a/n : HELLO MY LOVELIES! this is based on a req here !! thank you so much for requesting me, hope you guys have an amazing day ! i literally keep staying up and sleeping at six am its so bad. i’m on my period and bro my acne’s pissing me off its doing some mad ting. i keep getting bulging spots Its okay death would be better. SORRY IF THIS IS SHORT !!
raindrops landed against your window as you laid in bed, your eyes drooping shut after the events of the day slowly wore you down. your thoughts lingered on him, on rin.
why on earth did he get so.. annoyed? no, that wasn’t it.. protective? jealous, even, over that guy who you were partnered with for a project. it didn’t make sense, and of course, lead to a full blown argument between you both about how he was causing problems for no reason. in his defence, he argued that the guy had bad intentions, that he only wanted to have “fun” with you, or so he said. it didn’t make much sense to you. firstly, because you barely knew the boy you were partnered with, and he barely knew you. you didn’t think much of him, rin had to of known that..
and yet, the argument still arose. the rain pattering up against the glass was a reminder of it. an unwelcome reminder. the thought of you two not talking with one another made you feel sick in your stomach. you bite your tongue and sit up, pressing your face in your hands. it was such a menial thing to fight about and but affected you so much, more than you had previously realised.
with a sigh, you stood up and sat at your desk instead to get a head start on the work, trying to ignore the pit of sadness sitting heavy in your stomach.
you check your phone each time a notification lights up the screen, but it’s never him. it was typical, though. he didn’t even exactly apologise first, he didn’t know how to. he prided himself on ego and arrogance, and yet, you were the balm to his wound. he knew that well. it lights up again, this time with a message. you so dearly hope it’s him, but alas, it wasn’t.
it was the boy you both argued about. you gave him your number begrudgingly after he kept asking for it.
— yo this [y/n]?
“for fucks sake..” you mumble, picking up your phone to reply.
— yeah lol it is
— did u need smth?
he replies almost immediately.
— yh do u wanna go out w me on saturday
your brows pinch together in disbelief. you barely knew the guy, and he was asking you out? maybe.. he was right.
— nah im good im busy then
the typing bubble seizes for a moment, making your heart thump a little louder.
— what r you dating rin? he dont know shit about females i can treat you better
you grit your teeth.
— don’t text me again. i’m asking the teacher to switch partners u fucking weirdo
immediately, you block the number before he can get another message in, or worse, cuss you out and email your teacher to ask to switch partners to anyone but him. leaning back in your chair, you think about rin. he was right. he probably was gonna use you to get a good grade, as well as get with you for something depraved. your eyes close again when you hear the door knock, making you sit up.
shit, was it that guy? how’d he know where you live? did he really come here in the rain? you grabbed the nearest hard thing near you, which was a hardback book before venturing out into the hallway. your feet carry you to the front door before you even realise, heightening your nerves. it was practically the middle of the night, everyone was sleeping in your household.
your hand lightly touches the doorknob. three, two, one— you open the door, raising the book in your hands to strike when you saw who it was.
rin. standing there with his wet, slicked back hair as a byproduct of the rain. his clothes were soaked too, presumably his pyjama’s. he breathes heavily and frantically, looking at you with wide, glistening eyes. you couldn’t tell if it was from the rain, or if he was..
you didn’t wanna think about it. instead, you immediately drop the book and hug him, despite his state.
“fuck.. you scared me rin! what’re you—“
“i love you. i mean— fuck, i like you.” his voice carries desperation. a tone you’ve never heard from him. “please don’t go out with that half baked moron, he doesn’t know you..”
“i.. you came here to..” you run your hand over your head, at a loss for words. “you like me..?”
rin nods rapidly, holding onto you like a lifeline. “i got jealous of him because i thought you were into him..” his turquoise eyes pierce into your own, pleading for you to understand. “i.. i thought you didn’t wanna associate with me anymore. i got scared.”
your heart practically broke at that. you pulled him inside wordlessly and shut the door, before dragging him to your room. he sits on your bed, glancing around like a curious kitten as you wipe him off with a towel.
“.. stupid. you’re gonna get sick.” even though you were reprimanding him, your voice was immeasurably soft. you sat beside him in silence, before speaking. “me too. i feel the same way.”
rin’s eyes widened. he cups your cheeks, thumbs brushing over your cheekbone. “you mean you..?”
“mhm.”
…
“i love you, dummy.” you whisper, pressing a kiss against his cheek, his nose, then his jaw.
both your eyes met, a wordless understanding that you both wanted this.
you lean in, and press your lips against his, the taste of rainwater still residing on his lips. his arms wrap around your waist as he practically pushes you onto the bed. when you part, he nuzzles his face into your neck.
“don’t leave me. i can’t stand to see you with another man.”
“.. never. i’ll never go.”
the rain still hits your window, but now, it blocks any discouraging thoughts, rather, rooting for the both of you.
