Rise in POP!
This week on “Rise in POP!”, we will be talking about what would happen if world war III happened and wiped out a few billion people. It is said that if such thing would ever occur, it would have little effect on the population trajectory. Studies show that even if billions of people were killed, the estimated population for 2100 is 12 million people. An interesting statistic came out about our current population. Our population is about 14% of all humans that have ever lived. Just to give a perspective, if 2 billion people were wiped out right now, in 2100 it is estimated that the population will be back up to 9 billion people. THE WORLD MUST CHANGE!

How does our millennial keep growing in America?!?
First off, for those of you who don't know what a Millennial is, it can be referred to as a thousand year span but what i mean is when a "Generation" reaches adulthood or is born in, so our millennial is anyone born from 1981-1997. It is said that we will reach of upward to 75.3 million people, passing the great BABY BOOMERS!!!! There millennial being 1946 to 1964. The big question that scientist have is how does our millennial keep growing when our time period of people being born into is already over. Scientist figured out that the influx number of immigrants to the United States, and the Boomer generation is starting to die off, while having 74.9 million. but people say that these numbers are skewed and wrong. they says that because the millennial is such a long period of time that it is wrong because the political views of someone in 1981 is different then someone in 1997. The period of time went over a time in the world where social classes where changing, norms were changing, and people were changing.

The Pope has spoken.
In an interview with the Pope about the world and earth, he shared what he thinks about whats happening. He said that not only climate change was real, it was also largely due to humans. he went on talking about the bible and how says that it is a blessing to be great with seed and fertility, but with the number of people on this planet, he said "couples do not need to breed “like rabbits”". Even though the pope didn't link these two things together, climate scientist and population experts have. In 2009, Hillary Clinton mentioned in a speech that you cannot mention climate change without population growth or family sizes and as soon as she said this, critics jumped as said she was calling for eugenics, in result, shoving this issue aside and not talking about it sense. scientist hope that with the pope's help, they can assert this issue in a respectable manner. This issue is so sensitive to people that they are scared to mention it. the last report about it was the "Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the United Nations' board of climate experts, included concerns about population size, saying, “Globally, economic and population growth continued to be the most important drivers of increases in CO2 emissions from fossil fuels.” For the first time in its five years of producing such reports, the panel acknowledged that family-planning programs could make a real difference, both in slowing the rate of warming and in helping vulnerable nations adapt to its effects."

Second Holocaust?.........
Following the terrorist attack that occurred in France, Germans are beginning to worry about the growing Muslim population in Germany. I don’t know if the word is worry but they are very mad. Germany has the largest Muslim population in Western Europe after France and they feel that instead of the Muslims killing Jews, they might try and take over Germany. Germany has approximately 3 to 3.5 million Arabs and only 20% of them are citizens. Migration to germany started in the 1960's mostly from Turkey. They came because there was a labor shortage and after their work was done, half went back and half stayed. Some are saying this is the beginning to another holocaust but in addition to the Jews being massacred, Muslims will be too.

Saving the world with less…….offspring
There is a large population of people who now thing that having 2 children is more than enough. They talk about fiction novels like "Among the Hidden", that say that it’s a one child world and other children will be killed. They point out of course that they wouldn’t kill the other children but they say that 2 children is more than enough. Pippa Hayes, 56 year old grandmother says, “Humans are tipping the balance with the natural world, to the detriment of both humanity and the other species that share our lovely, finite planet.” She feels strongly that doctors should encourage people to have smaller families. “Doctors should be promoting replacement number of children; two per couple, one per single parent.” There was a survey done of 2,362 adults, showed that 63% of adults think environmental conservation should be taken into account when deciding how many children to have. Of that group, 51% believe people should have no more than two offspring.

"My husband wont let me speak!!!!"
In most places around the world, we have a good read about how many people live in every country but of course some countries show difficulty. One of those countries are Afghanistan. The last Census in Afghanistan was in 1979. Many Afghans lack surnames, most do not know their birthday and women will not speak without their husbands present. Due to reasons like these it is difficult to get a good projected total. Census workers travel around Afghanistan, going door to door, helping people choose a name and a birthday for their whole family. As one can imagine this is very difficult, first for the fact that there are a lot of people, second because they have to avoid running into the Taliban at all costs and third, navigating through the Pamir and Hindu mountains where a great number of the population lives.
