Zelda Rupee Candy

Yields 12 candies

The things you’ll need

Ingredients

3 cups sugar

¾ cup water

1 cup light corn sugar

1 teaspoon green apple oil

1 drop green dye

1 teaspoon blueberry oil

1 drop blue dye

1 teaspoon strawberry oil

1 drop red dye

Equipment

Whisk

Rubber spatula

Small pot

Glass measuring cup with spout

Candy thermometer

Ro’s silicone gem molds

Baking sheet lined with parchment paper

Let’s get started!

In a small pot, mix 1 cup sugar, ¼ cup water and 1/3 cup corn syrup and green coloring.

Whisk together over medium heat until the sugar is dissolved.

Place a candy thermometer in the pan and continue cooking until the thermometer reaches 275°F.

Remove the pan from the heat and immediately mix in the green apple flavoring.

Quickly pour the mixture into a heat-proof measuring cup and then carefully pour it into the silicone gem mold.

Let set until the gems are firm and cool and then pop them out of the mold.

Repeat with remaining colors and flavors.

I think it’s the saddest thing about Elise : she lost herself for the sake of the world, for her people. Then she met Sonic, and he quickly became the most important thing to her. She befriended him, began to love him and thought how lucky she was to have a wonderful friend like him, a friend who made her truly happy for the first time in years. But he died. He died in front of her - because of her - and after ten years of faking herself, after ten years of intense grief, she finally broke down. Same when she realize that she had to blow the Flame of Solaris, which would mean that she and Sonic never met. She had to say “farewell” to another close person for the sake of the very world she’s sacrificing herself for ; and she realized that couldn’t do this anymore. Which explains the “I don’t care what happens to the world !” line, which is very understable. Can we blame her for wanting to be happy, like everybody else ? No. But she isn’t selfish. She knew what to do, even if that meant ignoring her feelings once again. Elise blew the flame because as a monarch, it was her duty to take care of her people. She just did what she has always done.
