- Social media goal to: raise awareness, organize, inspire action and help expand our movement’s reach

Methodology

- Viewed current social media efforts

- Analyzed opinions of social media efforts (outside resources)

- Collaborated as a group to compare strengths and weaknesses

- Effectively developed several solutions and ideas for improving social media presence

RESULTS

Point 1: Strengths of Preemptive Love Social Presence

- Generating a following consistently, by introducing people to social causes via petition or donation

- Strong use of influencers who fit their ideal supporter

- They write articles and put out information titled "Breaking News" which is timely and relevant.

- On Instagram they use Insta-stories to answer large scale questions with simple answers on top of quality photos. This appeals to an Instagram generation that may not read a lengthy article but will click through an Insta-story.

- They have a good balance of wordy tweets, photos, and videos to keep it interesting and interactive.

- videos on the IGTV portion of Instagram. I think that the videos allow them to capture people's attentions better by showing them what their funds are going to and who they are directly impacting by giving.

Point 2: Weaknesses of Preemptive Love Social Presence

- Sometimes their message can get drowned out in the world of popular culture/media, need to distinguish their ideal target and find this get into the hands of these people

- They don't use trending hashtags that may amplify their media presence on twitter, such as #timesup when writing an article on feminism in Iraq.

- They don't seem to draw from other sources and retweet/share articles and ideas from other more well-known sources which would perhaps lead people to their own sites.

- Only have 17K followers on twitter compared to 80K+ followers on both Instagram and Facebook

- Lack of targeting a specific audience

- Do not get postings retweeted, reposted or shared often

Point 3: Improvements & Increasing Viewership

- Could use relevant hashtags to draw more attention to the organization

- Focus on targeting younger generation of supporters

- Expand to Snapchat to give updates (Snap Stories) to increase younger viewership

- Utilize Instagram and Facebook advertising to increase reach to certain demographics / targeted areas

Conclusion

- Social Media for a good cause, going to change the future of social media

- Although room for improvement, they have been using social media effectively thus far

- Goal should be to target specific group of individuals to increase presence efficiently

- Use popular social media tactics to broaden viewership

Ensure you are using keywords related to your business all over your website to facilitate the on-site component of #SEO. The more keywords that could relate to your business the better for when individuals use a search engine to seek out your services or product – leading to you! 

The off-site component and backlink aspect of #SEO is more influential based on the legitimacy of the websites linked back to your site. This will increase the effect the backlink has on your search results, ranking you more favourable in the search results. 

Most of the highest rated pages have hundreds or thousands of backlinks. Your goal should be to create links to individual posts, blogs, social media leading to your homepage. You can also gain referral traffic this way. Get started by writing blogs or using broken link building! 

Keywords are useful for making sure your website is noticed by the search engine, but it is the power of backlinks that will move your website to the top! These are organic results because they are constantly changing based on website activity. 

#SEO takes time; therefore, it is essential to get started to get to the top of the search engine results. By utilizing SEO strategies for your business your online presence will soar, turning clicks into customers!

Music City Madness

Travelling has been a passion that I have been fortunate enough to explore at a young age. Recently, I have returned from my four-month exchange across Europe. Despite visiting some of the world’s most beautiful sights and wonders, nowhere feels more like home than Nashville, Tennessee. This bustling city nestled in the middle of Tennessee is growing rapidly and setting record tourist numbers every year. 14.5 million in 2017 to be exact! If country music and great food sound intriguing to you, it is time to head down to the Honky Tonk!

I first visited Nashville in 2016 and fell in love with the small town southern vibes combined with a big city atmosphere. Hailing from Toronto, great food and entertainment is important to me, in which Nashville is the perfect mix. Ever since my first trip to the Music City, I have returned 4 times a year! In the future, I hope to pursue business opportunities in this city. The constant growth and change in the city has evolved it into a hotspot for food and entertainment. Furthermore, the role of social media has put Nashville on the map as a tourist destination. Millennials are frequently using Instagram and Facebook to discover new and exciting places to visit with information at their fingertips. Companies in Nashville are using social media extensively to attract visitors to their establishments and it is working!

What to Explore in Music City

Food

As Nashville has grown, it has developed a reputation as a “foodie” city. There are several restaurants worth visiting ranging from luxury steakhouses to southern barbeque. In order to experience all that Nashville has to offer, no trip is complete without a visit to Hattie B’s serving Hot Chicken; a delicacy in this city. Alternatively, barbeque is a staple with most people frequenting Martin’s Bar-B-Que Joint for classic southern food with three sides.

Entertainment

If you are visiting Nashville, it is best to visit when there is a concert or sporting event. Native Nashvillians are loud and proud when supporting their sports teams. Attending a Nashville Predators hockey game or a Tennessee Titans football game will make your trip to Nashville a memorable one. I have had the privilege of attending sporting events for both teams and nothing compares to the energy fans in this city have!

No trip to Nashville is complete without country music. Tourists can visit one of the many venues to listen to live music from upcoming artists to some of the biggest country stars in the business. There is never a dull moment in Music City! Plan a trip around an event at the Grand Ole Opry or the Ryman Auditorium; the most iconic country venues in the world. Music’s biggest names have played on these stages from Dolly Parton to Luke Bryan, therefore the history and significance of watching a performance here is once in a lifetime.
