All perks will ship as they are completed, printed, or received from the respective manufacturers. Thanks to the early adopters, the bandwagon jumpers and the throngs of adoring fans who have supported my effort to create a contemporary update to the progressive tone of early comics featuring the SUPER heroic ACTIONs of an undocumented alien who battled Union busters, Robber Barons, and evil corporate slumlords. You are my peeps, each and everyone of you, and I love ya like family (because most of you are). Thank you, one and all! Days remaining… 7

The Origin of SACRED WEAPON Fixing Superhero comics Many years ago I started reading comics and arguing politics. I was six years old when I warned a few 8th grade boys about the folly of electing Richard M. Nixon. History proved me right nearly immediately... In my youth I devoured comics of all kinds from dog eared Golden Age comics to the Marvel and DC's Silver Age gems. When, in 1970, DC paired the space-cop Hal Jordan with their anti-establishment "Robin Hood" inspired Ollie Queen I was already hooked on sequential art storytelling. I remember reading the "purple skins" story and being floored by it! That comics would have a social conscience was only common sense. Everyone in the '60s and early '70s was becoming aware. It stood to reason comics and superheroes would also confront the issues of the day. What I didn't know then was that this wasn't new territory for the medium but rather a "coming home" of sorts. You see, from the first adventures of an alien "super" man through the WWII era and beyond superheroes were defenders of the common man, not the corporate bottom line. Kal L was a journalist, a noble profession, pre-FAUX News. He was a proud member of the Fourth Estate, not a mouthpiece for "The Man"! He exposed corruption, unsafe workplaces and slum conditions as Clark Kent and his powerful alter-ego. The silliness of the HUAC-era stories made it easy to dismiss the great histories of the pantheon of four-color demi-gods but everything old is new again... Eventually the socially aware stories of the Sixties and early Seventies would fall out of favor to be replaced by a yuppie-spawn infested cash grab that pushed revenge based "heroes" who had more in common with Dirty Harry and the Death Wish crowd than the Justice League or the Avengers. Grim and gritty? Maybe... for a brief moment. Bleak and dismal afterward. Without the awareness of previous creators the generation raised by Gordon "Greed is Good" Gekko imbued their heroes with reprehensible selfishness.
Unquestioning compliance to the whims of Wall St created an atmosphere of avarice leading to the glut of mindless movies and television shows so long as the bottom line was being bloated then quality could be a secondary concern. More polybags, more death and resurrection stories, please! Or maybe we can move our four-color fiction toward the issues of the real world again? Heroes that help the powerless could make sense as more power is consolidated at the financial apex of society. It might be worth the effort considering what the latest comic news sites are reporting this week. The biggest news in comics this month stems from a manufactured feud between some creators and cosplayers. I have no horse in that race but as a longtime comic fan, collector and convention attendee I can see merit in both sides of the issue. Cosplayers and their fans are part of the community, creators and vendors are, too. We need to talk to each other and maybe more important, listen to each other. We can work it out! Time has come for me to wrap this up, and as they say in politics, "Always ask for their vote!" So I'm asking you to be a part in my little experiment. Donate a buck or two on my Patreon page for the monthly adventures of American Crusader, The Dark Terror, Mistress Masque, The Liberator, Dare-Devil and the rest! I may fall on my face, that's possible! YouTube has millions of views on pratfall and face-plant videos so pop the popcorn and pull up a seat. But I might not, and for the hope of us all, the creators and the cosplayers, the collectors and the kids, I'm willing to take that leap. Join me in a "Coming Home" party for comics! Thanks, Gil

Sacred Weapon recounts the story of Jack Wright, grandson of the original American Crusader, as he is pressed into service to an illegitimate regime that ousted the duly elected administration. He must choose to bow to their demands or side with the rebels and fight the tyrannical leaders who do the bidding of a nefarious group of puppetmasters.
Will Jack risk his life and the lives of his friends and family or will he become an oppressor of freedom? Will he battle his friends in the streets or fight injustice as his parents and their parents before him did?

Why did I chose to create comics? After decades of collecting and reading comics I was inspired to try my hand at creating my own comics in 2006 when I read about a company that had sponsored a "challenge" contest to discover new comics talent. I put together a submission both art and story for the 2007 contest. I didn't win but I was inspired to pursue the idea of self-publishing.
Sometime in the fall of 2007 I read about public domain characters from comics companies that went out of business - you guys know the cast of characters - so suffice it to say that if it was good enough for Alan Moore, Erik Larsen, and Alex Ross it was good enough for me.
I examined what exactly appealed to me about utilizing these public domain characters. I felt the Golden age of comics benefited significantly from the political leanings of some of those early creators who came from working-class backgrounds and were incorporating their blue collar ideals into their creations. A certain Kansas farm boy was quite the idealistic progressive when his young creators first introduced his never-ending battle for truth and justice to the reading public!
Although I had enjoyed the World War II comic stories from Roy Thomas in the form of DC's Justice Society of America and Freedom Fighters and Marvel's The Invaders, I felt that updating the characters for a contemporary audience made more sense for me.
Two controversial wars and the political upheaval that surrounded them inspired me to set SACRED WEAPON in the not-too-distant future shortly after the overthrow of the US government and the replacement of elected leadership by a hand-picked puppet regime. The grandchildren of the WW II era heroes and heroines are pressed into service by the new administration to quell protests and potential uprisings. The shadowy figures behind the new regime want the public occupied while they pursue an agenda that will literally change the face of the planet.
What is "the Rift"?
Who is The Dark Terror?

The Origin of Sacred Weapon because you demanded it!
... A bit of backstory on the main characters of Sacred Weapon ... At the height of WWII a group of masked adventurers and their sidekicks approached the Allied Command and offered their services against the Axis Forces. Some fought on the front lines, some stayed on the homefront and some served to rally the public and the troops to the cause. When the war ended most of the heroes and heroines retired to their civilian identities but a select few continued in the service of the government. While the majority of them went their separate ways, some connected and formed lifelong bonds, friendships and families. Generations of heroes and heroines, therefore, remained active in public as well as on covert missions for the good of the country. Or so they thought. Maureen Masters, daughter of the original American Crusader (Archie Masters) and Lady Liberty (identity redacted), took up where her parents left off when she donned the red, white and blue costume in the early 1980s as the second American Crusader. She met Rick Wright, son of Captain Freedom and they married in the late '80s after which she hung up her mask and cape while Rick continued as the new Captain Freedom. Maureen's pregnancy was confirmed in 1989 and Rick set out for Iraq in preparation for Operation: Desert Storm. Captain Freedom returned for the birth of his son, Jack. Rick promptly resigned his commission after Gulf War I and resumed his civilian identity as Rick Wright, husband, father, and newspaper photographer. Young Jack grew up in the same neighborhood as his grandfather: the Kurtzberg section of New Empire City. Jack was only 11 when Rick disappeared. More to come... More art later this week, thanks for all the great feedback! http://www.gofundme.com/ChaosGenerationComicsFund
When Jack Wright graduated he joined the family business. Unfortunately, business was booming.
