I was looking at the Blurryface cover art, and I realized something. I’m probably not the first person to pick up on this, but just bear with me.
If you look at the album booklet, it looks like there’s half of someone’s face at the bottom. Now look at the plastic sheet that came with the album; there’s a red circle on the bottom. Directly underneath the circle are two blank spaces with a line down the middle. Take the plastic sheet and put it back over the album booklet in the same position it came in. Now compare the image you see there to the photo of Tyler and Josh on the back of the booklet.
You should be seeing an almost exact replica of Tyler, beanie and all.
I’m not sure how much Tyler and/or Josh had to do with the album art (I read the blog post about the creative process) but I’m seriously in awe.
I’m gonna take it a step further. (It’s late and I’m tired so I apologize if this makes zero sense.) Remember the lyric in “Lovely” - “I hear a second voice behind your tongue somehow.” Blurryface could be the second voice Tyler is referring to. Tyler is the one saying these words out loud, but Blurryface continues to influence him in the back of his mind.
Last thing I want to point out - Blurryface is meant to represent the things that Tyler is insecure about, right? On the album art with the sheet over it, Tyler’s head is also Blurryface’s mouth. So no matter how hard Tyler tries to get rid of his demons, his mind will always be connected to Blurryface.
