"N, no, I’m.."
She kind of regrets speaking, since her sobbing really just made her crying that much more obvious (as if it wasn’t clear already).
It was pretty clear that this Smile didn’t have memories of her almost killing him as Rust because he was a weird alternate Smile or something, since even her .flow world Smile hated her because of that.
But still, this was a Smile who didn’t hate her, and even if he did Smile was still, to her anyway, her best friend, so..
Fuck it.
She hugs him, hiding her face in his chest.
At the sudden contact, Smile felt that he surely must've been dreaming.
Ah, she was warm. That small, insignificant fact, in itself, was big to him.
That's right; everything here was fake, but Sabitsuki, his Sabitsuki, was real. And she was okay. Miserable, it seemed, and worn to the bone, but okay. Alive. So long as that fact was absolute, he felt, then he didn't mind seeing this world out to its final, rotting days... together, alongside her... to the end, just like they'd sworn so long ago.
Sworn together, best friends...
... No. No. ... What a sick and impossible ideal that was.
"C'mon, Sabi... you were always such a crybaby." He spoke quietly -- voice, eyes, entirely devoid of happiness. "There, there. It'll be okay..."
As his other arm made way around the crying girl, holding her close, Smile berated himself with every movement of his bones, hated himself more and more with each passing second as his bandaged free hand slowly made its way to his pocket. His fingers wrapped around that old, bloodied hammer (and oh, it had been such a better friend to him than Sabi had ever been).
"That's right, Sabi," he spoke with a smile. "It'll be okay..."
ooc: it's 2AM and I still have a pile of hw (laughtrack.mp3) so yeah I'm probably gonna have to go soon. I'll be sure to write up a thingy for sometsuki sometime tomorrow hopefully and reply to whatever threads there may be--

This is embarrassing and stupid.
She tries to keep from crying, he doesn’t even know what happened so it doesn’t matter.
No matter how well they'd known each other in the past, Smile had a feeling he'd never have expected that kind of reaction from the girl he'd been so close to.
Yeah. A lot had happened since then, he could tell. There was a lot that he didn't know about and she'd been through so much. All that he had were the fragmented memories from this programmed world and there was no way that they could stand on equal footing after all that.
He didn't quite feel that reaching out and touching her, reminding her of just how fake he was, would be appropriate, though it took some willpower to keep himself from doing so.
"... It's that horrible seein' me, huh...?" A quiet, pointless, off-handed remark like that is all that he can manage right now.

She’s. Not saying anything, since if this is the Smile from her real life this’ll probably end really badly.
Though since there are apparently multiple Madotsukis and multiple Sabitsukis and all, there could be other Smiles who don’t hate her.
Yet, anyway.
"... Hey. Stop makin' such a serious face, Sabi. I'm just jokin'."
No way that he could ever forget her. Not now. Not ever. Their meeting, clashing, and eventual parting, impacted him like nothing else. And, as for this particular incarnation of Smile, he could almost say that she was like a God, or creator, of sorts, to him.
.... Not that he would ever treat her that way.
These meetings with her -- which side of Sabitsuki would he see this time? He never quite knew what to expect. He had a feeling that she didn't quite know, either.
"... Where've ya been?"

The spirit world was never this dark, and it was never this frightening.
Well, this variety of frightening. Fluorette pondered the idea for a bit, until someone called to her.
"Ah…?"
She’s not sure how to respond, at first. This boy, or man, she can’t quite tell, intimidated her. But he was right, she was lost, and he more than likely knew his way around this place.
"… Yes, I suppose I am. Who are you?"
"Well, ya came to the right guy!" Not. He hardly knew his way around places that weren't the school or its surrounding alleyways. And in the first place, this girl didn't even come to him, he just kind of... called her out. Eh.
"They call me Smile, and you sure look like yer from far away," he remarked, observing the pattern of her coat and the hairpins upon her head. Yeah... she definitely didn't look like she'd been killing any zombies lately (or turning into one, for that matter). "What's your name, missy?"

