[Pre Gryf-Huff Game] Awkwardness: Sage and Aislinn
aislinnxmarkham:
Aislinn faltered when Sage stopped her, looking between the other girl and her potion for a moment before nodding. “Alright,” she conceded. It was a valid point, much though she didn’t want to admit it was. Aislinn was shaking badly enough, felt angry enough, that she couldn’t keep her hands steady enough to work, much though she wanted to. At least, if Sage was cutting, she could keep working with the rest of what she wanted to do.
She shrugged slightly at Sage’s taking her side, narrowing her eyes toward her ingredients at the fondness in the other girl’s laugh. “I don’t think it’s his issue either, but he does, evidently. I guess I kind of understand it, he doesn’t want to get attached and he’s gonna be pretty involved in her life, since he and Loxias are so close. Especially since Loxias still has a year of school left. Cyg’ll probably be the one helping me with her when the time comes, so trying to distance himself… kind of makes sense, I guess.”
Sage had more questions then, though, and Aislinn chewed the inside of her lip thoughtfully before shaking her head slightly. “I don’t know when I can find out. They would have been able to test it at 16 weeks, but I’m a high risk pregnancy, so they can’t run the paternity tests until I’m farther down the line. I’ll be lucky if they can do it before the birth. And if it’s not Loxias’s, I’ll put her up for adoption. If she is Loxias’s… I’m keeping her. As far as my parents are concerned, though…”
That wasn’t a topic she liked to speak about, especially with the way her father had reacted upon her telling him the news. She still hadn’t been able to speak with her mother, as the woman had pointedly avoided all of her attempts at Flooing her and hadn’t answered her letters, but her father… Aislinn knew well what her father thought of her now, and hated every bit of it despite the fact that she knew it was just him lashing out.
“I still don’t know what my mother thinks,” she offered with a shrug. “She hasn’t answered my calls or letters, so I haven’t been able to talk to her about it. My father, though, is… furious, to put it lightly. He doesn’t want me to go full term, let alone keep the child. He’s concerned it’ll ruin his reputation with the Ministry and the rest of the upper crust, predictably. As though I had a good reputation with them in the first place, given I slept with half of their sons and some of their daughters even before Loxias.”
She felt a little calmer herself with the steady chopping and cutting of the ingredients, something she could do methodically and carelessly, maybe even in her sleep she'd done it so often. Sagitta had a similar skill, but Sagitta had a skill in anything she put her mind to. It was something Sage envied, with her specific skill in potions and alchemy and not much else. "Still, distancing himself and acting like a right arse are two entirely different things." She shrugged. Merlin, she couldn't believe she was the last to know, how dare those boys keep something so huge from her!? She hated being the last to know, it always made her feel like the stupid little sister…. which technically she was but still! If anyone had a right to be upset, it was her, not Cygnus.
"Why are you high-risk? Because you're young or something else?" She couldn't help the questions, and probably wouldn't until Aislinn told her to shut it. "That's cool, that you're keeping her if she's Loxias'." She said, smiling a little at the thought of a new baby around. That'd be pretty fun, having a tiny thing around to play with. Assuming it was Loxias, but in Sage's mind, one one-night stand (very loosely using the term) and a whole relationship worth of Loxias… it seemed almost entirely likely the baby was Loxias. What awful luck for that one night to have claimed the baby, that'd be the worst kind of luck, the anti-felix-felicis kind of luck.
"That sucks, hopefully they come around. I mean, yeah, teen pregnancy, that's a little bad, image-wise, but it's a baby! And it's not like you or Lox are running off, that'd be bad, image-wise. Not knowing who the dad is- I mean, between all the ministry kids, not between… you know- that'd be bad. Sticking together isn't that awful, if you think about it. Plus a baby! No one can stay mad with a cute little baby around." She laughed. She'd never liked Aislinn's reputation, but had never really taken issue with it before she'd started dating Loxias, and then she'd stopped the sleeping around and the slagging around, and Sage had kept her opinions to herself. And now, feeling betrayed by her boys, she barely remembered that she'd disliked Aislinn because of her reputation at any point, and waved her knife in a blithe movement. "Plus who in our crowd hasn't slept around with a few others. As though the parents can pretend their little angels are anything but little devils, we all know the truth, you've just been more… open," she laughed, "about it."
Gossip Talks: Sage and Elijah
elijahxharrison:
Elijah had thought, naively, that Sage would shy away from him just the same as so many of their classmates would undoubtedly be doing in the next several days before break finally came upon them. He’d thought she would want to avoid him just the same as he wished he could avoid himself, really. It should instill a sense of skittishness in her, knowing that he had almost killed someone with his bare hands, shouldn’t it? It was a misplaced hit that had done it, really, an accident that he couldn’t have anticipated, but it was still something that should frighten her.
