Be honest, what’s it like having Bill as a roommate? Do you guys get along well, do you consider him your friend? What’s your relationship like, I’m curious.

I'm his confidant, his best friend. His Silly Dentures. His Toothy~ We get along like a house on fire! LOTS OF FIRE! AND GASOLINE! He, in a lot of ways, is like me. An artist. When he enters the room, he GLOWS! LITERALLY! How does he do it? Ah, I wish I have that level of confidence. He's such an interesting fellow. aND JuSt LOoK aT tHOsE AnGLEs!!! And what's even MORE amazing is that he knows so many things about the Macroverse! Bill corrected me that it's called EARTH, but that is just silly! MACROVERSE sounds WAY COOLER! Anyways, there's just SO MANY THINGS I just wanna gush about my best friend, but to keep it short: HE'S A COOL TRIANGLE!

So sad that he got his toy gun taken away. I wish I met him during the Gun Adventure, we could have been a pretty cool team!

There are lots of reasons why fandom is "quieter" now than it used to be. Some theories are more compelling to me than others, and they all have a different scale of impact. We'll never know for sure, of course, but I like to think about it. Thus, this poll.

Of the list below, which reason do you find most compelling or do you think had the biggest impact?

New entrants to fandom don't know the old ways

fandom olds didn't teach the newcomers how to fandom

covid/surge in fandom due to quarantine and lockdowns

"antis" and other harassment campaigns against creators

creators posting complaints about comments (people worry about commenting wrong)

rise of discord popularity - fandom is walled off from each other

tumblr porn ban and other reasons people left the site

capitalism turning fandom into a passive "view and move on" commodity

rules from social media impacting fan culture (eg. don't comment on old posts)

social anxieties in an increasingly complex online culture

"surveillance state" worries and not wanting to be perceived

not to be a joyless hag but I've started seeing genderbent "yuri" shipping Markiplier and Ryan Gosling and I can't help but think of someone I recently I unfollowed for posting that they have an easier time caring about genderbent versions of boy characters than regular fictional women

and I'm also building some connections to that post I made about reading books by Black women (you know the one) and the people who would respond by saying something akin to "joke's on you, I only read fanfic 😜" as if that were some kind of clever loophole and not a demonstration of the exact thing I was talking about

like yes fandom is about fun or whatever but idk man at what point has your desire for no thoughts head empty uncritical consumption left you splashing around in something that's been blended down to an indistinguishable goo for the sake of avoiding anything remotely challenging. with the thing that's "challenging" here being. you know. giving a shit about women and Black people and like frankly anyone but your shippable white men (and honorary Markiplier).
