Sweet Green Cleanser: Green Apple, Cucumber & Basil.
I find that my body thrives when I give it a break from feasting to recover and process everything I’ve thrown it’s way. In this case (the day after Thanksgiving), turkey, butter, sugar, cheese, flour, and a bunch of other not so easy to process foods. I like hitting the reset button just as much as I like gorging on pumpkin pie. Here’s a mellow green cleanser both sweet and tart from granny smith apples, soothing and hydrating from cucumber, cleansing from lemon, and invigorating and digestively soothing with basil. Recipe and more about my love affair with green juice here.
There’s a First Time for Everything… Right?
Yay, Thanksgiving!
This morning I woke up and remembered a quote I heard years ago that accurately describes my life right now:
“You’re never too old, never too bad, never too late and never too sick to start from the scratch once again.”
― Bikram Choudhury
Thanksgiving is the perfect time for my first blog entry. I am fortunate that I am always able to find things in my life for which I can be immensely thankful, but this year brings a whole new wave of awesome into my world. My Facebook status from yesterday sums it up pretty well, and the support from my Facebook crew gave me a huge boost of confidence on a day that could easily have been extremely stressful for me.
When I began my Health Coach Training Program in March 2013 through theInstitute of Integrative Nutrition (IIN), I knew the day would come that I would need to definitively choose between two paths:
The first path is one on which I would continue to search for my place in the tech field and software industry. A path I have been cruising down for years and still have never felt right about.
The second path is one that requires taking a leap and pouring my heart into building a Health Coaching practice while immersing myself in the holistic healing community.
With graduation from IIN only a few months away and my corporate career becoming increasingly more intolerable, the time to choose a path and stick to it was finally upon me and the choice seemed like a no-brainer to me.
So this Thanksgiving, I am thankful for finally finding the courage to choose the path that resonates with my heart and go for something big and meaningful. Equally dear to me is the gratitude I feel for having so many supportive friends, family members, and colleagues around me.
I have an interesting journey ahead of me, to say the least. Part of me is completely prepared and sure of myself. The other part of me is completely terrified. But hey, is there any other way to be when you are starting something new??
As a celebration of my transition out of my corporate job and into the world of Holistic Health Coaching, I am working on creating a “Happy Ho for the Holidays” group.
Since this will be the first holiday season where I will NOT be spending my vacation days eating and drinking myself into repressed oblivion while dreading having to go back to the office (don’t act like you haven’t been there too), I want to create a fun online community to help keep things lighthearted and stress-free during those last 12 days before Christmas. I’m determined to be a happy ho instead of a scroogy bitch this year and want to help others do the same thing.
I’m pulling together details for this program and will announce them soon. It will begin on December 12th.
