Taney didn't say anything to counter what Axel had said about the bike not working with a suit. She was of quite the opposite opinion, enjoying a dirty thought of the contrast of the prim, perfect suit straddled around a jet black Harley. That was peak masculinity, God tier sexual attraction. The immediate urge to prevent herself from witnessing this in real life rather than naughty little fantasies had her brushing it off quietly but still aloud, "You're right, no one needs to see that."
Axel's wandering hands had her grinning, her body automatically leaning into him when she'd already wound herself up— though that was never a difficult task. With her usual, almost maniacle laugh she looked over his shoulder at the elevator, "Goodbye fancy elevator, I'd say we'll have our fun next time but I'm never leaving." Taney was mostly joking but the space was stunning and she look around like a kid in a candy store, clearly thinking about every surface getting 'christened'. Before Axel could step back, she made sure her legs remained wrapped around his waist. "The dimples? Here I thought it was all those human sacrifices that gave me all my appeal. Tell me, what do they do to you?" Her smile grew and she ran her fingers down her arm and found his hands again, lacing her fingers through his once more.
Taney's dark hair and pale skin seemed to contrast even more in the dim light of his home. He smiled as she declared she was never leaving. As far as he was concerned, she was welcome to stay as long as she wanted. It was so nice to just have someone familiar around. "Oh yeah? This is your house now?" He teased as his thumb brushed right over her knee.
Feeling her legs wrap around him only caused more heat to rise to his face. She was really here. The Taney he had known (and frankly, wanted) for ages. As her hand grabbed his he looked down at their fingers. "As if you don't already know." His green eyes searched hers and his smile faded a little to a more serious tone. "I missed you." It was true and he hadn't even realized it until she was sitting right here in front of him. He reached up, pushing her hair back and resting his hand on the side of her neck. Part of him wondered if this closeness was some trick. If it was, she'd get away with it. He was now invested, wanting her badly.

Taney was still laughing at the thought of someone thinking she'd bought Axel for the night. "I think you'd be surprised at just how marketable a pretty face and bow legs are." She gave him a wink before bursting into another fit of laughter that settled as they walked into his garage. "Still no bike?" For a fleeting moment she thought about Luke's in her garage at Asmodeus. She took care of it, but it still didn't seem right to be sitting there not being taken out.
"I won't judge you for a plain penthouse, but you can't blame me for wanting to suggest how to have a pop of color." A wicked grin dimpled her cheeks as she laughed again, clearly implying something sexual. Taney hadn't changed much beyond the touching without flinching, taking his hands and letting him lead her into the elevator. "We could very easily cover each other in paint and then spatter up the walls." The connection crackled between them and Taney looked up at him with a smile. Axel could take that in a suggestive way or in a paint fight and she was inclined to enjoy either. "You have a special Axel elevator? Do you have lift sex in the special elevator?" Her laughter filled the small space as Taney laced her fingers through his and looked at the polished space. "Definitely a workable space, Mr. Escort."
"I didn't think a bike would go with my suit." He replied with a smirk. Axel was okay with other people on motorcycles, he just never pictured himself on one. When she started suggesting how to add some color, his left eyebrow shot up. "Yeah? I'd be all for it if only I hadn't left my massive box of acrylic paints in LA." He joked. Axel was so far from artistic. "Maybe we can mime it though." His hands slowly wandered down the curve of her back and to her sides, cradling her hips.
"I do have a special Axel elevator. Can't say I've broken it in though." He gestured to the very corner of the ceiling. "Although it would give me something to watch back later." He teased, feeling warmth run up his arms through his fingers. Looking down at her hands he smiled softly. As the doors opened, he simply put his hand sunder her ass, lifting her up to carry her into the grand penthouse. One entire wall was pure glass, showing a stunning view of the city. He walked in, setting her up on the counter of his kitchen. "Those dimples." He shook his head. "They've always done things to me."
"Of course you knew I was a witch. It's not like I was trying to hide it." Taney cackled, nudging him with her elbow and fully expecting dramatics about how bony she was. Moments later they were walking toward the subway and she looped one arm through his and held his fingers with the other. Her green eyes kept looking for him and, selfishly, she was still holding on like he'd vanish the moment she let go. Two hands, for now, felt safest. "A month in SoHo and you use the subway?" Taney looked up at him, torn between teasingly asking who this man was that had found patience and public transportation, and actually wondering how different he was now. "Can we never go this long not talking again?"
Climbing into the spot next to him, Taney kicked her legs over his lap, pinning him down so he couldn't run off the first exit. "We're definitely going to get odd looks from whatever random gets on at this hour." She was right and it took everything in her system not to laugh hysterically. That ended the second they stepped off at Canal Street. "Do you think they're thinking I'm you're hooker or you're my sugar daddy?" Her laugh echoed through the tunnel as she looked up at him a blushing with breathlessness. "God, I missed you."