But then, Sage was never like the norm. And there she was, in as close to him as ever, hugging him with a fond insult that he couldn’t quite understand the source of it. She should be anything but fond of him right now, shouldn’t she? She should be furious with him, for lying or for hurting him in the first place, and not as fond as she was acting right now. Sage, though, was ever the wild card. He could never predict her responses.
And so he just nodded slightly at her questions, shrugging a shoulder. “I knew a secret, yeah. Know a secret. I just… it would have been wrong of me to share something I knew about someone else for the sake of saving my own skin, you know? I know it would probably have been better, it would have saved everyone a lot of distress, especially since Laurent isn’t awake yet and her secret’s not going to have legal repercussions, but…”Â
He shook his head again, sighing quietly and tilting his head to look back out the window tiredly. Elijah had made such a mistake, in choosing to keep her secret to his chest, hadn’t he? He hadn’t known how terrible the aftershocks would be at the time, but perhaps if he’d just done what he’d been told… No. No, Elijah knew, he had done the right thing. It was the right thing to keep it quiet and let his own come out. The mistake had been in lying in the first place, surely.
Sage’s voice took on a dark tone, though, at the question of who’d told his secret, and Elijah wondered if he ought to tell her at all, with that tone in her voice. That tone dripped with malicious intent, with vengeance in her veins, and Elijah didn’t know that he should put anyone on the line that way. And yet… he’d lied once before, and it had blown up in his face. Elijah wasn’t going to take that risk again. “Rosalyn,” he offered at last. “She bumped into me at Mungo’s one afternoon, and when she asked why I was there, I just… told her the truth. I shouldn’t have told her the truth at all. Or I shouldn’t have lied about it. I don’t know.”
"Like I said, too noble for your own good." She grumbled, punching him lightly in the arm. "You should have given up whoever's you knew; you said it yourself, hers wouldn't have legal repercussions," thank Merlin because that meant it definitely wasn't hers he knew, "and it'd be saving yourself. I just- why not?" She asked, a little desperately. She knew why, already; Elijah would never value himself or his wellbeing over someone else's, especially if he was either sworn to secrecy or knew that secrecy was necessary. It just wasn't Elijah.
However, it was very much Sage, and she'd give up (almost) anyone to keep her own secret from coming out. Let alone the friends she'd lose, the brothers she'd disappoint, she'd probably be expelled… if they could prove it. Which hopefully, if she played her cards right, would never happen. And until that day, she'd protect her wellbeing over almost anyone's.
She growled aloud at the name, but shook her head at the words that followed. "No. Don't do that, don't make this about what you should have done or shouldn't have done. People think Rosalyn's a good person, it wouldn't be out of the norm to think she could keep such a big secret, to think that she'd realize what sort of consequences this kind of thing could have on you and your future. I mean, unless she's hiding that she like, killed someone, she just fucked you over to save herself. That's not on you, that's on her."
Silent Night || Cygnus & Sage
cygnusxrokonski:
Much though Cygnus hated having to dress formally, he did always love his posh parties. When he was young, he’d wondered time and time again why the adults put so much effort into getting themselves dressed up nicely. He watched his father smooth through his hair and make it as neat as he possibly could time and time again, watched his mother squeeze herself into dresses that seemed to be too tight at the top and too long at the bottom. He’d been pinched into tight little suits that he hated to no end. He didn’t understand the effort that went into the parties at all.
What he did understand, though, was the way that eyes would follow each couple when they entered the room, new and judgmental. That, he had learned, was why they put as much effort into themselves as they possibly could. There was a certain pride in drawing the most begrudgingly approving looks that they could possibly draw from the people around them. Even as a child, Cygnus had always puffed up in pride when he spotted the adults who were looking at them giving nods and pointing him out as one of the nicely dressed ones.
Which was why he put so much effort in now. Pushing his hands through his hair to smooth it back the way Aislinn had done for him at Formal, Cygnus turned away from the mirror at last, making certain his beanie was well hidden within his dress robes and making his way downstairs to the living room where Sage was sitting, awaiting the rest of their families to be prepared to go. “Don’t look so glum, dear Merlin,” Cygnus muttered, shaking his head slightly. “You love these parties as much as I do, so what’s got your knickers in a twist now? Is this still about you coming home?”
She slumped back against the couch, pouting and kicking at the hem of her dress, waiting for the others. Her hair was messily tied up, giving the appearance of a messy updo when in reality she was just rebellious and refused to neatly do her hair. Her dress was wrinkling against the back of the couch but she didn't care. It would serve her parents right for her to look lazy and messy when they arrived, for forcing her to come back when she'd told Elijah she'd stay.
