My latest model! A 1/20 scale figure kit of nipako (the god hand nippers mascot)! 

I modified her to look like venom snake from MGSV for some dumb joke and enjoyed working on it a lot. Though kits this small really are kind of a pain to work on, especially the paint... 

The boots I tried molding came out pretty meh but they look fine enough on something this small when I’m looking at it on my shelf. I’ve definitely got to practice more with putty work. 

I learned a lot though, and really like how the hair came out. I used some brown oil paint to basically make tons of tiny streaks in her hair to make it look less uniform.

I think I’ll probably work on something else before starting my next 1/20 figure kit, just to take a break lol.

It’s done! it feels like i’ve been working on this for way longer than I was haha. Man was this kit a pain, its got a ton of really thin parts that love to snap off when you’re putting them together. And to add some extra pain, this kit didnt have the rear wheel in the box so I had to make one from scratch... (mind you thins isn’t tamiya’s fault I’ve had this kit for well over 12 years and I apparently had already started building it since most of the engine was done when I opened it up haha. young me probably lost it at some point). 

Anyhow this is a tamiya BMW R80 GS that I modified to look more post-apocalyptic-y and I think it came out pretty neat!

What a mess.

I don’t usually care when weird stuff happens on tumblr mostly since I barley know how to use it as is. But this latest incident’s actually affecting me for some reason. Some of my older posts are being flagged for no apparent reason. It’s not even the slightly lewd things like my frame arms girl posts either, its just regular old gunpla setting it off!

It’s a shame since I have been getting used to tumblr, and I like the amount of images I can post in a single post on here, but I think I’ll be starting to post more on my twitter for now. Starting with posting most of the stuff I’ve done on here there just to have a place where it’ll stay up without me having to worry about it.

I’ll still be uploading things on here when I’m done, but I’ve decided to start posting a lot more work in progress stuff on there. It’ll also be a lot more calming knowing that whatever I post on there wont get taken down at some point without my knowledge and then have to wait who knows how long to get it back on my blog.

I’ll probably start posting my older stuff on twitter soon just to have it up somewhere since it seems that’s what tumblr is flagging anyhow.

It’s finally done!

My first tank kit in ages (first properly done one ever) is complete! 

This is a Tamiya PzKpfw. IV Ausf. H in 1/48th scale. Damn I really underestimated how much work can go into building a tank kit haha, the tracks especially. This was my first time ever working with tracks that had to be put together from various segments, In all the previous tank kits I’ve worked on they’ve been made from rubber and only had to be glued in one place to stay together. Another thing I could use practice on is hand painting, the figure that comes with this kit is really small and I feel like I had a lot of trouble with painting it.

Other than the tracks being something completely new to me the build went smoothly and painting was a lot of fun!

Its been pretty hectic for the last few months, never really had time to work on anything, but now I’ve got a few weeks off so here’s to getting back into the rhythm! 

I painted up the innocentia I had snapped up ages ago, and even gave her Jinrai’s legs since she’s not using them. There was no real specific theme really, I just felt like painting her up in the blue colorscheme since it fit the original pretty well.

One thing I do want to emphasize is TAKE CARE WHEN PAINTING THE JOINTS!! I keep forgetting how tight the joints fit together on these kits, so when putting the leg back together I snapped off the peg that goes through the knee on the right leg, thus I had to spend a good while digging it out and making a new peg for that leg. So either make sure the parts where the joints rub together are unpainted, or widen the holes/ thin down the pegs!  

That said though, I still really enjoy working on these kits!

Finished up my Lupus Rex today! I went for a sort of “king of werewolves” thing. You know because of the whole “king of wolves” thing the Barbatos Lupus Rex has going on.  

I was originally going to paint it black or dark gray because that’s the colors you usually think of when you think of werewolves, but I’m not a huge fan of black mobile suits in general. So I based it off the werewolves from FGO that are a sort of maroon/red and after playing around with some other secondary colors I got to a scheme I really liked. 