Yet again Chie had woken up and found herself in someone else’s dreamworld. Was this going to be a constant thing now? Not that she minded, exploring a new area was always wonderful.
And so she had begun strolling around, taking in the darkness around her that sent chills up her spine. It was all so foreboding, so lonely. Was this possibly…..?
At the greeting coming from behind her Chie spun around, equiping her axe effect quickly. She hated to have to use it, but in a new world there could be danger. “Oh, hello.” Her arm dropped to her side and her weapon disappeared. “I’m, um….” What was she doing? And who was this? Whoever they were, at least they looked kind of friendly. “I’m just sort of exploring.”
Holy heck. Was Smile just seeing things, or did that girl have some kind of weapon in her tiny little hands just a moment ago? He knew the flow had its surprises, from time to time, but he couldn't ever remember seeing someone like this before...
Maybe there was someone in the hospital who looked a bit like this girl, come to think of it? Eh. Smile didn't know; he hardly ever went there.
"Explorin', huh? How'd ya even get in 'ere, silly?"
Like, if she was someone's little kid sister or something who just up and got lost in this potentially dangerous area, well, he'd have to return her to her big bro at all costs! But maybe it wasn't like that.
"Are ya a friend of Sabitsuki's, or somethin'?"

….This place…it was fit to be the setting of some urban legend that’s only ending was a grisly demise. C-ta didn’t exactly believe in the urban legends A-ya would constantly talk about. They were…entertaining at most. He had to admit they had a certain appeal to them and he would get excited during the meetings at the old schoolhouse. Though…it was nothing but entertainment, right?
…Man…where was he?
At first, there didn’t seem to be anyone to ask about this strange place…which was unnerving. He wanted to go back home and make sure A-ya was all right. He was hopelessly lost.
But then, a voice called out to him. He turned to see a boy. His tousled dark hair made him…similar…to A-ya. Though…what stood out the most were those horrible, horrible scars on his eyes.
"E-eh?!" he gasped. "Are…are you all right?"
"'All right'? Am I 'all right'...?!"
What the heck was this guy going on about? Hadn't he seen ANY of the other people around here, around the flow? Smile was obviously all right. If this were a game, his health bar would be at 100%. He was absolutely chipper. Just perfect. There wasn't even blood dripping from his forehead or mouths growing where his eyes should be or anything!
"... I'm jus' fine n' dandy." Such a reply came out surprisingly quieter than it seemed like it would, once Smile realized that no one had actually ever asked him that question before. He was 'all right', wasn't he? Sure, some bruises and scratches here and there, some bandages...
But at least he didn't look as shocked and disheveled as this fine fellow here! "I sure am all right, sir! But you don't look all right. Ya look all wrong!"
"Lemme take a stab at your problem 'ere. Foreigner? Lost? Yeah, I can tell. It's th' hair."

No matter how he looked at it, the flow wasn't a place for little girls to just run around frolicking in. That was why, of course, Smile's little sister mostly stayed cooped up in their tiny apartment, and not outside, where the air was so unclean and the disease would spread and certainly he wouldn't allow her to hang out there with the people...
... People not unlike himself, probably. But, hey. Smile wasn't out to harm any young girls. That's why he delivered a bright grin and a wave to this little girl before him. What if she was lost?
"What'cha doin', girly?"

Short and braided, with a trademark pattern on her pink sweater. Where had Smile seen this girl before? No matter how much be thought it over, he couldn't quite place it. She definitely wasn't from around, but somehow, someplace, had they met before?
... Or was he imagining it?
Either way, he shrugged it off for the time being, and delivered a wave with his bandaged hand.
"Hey there!"

Smile wasn't particularly expecting anyone to come to this side of the school. Hardly anyone ever did... probably because he and Sabitsuki always hung around there, come to think of it. And where was that ill girl today? Not in their usual spot, that's for sure.
The boy's scar-covered eyes rose to see a rather tall girl approach; alright, not who he was particularly expecting, but he'd take it.
"... Who're you?"

Lately, it seemed like all sorts of foreign-looking people were entering the flow! It was easy to tell when someone wasn't from around. Smile had observed that all the foreign people met a certain list of requirements.
-- They didn't wear clothes covered with blood and dirt. -- They didn't have mouths growing on areas they shouldn't be. -- They all looked very, very lost, and very out of place.
... It just so happened that the girl before him met all the above requirements.
"Are ya lost, girly?"

Yawn. The boy sat at the bottom of the large stairway leading to his dismally small, one-room apartment. Although his intention when leaving the house was to go to school... he simply wasn't feeling it. No, no. What's the point of an education if everyone's goin' and turnin' 'emsleves into monsters anyways? Simple: there was no point. What a world he lived in.
Might as well go, though. The people, at least -- not the classes, for sure -- should provide for some entertainment. Maybe even Sabi would be there. But, Smile found that perhaps his entertainment for the day was much more close by...
"Hey there!" he called out to the unfamiliar boy.
