Iran might indeed be whatever propaganda the government wants you to believe about it.
It doesn't represent all of the Islamic societies of course, nor does it have anything to do with all muslims around the world. Governments almost always abuse religion for their benefit. Which means Iran is the best example to depict, represent with information backing it up; so the Government of US can get what they want from it. And they wouldn't be wrong. There does indeed exist a government as evil as it's described by another government for their own benefits. It is exactly how IRGC does it too. It describes Israel and US as evil, and they both really are 'evil' in many, many, almost all cases. They have documents and proof of US and Israel being violent, inhuman and straight-up evil. And it makes sense if anyone 'falls' for it, because it's not a propaganda in whole, it has a wide amount of truth in it. But just as US residents don't believe what their government says about Iran, for they are experiencing hardships of their own government oppressing them, most Iranians also refuse to see Israel and US as the evil IRGC describes them, because they don't have any information about what's happening in US whatsoever(either don't know English or don't approach the spaces). Pains me to say, but as many Iranians that stand with Israel and US, any western activists that supposedly support those in need stand with IRGC. You both are completely ignoring what another person says because you're too scared of falling for propaganda of your governments. That's not how communication works.
Do you think Yang and Reinhard would get along? They clearly admire each other a lot; however, their personalities are very different. Reinhard is fiery and emotional, while Yang is more laid-back and easygoing. I can definitely see Reinhard liking Yang a lot and admiring his calmness, but I wonder if Yang could really deal with Reinhard’s tantrums and his habit of breaking glasses every day lmao

I agree with you in that Reinhard getting along with Yang is an easier sell than Yang getting along with Reinhard; Yang has a similar (enough) temperament to Kircheis and Hilda; Reinhard both likes and values surrounding himself with level-headed people because (I think) he recognizes that being level-headed is not something he is especially good at. I think this is a small part of why he wants to swing Yang over to his side, honestly.
but my take on Reinhard and Yang as a duo is that they are both obsessed with each other. Yang to a lesser degree and in a less obvious way, but he very much wants to sit back and watch Reinhard work. He's inordinately delighted by most things that Reinhard does, to a degree that the other FPA characters find a little inappropriate.
I think Yang and Reinhard getting along would be a little bit like - like when you let a thoroughbred horse off the rein to really run, and push themselves to the edge of what they're capable of. They're the ones who match each other in the sort of strategic thinking they enjoy most, and that would be give both of them hours of entertainment, with the added bonus of, if they're playing out hypotheticals it removes the horrific violence.
I do think if he had to spend any lengthy mount of time around Reinhard breaking glasses and having temper tantrums, he would be annoyed, but I'm not sure that would be a deal breaker for him? Yang baseline respects Reinhard and finds him an honorable and interesting person; I think this could endure Reinhard being a melodramatic brat because Reinhard will (usually) pull himself back around to being reasonable if someone he respects gives him pushback.

Yang is also fairly permissive of his friends having abrasive personalities. It's a little difficult to gauge partially because the way Reinhard acts is sooo - Imperial? Yang doesn't have a lot of interaction with characters who act like that in any capacity, the melodramatic members of the FPA have a different way of going about it.
In equal part, the FPA characters express respect and affection much differently than the Imperials! Mittermeyer and Reuental would never make fun of Reinhard the way Schenkopp and Cazellnu mock Yang. I think Yang would NOT at all be interested in doing the thing that Hilda and Kircheis do where they coddle Reinhard's sensibilities about his own temper. Yang is good at being diplomatic when he wants to be, but would have no interest in Managing Reinhard. I think Yang would openly grumble, poke fun, and passionately argue with Reinhard if they spent enough time together. But I also think Reinhard's huge amounts of respect for Yang make him someone that could throw cold water on Reinhard's tantrums.
When they meet in canon, they're having fun together. Their back-and-forth is quick and challenging to each other in new ways, and I think that could be the basis for a strong friendship or an interesting romantic relationship.
One of my favorite moments in their conversation is when Reinhard tries to goad Yang into selling him on democracy. It reads like he wants Yang to challenge him, and maybe even wants Yang to convince him; to play it out, hypothetically.
But I think where Yang is at in the OVA, he's too exhausted and too heartsick to play with Reinhard in this way. He is not going to try to change the Imperial system from the inside, and I think he's too fond of Reinhard and too upfront in his politics to be anything less than honest in their personal relationship (he will plot against him, but he won't swear loyalty to him and then plot against him).

I think when Bucock say tells Reinhard "Yang would be your friend but never your underling" (paraphrased) that is the key to this. Yang will not, perhaps under any circumstances, do the thing that Kircheis does where he swallows both his deep misgivings with Reinhard's choices and Reinhard telling him to shut up and mind his place and continues having faith in Reinhard. If Reinhard were to be close with Yang in any capacity, he would need to be able to take him as an equal, and I think that would be the central question of their relationship. Is Reinhard capable of that?
(maybe this is the direction they go with Reinhard marrying Hilda! I haven't watched season four yet)
In some ways, it's something that I wish the anime explored in companion to Reinhard's relationship with Kircheis. If, given another chance with another person, perhaps the person he most respects in the whole world, could he do redeem the fatal flaw of his most formative relationship? Could he take someone truly as an equal?
Anyway, that's a lot of rambling to say: I think it depends! I think the thing that most stands in the way of them getting along is Reinhard's carelessness with the lives of others; I think Yang could be amused and even endeared by Reinhard's foibles as long as they don't have a body count. If that makes any sense?

Some fandoms peak for a few months and then stay on life support for the remainder of their days, but all space military fiction fans are so devoted to their fandom for some reason and still regularly check back in with the fandom even decades after the series ever aired like...