I didn't go too crazy with modding it, but I did make a few armor plates for the shoulder and the backs of the arm. And the two spikes on the other shoulder. It was a pretty fun build!

I’ve been pretty busy for a while, but now that I’m on break I was able to work on the Lupus rex a ton. I finished up all the mods I wanted to do to it and primed it today. I should be able to have it done by the end of this week if it all goes well! 

Its honestly surprising how much easier plaplate work was with extra thin cement. I guess having the right tools for the job helps lol. I’m glad I picked up a couple of bottles but its a shame I cant get any here.

This is what I’m going to be working on for the next while. A barbatos lupus rex! It was a pretty interesting build since it changes some of the “inner frame” the IBO HGs have, even though I was pretty used to putting these kinds of kits together it kind of threw me off for a bit. The arms especially.

For some reason I was under the impression that the arms were a bit smaller than they really are. Mind you I knew they were big, just not THAT big. A curious thing I did note was the plastic was a lot more fragile than I remember bandai’s being. Maybe I’ve just gotten used to how Kotobukiyas plastic is, but I snapped off one of the spiky parts on the back of the arm that cover up the sub arm by just handling it while removing the nubs. The same with the blue parts on the shoulder armor, (yes I know they’re upside down, my bad) they got pretty bad stress marks from just nub removal. I guess I should just be more careful lol.

I’m going to be modifying this kit quite a bit so I might start posting more WIP pictures of the whole process to keep things a little more active around here.

I built up a Blue version Innocentia over the past week and it was pretty fun. I really do like Kotobukiyas Frame Arms Girls kits, they’re always a ton of fun to put together and pose! 

I don’t Know if its the same for the regular version but this Blue Ver. came with a ton of different option parts. Other than the set of skin colored legs and arms you get another whole set of the mechanical ears in different colors and different pieces you can change out to change the color scheme to a more white/gray/blue one. 

I mainly got her so I could have something I could pose without having to worry about paint chipping and what not, and she works great for that. The articulation is great and with the weapons left over from my Jinrai and a couple of gunpla guns I got some really cool shots. The smug face is great too, it makes some poses feel that much more interesting! 

I’ll probably get around to painting her eventually, but I probably wont do anything too crazy. I’ve got a bigger project I want to take care of before that though so she’ll just stay as is for right now. 

Also I found out today that the Frame Arms Girl anime is getting a second season! The first was way better than it had any right to be so I hope they can keep the same tone and not try and cash out on its popularity.

Wow, I forgot how much time goes into military models. From sanding down mold lines and (trying) to remove seams it really reminded me how much Bandai and Kotobukia spoiled me with their kits. That’s not to insult Tamiya at all though. This is their SU-27 B2 Sea flanker kit and it was a lot of fun to work on. Tamiya’s quality is always a treat especially compared to other lesser known brands I’ve worked with semi-recently. 

The only major seam I had to remove was on the nose of the aircraft since the main fuselage comes in two pieces, the top and bottom so everywhere other than the nose the seam was hidden. I tried to match the colors on the box but ended up with a slightly different scheme, I guess it’s to be expected when you mix your own colors trying to match them by eye. 

I did screw up on the front cockpit glass though, I added a bit too much glue to the small clear part in front of it and it spilled onto a portion of the front glass part, I tried to scrape it off but that just left some scratches unfortunately. I might try to look into how to buff those out in the future.

As for weathering I just gave it a dark wash and tried to mimic soot and grime streaks on the bottom of the aircraft. and I gave the cockpit a dark wash too to bring out all the little details in it. I’m super happy with how the cockpit came out too! It took me a few hours painting all the small details with toothpicks and even a sewing needle! 

Over all I’m pretty happy with how it came out! After comparing it to some of the other military models I’ve built in the past I can really see the improvements and that makes me feel pretty good, but there’s still a lot of room to improve!

