjas going out in the night, their lifestyles differred from one another so much after all, but Lloyd was… more interesting. He would go out and return a while later as normal, but oftentimes there would be the telltale sound of a second pair of footsteps, that would fade and return as if there was someone walking with him, taking…really long big jumps inbetween, thought Kai. So, as any responsible role model would, Kai decided to follow the blond outside.
Lloyd was always more in his element in the forests, far more than in the confines of any place populated by humans. His walking pattern would change, his stride widen, his hair seem to wave in a wind only he could feel. Kai thought he was beautiful. And tonight was no different, with Lloyd drifting through the silhouettes of the tall trees, Kai had to almost run to keep up with the boy. The lights of the Bounty got more and more distant, as they made their way through rock formations and streams so common of Ninjago’s wilderness.
