This panel specifically gets to me. The way Issho is facing a dark cave, leading to a dead end. How Kaisei is walking towards an open area, the destination completely unknown, but shining so brightly.

We can talk about how Issho used this moment to be honest with Kaisei while hiding behind his facade of being a kind old man
also i do wonder if issho wants to indirectly fuel the rivarly between kaisei and akane. maybe he misses having beef with shiguma so he projects it on the kids or something
my wish now is for akane and kaisei to do a duel duet again. maybe every ten or five years or so. let's make it become an arakawa school tradition
ngl i saw this coming. but it's fine. it went as it was meant to be
at least the old bastard admitted that kaisei's performance affected him. it moved him, even
man this chapter was full of EDGING i thought like 4 times he announced the winner but he didn't thank god i said fuck issho arakawa in advance today
just realised today we'll get the winner of the god of death duet duel HELP
Most likely: Akane wins as a reverse of what happened during the selection round
I can see it: Kaisei wins for a performance that Issho himself cannot do
He fucking would: Issho declares himself the winner for raising two prodigies
Can you imagine: Shiguma Arakawa is revealed in the audience and he wins because his specialty has been so honored
Oh my god, it’s Zensho with a steel chair: he’s been awful quiet
just realised today we'll get the winner of the god of death duet duel HELP
btw i started rewatching real PEAK anime of the decade of the century of the millennium even (it's acro trip)
okay what if issho decides to be nice to both of them for once and he makes akane win this duel duet AND he allows kaisei to be promoted to shin'uchi
Shhh, bro we need to pretend to be a battle manga or Shonen Jump will cancel us
okay personally i think that akane's performance was superior i think it was more coesive and generally enjoyable BUT i really really really liked the beginning and the end of kaisei's version.
so in the end even for personal tastes it comes down to a clash between the art of the craftman that adheres to the original source and the art of the personal that slips through the cracks and gives the story a new spin 😭😭😭😭😭😭
okay batshit insane thought but: if issho, ikken and now zensho are there...what if taizen is also secretly there and all this shit is just a surprise shin'uchi promotion test
just popping up to say that this is still an option btw
no, i mean it's fine, i just didn't expect kaisei to play a made up god of death sequel starring the doctor's son
wait what if issho called kaisei "forerunner of all flowers" to hint that he is a nepo baby (he was taken in by a master earlier than others) but he didn't know there was another nepo baby (akane) around lmao
kaisei decided to embody the "killing myself in front of you to forever change the trajectory of your life" a bit too the extreme