Axel laughed when she teased him about using the subway. "I didn't want to deal with rush hour traffic this morning and I planned on drinking tonight. So.. subway it is." He said, pausing when she spoke. He didn't even know how to respond as it took him by surprise. "Yeah. I promise not to disappear on you." His eyes crinkled in the corner with a genuine fondness shining through his small smile.
Sitting down, he watched as she threw her legs over his lap. His hands naturally fell on her knee and upper thigh, his fingers wrapping towards the inside of her leg. "Who gives a fuck?" He said, truly not caring what any stranger on the subway would possibly think of him. "I bet they think I'm the hooker. I mean... look at me." His eyes grazed over her face, simply taking her in. "I missed you too." Once they got to his stop, he walked her off the subway and up the stairs to the street. Walking a few blocks, he nudged her. "Im over here." He took her behind a building to his own private garage entrance. Punching in a code, the door opened for them, showing three of his cars and a locked door. Using his key to get in, it simply led them to a tiny lobby that had a private elevator to his penthouse. Pressing the button, the elevator was already on their floor. "It still feels a little empty so.. excuse the plainness.." He pulled her into the elevator with both hands.
Taney was surprised but glad that Axel wasn't pushing her to let go of his hand and she took the other as they spoke. She played with his palm, tracing the lines with her small fingers as she listened to him speak. "I think normal people would have probably left Asmodeus behind after loosing Luke but I..." With a shrug she let it hang in the air.
Glad that he'd changed the subject she looked up with a raised eyebrow and a mischievous grin. "Oh, it's definitely a little sus, is it?" Taney turned so he saw her profile, dimple on display as she let go of the hand that hadn't been rubbing her knuckles to playfully swipe down the slope of her nose. "I think I'm just as perfect as I ever was. If being an asshole and drinking my coffee black like my soul keeps me young, guilty as charged. I swear I'm no more nefarious than I've ever been before." That was the thing though, she'd been plenty bad before, Axel and even Lucas just never knew exactly what trouble she got into.
"Is that why you came to find me? You missed me bothering you?" Taney leaned into Axel, letting her fingers walk up his chest as she stood on the tips of her heeled toes as if it could get her anywhere closer to him. She took at deep breath, drinking in the familiar scent of him and finding a comfort she'd been lacking in years. Before they could get any closer she giggled and tugged him along with her, back to the door that went into the bar of Asmodeus and she hollered toward the bartender. "I found better company, Bitches. See ya! Wouldn't wanna be ya!" Then she was pushing him back into the atrium and toward another door, this one the garage. "I can't believe you're living anywhere near here, so where's home?" For all she knew, he had a plane in some private lot waiting to fly back across the country.
Axel was always welcome to affectionate touches, so feeling the closeness from Taney sent a thrill through him. "I fucking knew you were a witch." He teased as he reached up and gently brushed one of her dimples with his thumb. Laughing when she asked if she had missed her bothering him he nodded. "Sure. We can go with that." He said with a small playful bite of sarcasm. He felt small sparks of electricty as she walked her fingers over him. Axel, though he would never admit it was starved for affection, for warmth. He would selfishly take anything she would give him. "I was curious. I wanted to see if any of the old staff was still there... I stopped in and had good luck apparently." Feeling the gentle pull at his arm, he followed her like it was the most natural thing in the world. Walking next to her he nodded. "Yeah I just moved back to SoHo about a month ago. We just need to catch a subway to Canal street."
Leading her towards the subway, he kept her close, feeling as if he were to turn around, she would disappear. The subway was surprisingly quiet for this time of night. It felt like only a few short seconds had passed before they were at their destination. Leading her out of the subway and to the street, he made the familiar walk towards the high-rise he was living in.
A sly smirk spread across her lips when she pulled a reaction out of biting him. Still, she selfishly didn't let go of his hand, like Axel would disappear again if she did. "I've been to every state, a few other countries, but..." Taney gave him a small shrug. "I can't think of where I'd go next... Not alone at least." She'd given him more truth than anyone else had gotten out of her since Luke passed. Whitney, Lilith, and Knox all lived in New York now, too, but they had their own lives and she, for the most part, was an outlier in whatever plans they made. Her purpose had always been very narrow and typically leaning toward the simple task of surviving. Lucas had helped her get the help she needed to be a whole person and when he passed she almost fell apart again, but then she didn't an she bounced back, and now she simply felt stuck. "I haven't changed too much, still tattooing, painting and sketching, fucking around, a bit of finding out. How about you? I'm assuming you've gone off the deep end if you came looking for the person you hate most in the world." There it was though, that smile and light in her eyes, no bite to her words, she'd never really had a problem with Axel. If anything she had a crush and acted like a kid on a playground, relentlessly teasing him for a second of his attention.