She'd wanted to stay with him, wanted to keep him company and play with the puzzles she'd gotten him and make sure he didn't spend too much time being dour and alone and down on himself because of the reveal of what happened with Laurent. But instead she was stuck at home, attending parties and looking pretty and pretending she actually wanted to be there.
Cygnus came down and though his tone was half playful and half serious, she glared halfheartedly up at him. It was hard to stay completely upset with him, what with everything he himself was going through, and while she was furious with Stone and her parents, she was merely upset with Cygnus. "Yes, it's still about that. I told Eli that I'd stay with him. And now I'm stuck here, partying and playing pretty and I don't even want to." Which was unusual for her; she loved playing the pretty little princess, the troublesome youngest MacMillian, loved being surrounded by her boys and loved watching other boys want to sidle up close but always too afraid of triggering that protective instinct in her brothers.
But tonight, she just wasn't feeling it, even as she listened to the sounds of everyone putting on their final touches.
This is probably the last thing I should be getting you. I saw these and immediately thought of you so I figured it was a match made in heaven.Â
-The reason you’re not in Azkaban.
Amor,
The books included here are half English and half Spanish. Some of the potions they make in Mexico are different than the ones here, so play with them as you wish. The potion bottle is actually what it’s labeled as, as well. Feliz Navidad.
Aureliano
Sage,
I know you always need things for potions. So, here’s a new mortar and pestle, and a good set of knives. Use them well, love.
CR
Sage,
As you can tell, each of these has a different potion ingredient in them – there are forty in total, and the bottles can double as necklaces or vials depending upon which you’d prefer to use them as. Happy Christmas.
E. Harrison
Sage,
The larger package there is full of vials of various sizes, with potion ingredients stocked into them. Most of them are from plants grown in the Seventh Year Greenhouse during my free time – some of them are rare, so you’ll be one of the only ones on the grounds with them. The smaller package is the nicer thing, though. Inside the little bottle necklace is a single sip worth of Amortentia. It won’t do much if you try to use it, but it looks pretty.
Happy Christmas.
A. Markham
Sage,
I know it isn’t much, but I thought with the harsh weather we’ve been having, you could use the extra warmth. And don’t mind the perfume scent. Not quite sure if you’ll like it, but worse comes to worse, you’ve also got that wicked bottle to keep. Happy holidays, Sage.

[Post Gryf-Huff Game] A Watch, My Friend // Chloe & Sage
thechloelane:
“Obviously for the grass to grow!” she yelled at her friend, looking down as if she was really going to wait until she could see it grow.Â
She finally got to her friend, handing her the package. “Please tell me you know what this is.”
“Well make it grow faster!” She laughed. Finally Chloe was approaching her side, and she reached out her hands in a grabby motion. “Gimme gimme.”Â
“I do not.” She said, ripping open the present to reveal... “A watch?” She said, lifting an eyebrow at her best friend. “I’m... not really a watch person, Clo.”Â
harrisontate:
“Sarah’s out of pain relief potions, and you’re much better at brewing them than I am.”
“Oh, of course! I can have a few quick things by the end of the week, or some better stuff by the time you leave for break. Which would you prefer?”Â
[Pre Gryf-Huff Game] Awkwardness: Sage and Aislinn
aislinnxmarkham:
Aislinn flinched, mainly out of habit, when Sage approached as quickly as she did, her hands pressing flat against the table to square her shoulders and prepare to defend herself. Of course, she didn’t have a reason to do so. It was Sage, and while Sage’s look was almost too focused on her, giving her no leeway in which to hide and dart off from the topic she really didn’t want to talk about. Especially not in those terms.
Sage’s use of the word she was so avoiding was the worst feeling, really. Aislinn didn’t want the word rape associated with her, no matter how accurate it was. It implied a lack of control, a vulnerability that she couldn’t stand the thought of. No matter how accurate that thought was. And so, she just looked down at her ingredients again, working with too shaky hands for proper Potion work as she let the other girl ramble. When she fell silent, Aislinn just shrugged, chopping a little harder at the ingredients before her with a look of obvious distaste on her face. “I can’t tell you what Cygnus’s problem is. He’s going to be the uncle, he probably doesn’t want to get attached or something. But he’s cold shouldering and it’s pissing me off,” she returned.
Shifting over to stir, trying to ignore the fact that Sage was still looking at her, she was quiet for a minute before dragging her wand out to wave it and stepping back to wrap her arms around herself uncomfortably. “I’m not going to keep the baby if it’s not Loxias’s anyway. I can’t. I can’t do this by myself, and I can’t make him deal with that. I don’t really have an option.”
"For the love of Merlin stop, you're going to cut off a finger." She said, slipping off the counter and holding a hand out for the knife. "I'll chop, you juice?" She offered. The Slytherin was shaking so badly Sage was legitimately worried she was going to cut off a digit if she kept at it. And while Sage was all for taking frustration out on cutting and chopping and Beating, she really didn't want to explain to the nurse how Aislinn chopped off a finger.