It’s been a while since I posted, been busy with all sorts of things. But I’ve gotten back into the swing of things with this kit! I just wanted something simple to paint up so I grabbed my unpainted graze and made it into a civilian themed mobile suit! I was going for a tugboat/fishing boat kind of vibe, a mobile suit that helps around in a port or at the docks or whatever, I tried out some streaking rust effects to sort of duplicate the look of real boats and I think it came out pretty well and I gave it a mast thing to help move boats around and signal them or whatever masts do (honestly I just thought it looked cool). I was also thinking of making a dock base for it but that’ll probably be further down the line since I’m still not confident in my diorama abilities.

1,000 Followers!

I can’t believe it, but I’ve somehow reached 1,000 followers today! 

It’s honestly a pretty big shock, I mean its been less than a year and I never really expected anything to come out of this blog. I started posting on here because of an artist friend (https://yunomari.tumblr.com/) told me I should start a blog to post my stuff. I didn’t think it’d be my thing honestly, but I decided to give it a shot. And now look at where it’s gotten me. 

1,000 followers, damn I really cant get over how many people that is. I’m really grateful to everyone that’s joined me so far, watching me slowly improve and some times mess up. I really have to learn how this site works, because whenever I respond to someone I don’t really know if they get it, like I’m responding to my own post under their comment? And if I’m having trouble with something like that who knows what scary features this website has that I don’t even know exist. 

Also I want to give a huge thank you to all of my mutuals who always like and reblog my stuff, I honestly appreciate it!

After a few weeks worth of work Yukikaze is finished! This is probably the hardest kit I’ve worked on so far, mostly because of the scale and my inexperience with airplane models.

For anyone not familiar, this is the 1/144 Mave (Ram air jet ver.) from platz, it’s from the Yukikaze novels/OVAs (sentou yousei Yukikaze if you’re looking for the ovas). They’re amazing books and I highly recommend them if you’re interested in some cool sifi dogfights and philosophical questions. The OVAs are fun on their own, but they’re made for people who’ve read the books and know what’s going on because they don’t really go into enough detail and can leave you confused. Also if you read the books please buy them! Hopefully someday soon the publisher will translate the last one but until then I’m stuck in perpetual suspense. 

Anyways, back to the kit. Since its so small masking was a pain, especially with the amount of different colors on the plane. The watersides were a nightmare too, they’re so small I ended up losing a few after thinking they’d stuck to the kit, at least platz provides a ton of extras for the small markings. I apologize if some of the white parts are a bit rough, I had to hand paint them and I’m not used to painting details that small lol. Over all though, it was a really interesting build, I might look into getting their super slyph sometime in the future.

Just in time for the end of the year, I finally finished working on my frame arms girls / strike witches combination! This was a really fun build, it took almost a month of work too. Modifying the planes to make them into striker units was pretty interesting, its been forever since I worked on an airplane model, well I guess this was more hacking apart than building though.  The gun was also pretty fun to make, I took a beam rifle from a gundam weapons set and tried to make it look as WWII-y as I could, the side mounted magazine came out really nice in my opinion. What a great way to end the year! Happy new year to everyone, and here’s to more fun builds in 2018!

Just in time for the end of the year, I finally finished working on my frame arms girls / strike witches combination! This was a really fun build, it took almost a month of work too. Modifying the planes to make them into striker units was pretty interesting, its been forever since I worked on an airplane model, well I guess this was more hacking apart than building though.  The gun was also pretty fun to make, I took a beam rifle from a gundam weapons set and tried to make it look as WWII-y as I could, the side mounted magazine came out really nice in my opinion. What a great way to end the year! Happy new year to everyone, and here’s to more fun builds in 2018!

Here’s a look at what I’ve been working on for the past few days! Jinrai is a great kit. Even though its based on Gourai, Jinrai does a ton of things differently. The addition of a more expressive face is great too! The only complaint I have is that she can barely stand up on her own, so you cant get her into crazy action poses, but after all the modifications I’m working on that shouldn’t be an issue. Kotobukiya sure knows how to make a great mecha musume kit, I’m definitely going to get more down the line!

I recently just reached over 800 followers! This is insane, it feels like just a weeks ago I was celebrating hitting 400. Thanks a ton for following!