There it was. That smirk he had come to know so well over the years. The constant underlying feeling of mischief just below the surface of that grin. His thumb idly brushed over her knuckles, not even a faint recognition that he was doing so. "Ah.. that's fair." He knew what she meant. The place never mattered as much as the people. "You haven't aged a day which seems.... well.. highly suspicious." He teased, hinting at her doing some sort of deal with the devil. "Oh you know... still working.. that's pretty much it at this point." Axel had no special person to speak of at the moment. He never seemed to last long in a relationship. "Hate is a strong word. You piss me off to no end, but hate isn't exactly it." He smiled and looked around. "When are you done with work? We could go to my house... have a night cap... catch up a little..." He offered, selfishly wanting her company all to himself.
Axel pulling her into a hug was a massive surprise, but she didn't hesitate to wrap her arms around him to, rubbing his back as she held tightly to him. He smelt amazing, familiar, and Taney realized she couldn't remember the last time someone hugged her after Luke's funeral. "Where would I go? Lilith's around, Whitney's and Knox have both moved here, too. I'm not going out of my way to rebuild the whole happy family shit, but it's not like I have people elsewhere that..." She swallowed and pulled away patting her small hands on his but just to distract him from dropping off her sentence. No one wanted her around, not in a way that mattered— even her siblings. "Did you walk your bow-legged firmed up ass here?"
She looked up at him with a laugh and a smile, then held out her hand, "C'mon, let's sit in the atrium, it's not as loud." Taney didn't leave room for him to say yes or no, lacing her fingers in his and tugging him toward a door where she punched in a code. The sound of the bar muffled by the thick windows and heavy doors. Even the sounds of the city hardly funneled in. Taney turned around, leaning against the tree and then bringing his hand to her mouth biting into the space between his thumb and index finger. "Just making sure you're not actually a robot."

Feeling her hand rub his back, he was surprised. Maybe he was just feeling lonely, but he hadn't remembered her being this affectionate. When she asked where she would go he laughed and shrugged. "Well you've always been a scrappy little thing. I just figured you just appear places and do fine wherever you land." Laughing lightly at her remark about his legs he nodded. "I did actually. Just left a bar like a block away.. was walking home and thought I would stop in. I just moved back a few weeks ago."
Axel followed right after Taney without a second thought. He was just excited to see an old friend. Even if she drove him crazy at times. His thumb brushed over her knuckle gently as they walked. His green eyes flinted with a bit of excitement as she brought his hand to her lips. "Ah.. jesus." He said as she bit him before laughing. "Wow, you really are Taney huh." He joked. "How are you doing since I last saw you?" He was terrible with friends and dealing with grief. Axel could never figure out if people wanted to talk about it or not. So he would let her bring it up if she wanted to. Looking at her, the way the light hit so nicely, he hadn't realized that her eyes were green and not blue.
Taney had been going through the motions: Wake up. Coffee. Tattoo. Eat. Nap. Run the bar. Snack. Shower. Nap. Repeat. Actual sleep had never come easy for her until she'd been with her late husband, Lucas, and since he passed Taney had isolated herself beyond her professions. In those sleepless nights, Taney packed up her apartment or went to the gym, determined to figure out a next step and never thinking of something new. Still, she knew living in the adjoining apartment to Asmodeus, an entire complex designed by Luke for their life together, wasn't healthy. That awareness was a big step for her, but it didn't change that she was heartsick, lonely, and feeding her 'bad habits'. In fact, her employees had a joking whistle they made when someone walked into the bar that they wanted to make a bet over Taney flirting with them- or dragging them to the apartment she'd turned into her play room, taking strangers there for sex instead of into the larger apartment she'd shared with Luke, filled with boxes and memories.
She'd been carrying drinks across the steampunk themed bar so Lilith could take a break when she heard the whistle. "You little fuckers gotta cut that shit out." Even as she said it she was laughing, her green gaze moving to the door. Her eyes raked up the long legs, thick thighs, tapered waist and muscles. The details of the man were attractive and her tongue dipped out across her ruby lips until she blinked again and saw the familiar face. Setting the tray on the bar top she closed the distance to him quickly, but stopped short. Her heart raced and her face was flushed, but no matter what the 5'2 terror couldn't make herself stop smiling. "Is this a visit to tell me you got plastic surgery? You look too fucking good for this to be real." Taney playfully poked him in a peck, partly to make sure he was real and half wanting to touch him.

In a short matter of months, it felt as though everyone Axel knew had scattered to the wind. Having broken up with whichever girl he was dating at the time, Axel decided to make his way back to New York. It suited him so much better anyway. He could focus more on his work and rekindle his working relationships with old buddies. At this point in life, Axel didn't need to make another dime. He was beyond wealthy at this point. However, he really didn't know what else to do with his time.
Going to Asmodeus felt like a little nostalgia that he was craving lately. Of course, he had heard of Luke's passing, but hadn't exactly expected to hear from Taney again. Walking in, he made his way to the bar. Hearing a cacophany of whistles, he turned hearing someone respond to them. Seeing the familiar face, his green eyes widened. Not only that... she was smiling.. and giving him a compliment? "Taney." He said before leaning down to wrap his arms around her in a warm hug. "I didn't think you were still here!" It finally clicked what she had said. "Wait... plastic surgery? You serious?"