"I get not getting attached but it's not really his issue isn't it? It's Lox's. And yours, of course." She added quickly. "I'd be pissed too, like, your friends at least should stick by you. Just ignore him, he'll realize he's an asshole and come crawling for forgiveness in time. Once he realizes he's completely off his rocker." She said with a laugh that was probably too fond for the current topic of conversation.
She leaned against the counter, finally picking up on Aislinn's body language, tilting her head at the defensive way Aislinn was holding herself. "When can you find out? Are you giving it up for adoption? Can I ask what your parents think or is that like, for another day or never day?"
[Pre Gryf-Huff Game] I’m Gonna Kill Her: Sage and Chloe
thechloelane:
“Fuel that anger towards Hufflepuff,” she suggested hoping to at least get her  friend to stop thinking about things that would put her in Azkaban.Â
“I would still wager she’s afraid to talk to Cygnus right away. Not everybody is as straight forward as you are. In fact, most people aren’t.” Chloe laughed. “Also, she might not even be thinking that Cyg is about to go off the deep end. Which I’m sure you’re going to point out is another problem.” Chloe shrugged her shoulders. “She might be slightly horrified that the gossip witch is talking about her sex life. I would be. You know, if I had one.”
Chloe laughed, reminding herself to never allow herself to be in a position where she could get on her best friend’s bad side. “Fine, agreed.”
“So done.” She said, laughing a barking, mean sort of laugh. “Hopefully Cyg does the same thing.”Â
“Oooor she’s just a skank and doesn’t want to talk about it.” She said, refusing to be swayed from her hate.Â
johannaxmcdermitt:
“I wish there were, but alas, that type of rule does not exist at the moment. Plus, the less slimy the person, the less they bet. I only get big payouts from the slimiest ones, really.” She shrugged slightly, glancing up toward the sky at the next question. “A bad feeling, I think. Someone’s going to get hurt, and I think it’s going to be a bad one.”
“Ugh, that sucks hardcore.” She wrinkled her nose. “Too bad you can’t take them for all they’re worth. Maybe next time?” She said, perking up at the thought.Â
“Duly noted. I’ll keep an eye on my team. No offense but here’s hoping we’re causing the damage instead of taking it.”Â
loxiasrogers:
“…When does it start moving?” was all he had to say about the tattoo. He didn’t approve, but it wasn’t as stupid as it could have been. He didn’t have any tattoos himself, nor had he ever thought about getting any, but he didn’t have a problem with tattoos themselves.Â
“Once it heals all the way, he said.” She said with a proud grin. She hadn’t expected him to take it so well, and she was proud of her new tattoo. “What do you think?” She asked eagerly, looking down at it and back up to Loxias.Â
Flashback Para: Two Can Keep a Secret: Sage and Harrison
harrisontate:
“I wasn’t aware this was your room. How’d you manage that, like a donation to the school or something?” He kept his tone light to try and avoid the questions he knew were coming, but they came all the same.
Harrison might not have known Sage very well, and certainly not as well as they would come to know each other after this particular encounter, but he knew enough to know that she was not, in fact, a vault. Which was precisely why he didn’t want her prying. It wasn’t that he didn’t trust her, it was just that he…well, he didn’t trust her.
“Maybe it’s a really ugly girl, and I’m ashamed of our love affair. Maybe it’s a teacher and we have to keep it secret. Maybe,” he said, standing firmly in front of the entrance to the stores, making note of her wandering eyes and hoping she didn’t know the inventory well enough to know what was missing, “It’s none of your business, since I’m a prefect and you have no good reason to be in here.”
"I did, actually. Donated a wing, the Sage wing, you're in it actually." She laughed, still getting nearer to him almost teasingly. "I'm ashamed you didn't know that already, I'll need to demand a bigger sign to mark my territory in the school." She winked.
"You date ugly girls?" She asked disbelievingly, snorting at the thought. "Teacher could be likely I suppose, but I don't know any that would waste their time with us." She was teasing again; she didn't know the prefect well, but she knew him well enough to know he was handsome and charming and she wouldn't actually put it past him to seduce a teacher. Even Cygnus hadn't fully managed that one yet.
"Oooh, pulling the prefect card, you know that just makes you sound defensive. But," She said, stopping right in front of him and glancing to the stores behind him, "I'm here to practice my studies, Mr. Tate." She said, toying with the name as though comparing him to a professor. "If that's quite alright with you… if you're up to nothing unsavory, surely you won't mind company…" She had planned on unsavory things, but there were a dozen other things she could play with. She'd been meaning on working on a few seventh year things anyway.
