Her correction that she indeed was Zelda was something that gave him pause. He could’ve possibly understood if she was a girl named after the princess, but she said she was the princess. Was she a fake, just pretending to be her- or, perhaps there was something more going on. After all, he’d already run into someone who looked impossibly close to himself… so was it possible that Zelda would have a double, too?

‘I’m Link. But, you don’t look like the Zelda I know. She looks a little different.’ Similar, yet different. And regardless of that.. he was certain that the Zelda he knew would recognize him, even if he had misremembered her. 

     Gently does she smile at the youth, never once did her mirthful appearance falter as she stares on at the other. While it’s always troubling to see any incarnation of the hero within this place, it never fails to warm her heart. As different as they all may be, they still have that sense of familiarity about them that makes all of the heroes easy for the princess to converse with... And in a way, it reminds her fondly of her beloved Hyrule.

     ❝ Does she? Well, I imagine she would, yes, ❞ she begins to respond in return, azure hues looking upward for a moment.

     ❝ And Link... Of course; I am not sure why I even asked... Regardless, it is a pleasure, Link. Have you been here long? ❞

The things that happened during the festival days were more relaxing to Link than the things that happened at night- not just because things weren’t busy in the same way, but also from the lack of moon hanging in the sky. It felt simple, but it was still something of a helpful reminder.

He’d been watching some people play at a ball throw game, curious about it himself- when someone caught his eye.

‘Princess Zelda?’ He paused right after he signed, realizing that he must’ve made a mistake. She certainly looked similar- but she wasn’t the princess. ‘Nevermind, sorry. You just look a lot like someone I know.’

     While she is by no means an expert in the language, the princess knew enough of sign language to get by... But what truly catches her off guard about the encounter, rather, is how the boy before her uses none other than the Hylian variant of it. Not only that, but the tunic he wears and the weapons he carries...

     Keeping her realizations to herself, the blonde simply offers the boy a kind smile before leaning over slightly to be on a better eye level with him. As she does so, the princess begins to softly sign back to the other, saying:

     ❝ No, you are correct; I am princess Zelda. Who might you be? ❞

His heart would immediately come to a halt ‘pon sighting the golden-haired girl who would not leave his thoughts. Sounds of the city blends into the background until it felt as though he were underwater, where the noises had become mute and distant. 

Time would melt gradually here, it was non-stop and merciless––a day has passed since his arrival in Spirale and the young hero has yet to grow accustomed to this newfangled world. They (the ones in charge of this environment) had been gracious enough to house him in a ward that was more suited for someone like him, for there were hints of recognization to be found concerning his homeworld. Despite this, it did not bring him much comfort and he would still pray and pray and pray to return back to The Surface to see his family and friends, to see her once more. 

And though he missed her and long to see her once more, Link would beg to the gods to not bring her here to Spirale. She deserved to stay home, where it’s now safe to roam around the lands weaved by the gods. Not here. Never here. 

“Zel–––” he stops himself once he would realize key differences between this girl and his friend. They nearly shared the same facial features, yes, but it was easy to differentiate certain key elements between the two. Clothes aside, it had been the shape of her eyes, the very color of them, other features as well that were the same to him yet different as well. It was familiar yet not. But he was able to tell nonetheless that this girl was not the one he had thought it was. That said, this revelation brought him little solace, a girl like her should not be wandering around Spirale. He made a minor note to at least keep watch over her in spite of lacking proper weapons, something had told him to protect her. “No, you’re not. My mistake your grace, it’s just you look like someone I know.”

     ❝ ... Zelda. That is what you were going to say, correct? ❞

     Though the boy before her stops himself from finishing his sentence, the princess swiftly does so for him after a brief pause. She can tell from not only his facial expression but his mannerisms as well that he is not quite used to what the city has in store for himself... However, the sage does. Due to her past experiences with a few other chosen heroes of Courage, the monarch isn’t too surprised to see another one within this realm... But regardless, she becomes concerned all the same.

     ❝ If you were, then you would be right in your assumption, for I am Zelda; princess of Hyrule, ❞ and with that she offers a smile once more along with a small curtsy. As always, she decides to approach the subject gently and slowly in efforts to not greatly confuse the ‘stranger’ and potentially cause him any unnecessary worry.

     ❝ May I ask for yours in return? ❞ and though she does inquire, the sage already knows what his reply will be.
