My completed final Charette project. Acrylic paints on treated wood and pieces of slate rock, with letters written in black sharpie. The words are to a five stanza poem of my own devising. They are as follows- Set in stone are you, it seems. But stone can still be shattered. Love of life is lost in a scream. Endless clock ticks faster. Emptiness stretching eternally. Nothing left that matters. All is gone, and soon you will see. Your soul grows ever blacker. This path- Immortality. Endless life? Disaster.
Pentagonal base, and the face painted onto the rocks.
The stones are glued down on paper currently, waiting to be painted. After that, they will be removed and transferred to the final piece in a more spread out pattern.
Material tests
Seth Blaine presentation of question concepts.
Alternate unstoppable vs. unmovable.
Other Lost, left, or hidden concepts.
Question- Unstoppable force or unmovable object.
Unstoppable force or Unmovable object?
Question- Blessing or Curse? 1) Digital 2) paints 3) the edge of a black hole is definitely there, but isn't by default crisp or distinct. The same could be said for paints. 4) the scale would likely be in 10x10 inches, for a moderately small sized piece with enough room to work. 5) painting in general 6) relates to my interest in science and new developments 7) not much. That an unstoppable force and an unmovable object are the same thing? 8) Digital fantasy/science fiction.
Question- Lost, left, or hidden.
Lost, left, or hidden?
Question- Blessing or Curse? 1) Digital 2) paints 3) a classic style to go with a classic story of enchanted weapons. 4) the scale would likely be in 10x10 inches, for a moderately small sized piece with enough room to work. 5) painting in general 6) it expresses my interest in the idea that not all legendary weapons in stories have had a glorious past- some may be far closer to "evil" than they are to "good". 7) not all that seems wonderful and glorious is. What things seem to be and what things are can be ass different as the core of a black hole and the void of empty space. 8) Digital fantasy/science fiction.
Concept work for curse/blessing.
Question- Blessing or Curse?
Question- Blessing or Curse? 1) Digital 2) paints 3) most original works featuring the grail would have been in paints. 4) the avail would likely be in 10x10 inches, for a moderately small sized piece with enough room to work. 5) painting in general 6) it expresses my thoughts on the concept of immortality 7) nothing good. After all, how good a view of the world can I have, if living in it for eternity is viewable as a curse? 8) Digital fantasy/science fiction.
Proccess and diagram, with bonus essay! The final sculpture would be a roughly 6 ft perforated plexiglass prism on a 2 ft polished concrete base, with a bell metal brass dragon hanging inside. The dragon is filled with bell strikers, which make it ring whenever it sways in the wind. The statue would be placed in a windy area for maximum effect.
Not the BEST pictures ever, but the best I have the resources to get currently.
Full version first, then scan. This final submission, by Dongjun Lu, is my personal favorite from the five i selected. This may or may not have everything to do with my weak spot for large fiery flying lizards. Regardless, the lever of photo realism in this matches or exceeds any other i have submitted. With the gloriously rendered characters present, both heroic knight and dark (and slightly feral looking) dragon, this was no doubt a momentous undertaking, one which ended with a spectacular image. This is the epitome of what i would like to be able to create, and something i will strive to achieve.
