so after not enjoying how Monk/Paragon played, I decided to redo my Nightfall character.
her name is Tahani Tulwar and I think I like her about 10 times better than the previous attempt. Yes, she is a Monk as well. I haven't decided what secondary profession to take yet, but I have to level a bit first anyway.
she's just so friggin regal and gorgeous
GW1 was my first MMO. I played it for a bit but then got into WoW with friends. Then SWTOR, then GW2. It's been long enough and there've been enough changes that it's effectively a whole new game to me (also my memory isn't great)
so far I love rediscovering the world, seeing how places have changed (or stayed the same) in the second game, living through the events that became history. I love that the devs are keeping it alive. I love that more people are discovering it, or re-discovering it like I am.
this franchise means a lot to me in ways I can't easily articulate. I'm looking forward to see what new things there will be to discover in GW3.

amazingly enough I'm not playing a Monk in Factions.
this is Temple Skavin, another ancestor of a GW2 character, and like her descendant Fayne, is a Necromancer. Unlike Fayne, she is also a Ritualist (Fayne is a Harbinger).
this rounds out the trio of healers I've made to play with my besties
getting back into Guild Wars 1/Reforged and suddenly really enjoying Monk because I realized that rather than a martial artist monk like WoW and D&D, it's essentially all the things I love about Clerics in ttrpgs

had somebody whisper me to say that they never wore capes but I might have inspired them to give it a try and "happy Pride!"
obviously I cannot take credit for this idea; I saw a bunch of people wearing it at the Tyria Pride march and had to give it a go. It's become an iconic part of Halennia's look for me such that I can't imagine her without it.
am sure I've mentioned this before but Halennia is loosely based on the Germanic and/or Celtic 2nd-3rd century goddess Nehalennia, who was a protector of travelers and merchants in the North Sea, and may have also been a fertility deity (but who wasn't in those days).
Halennia is very maternal. She has a habit of adopting orphans (even adult ones) and likes to cook for and feed people (even strangers). She has a steading near Hoelbrak where the hearth fire is always burning (her surname is Hearthfire) and there's always at least a pot of dolyak stew simmering and some fresh bread. If she is not there, there's always a few of the aforementioned orphans around to serve some food and offer travelers a place by the fire.
Halennia does like to go roving at times. Her personal passion project is the original Norn language, samples and examples of which she collects and archives to help with its reconstruction. As a side project she has a personal vendetta against the Sons of Svanir, but most of my Norn ladies do, for what I think are probably obvious reasons.
she is also a sapphic leaning bisexual, something I don't know that I've ever explicitly stated but which is also an iconic part of her character. She was the first character I took on the Pride march.
so yeah that whisper from a random stranger really kind of made my week, you know?
(also if anyone has any ideas on how to make the colour gradation on her cape a little more defined I'd love to hear them. Currently using Crimson Lion, Searing, Cyanide, and Arcane as dyes.)

am I really gonna have to do one of those "this game saved my life" things?
I mean that's really overdramatic but this is not the first time I've crawled out from under some mind-rotting depression thanks to one of my GW2 characters
(and the big sad is still there, don't get me wrong, but I actually played and hung out with my friends for the first time in almost six months so that's gotta be something)

so even with meds and such it's been very difficult to get myself to Do Things, even things I enjoy doing, like writing and gaming and hanging out online with my friends.
I am struggling.
nothing seems to spark my interest any more, I'm just floating around and sometimes bumping into things, but I'm not holding onto them and they drift away.
I'm just really tired.
