“I am responsible with drinking, thank you,” Kaito said half-insulted, half playful, “Plus honestly I know I shouldn’t have more than a couple of drinks. Might become too much of a showman~.”

“And I’d rather keep a lower profile” hakuba muttered glad kaito would show restraint but Heiji walked up behind Hakuba and Shinichi throwing his arms around their shoulders as he grinned to hakuba “Don’ worry! We wont embarrass ya in front of ya old classmates!”

Shinichi washed his hands as well and hummed in thought. “Something cool for now. Perhaps a hot drink when we return from the pub if it’s not too much trouble, ma’am?”

“Not at all. You can all eat before you go out though drinking on an empty stomach is a bad move” mary said heading back into the kitchen as hakuba muttered to Shinichi “That and I bet granddad was insisting on at least a small meal”

“I’m sorry did you say ‘the war’,” Shinichi asked, “I need to know more about this.”

“Humans have countless tales of wars between heaven and hell right?” hakuba said trying to hide an amused smirk “Far back when humans were very early on there was an actual war. People argue over what the motives were and no ones sure anymore it just turned into a perpetual war where both sides forgot the reason so eventually a vague truce was called. Its not been perfect, and theres small fights now and then but the last one was centuries ago”

“I’ll let you know if one is around,” Shinichi said, “I can recognize most of the members from my run ins with them- particularly Gin, Vodka, Vermouth, and Bourbon…” The detective trailed off. “I knew a few other members… I tried to save both of them, but Gin ended them before I could do anything… Gin’s the worst one. He’s got long, platinum hair and always has a cigarette in his mouth.”

Shincihi grabbed his bow-tie and set it to Gin’s voice. “And he sounds like this,” he said in Gin’s voice before setting it back, “You can’t really miss him. If you see him, try to get away discreetly. He will kill you if he sees you. Just like he tried to do to Shinichi-niichan.”

Hakuba stared at the tie part of him wanting to ask about it but that could come later, so he dedicated the voice to memory “I’ll be sure to be careful of anyone like that. And the others.” He sat back thinking hard on what his options where “Since they’re worldwide too, I might be able to look at Scotland yards records. I can ask to look over old cases since I came to England in regards to an old case, they wont know I looked at others.”

“I can agree to finishing quickly. I’d like to get back inside,” Shinichi mused as he began to rapidly work on the flowers.

Once the garden was done, Shinichi led the way inside, holding the door for the others. “<Yard is done. Is there anything else we can do to help out around here?>”

“Thats all dear! Come get some drinks!” Mary called out as Hakuba walked over to wash his hands off of the dirt “I’ve made some cooler drinks given you’ve been at work but if you want something warm just say!”

“Sounds good to me,” Shinichi mused, “How about Leonard Cohen’s ‘Hallelujah’? I’ve always been fond of that song. It’s such a peaceful song… Unless that song is offensive since you’re a demon?”

“Only if you’re an old demon who still has a grudge over the war” hakuba said with a chuckle “Thats fine with me though dont worry”

“Jet lag,” Shinichi commented as he ran a hand through his hair, “So… You told Hakuba-niichan about them?”

“I did. It’s too dangerous for you to go alone. I know you’re capable, but you also know what they’re capable of,” Yusaku warned.

“And my normal backup isn’t here,” Shinichi mused, thinking of the FBI and Bourbon, “It makes logical sense. I just had hoped to not drag anymore people into this mess… Thank you for being willing to help, Hakuba-niichan. What did Uncle tell you?”

“he told me of the group, how they’re all over so I need to be careful” Conan sounded so serious talking about this...it was almost a shame to hear a child his age talking of such heavy things “But I’ll be careful. I’ll try to just seem to keep to my usual routine”

[Hooo boy things went a bit mad in my life, topped with the fact i’m getting made redundant in the start of march. My agency is handling it about as well as a fire in a gunpowder factory and my only option is to move 220 miles away to Glasgow! Will try to be more around though]

“There’s no suspect,” Shinichi mumbled as he sat up, “I know she’s with them…” The detective blinked and then realized who was there. “H-Hakuba-niichan?! Wait… The fireworks… Oh… Thank you for bringing me to Da- Uncle.”

“It’s ok, I could hardly leave you be” Hakuba said not paying the stammer much mind, Conan had just woke up after all! “You seemed to need the sleep anyway”

Hakuba smiled softly then leaned over kissing Shinichis cheek in return “Love you Shinichi...come on. I’m sure those two are treating this like a race”

“I know” hakuba said looking down to the bed still as he admitted this “I was similar, but I didnt want to say anything given it was far from fair to. Didn’t want to risk bothering you”
