Sometimes you fall off the wagon for months. Sometimes you tell yourself you’re gonna start fresh on Monday and by Wednesday you’ve already fallen back off. Sometimes you have to restart a 100 times and it’s frustrating. But it will be okay. You can do this. One day at a time
“Are we in trouble?”

HAYLEY KIYOKO AND KING PRINCESS BOTH RELEASED NEW SONGS HOLY FUCK.
THE LESBIAN JESUS AND THE KING OF LESBIANS ARE OUT HERE GIVING THE GAYS EVERYTHING WE WANT
“In 1984, when Ruth Coker Burks was 25 and a young mother living in Arkansas, she would often visit a hospital to care for a friend with cancer.
During one visit, Ruth noticed the nurses would draw straws, afraid to go into one room, its door sealed by a big red bag. She asked why and the nurses told her the patient had AIDS.
On a repeat visit, and seeing the big red bag on the door, Ruth decided to disregard the warnings and sneaked into the room.
In the bed was a skeletal young man, who told Ruth he wanted to see his mother before he died. She left the room and told the nurses, who said, "Honey, his mother’s not coming. He’s been here six weeks. Nobody’s coming!”
Ruth called his mother anyway, who refused to come visit her son, who she described as a "sinner" and already dead to her, and that she wouldn't even claim his body when he died.
“I went back in his room and when I walked in, he said, "Oh, momma. I knew you’d come", and then he lifted his hand. And what was I going to do? So I took his hand. I said, "I’m here, honey. I’m here”, Ruth later recounted.
Ruth pulled a chair to his bedside, talked to him
and held his hand until he died 13 hours later.
After finally finding a funeral home that would his body, and paying for the cremation out of her own savings, Ruth buried his ashes on her family's large plot.
After this first encounter, Ruth cared for other patients. She would take them to appointments, obtain medications, apply for assistance, and even kept supplies of AIDS medications on hand, as some pharmacies would not carry them.
Ruth’s work soon became well known in the city and she received financial assistance from gay bars, "They would twirl up a drag show on Saturday night and here'd come the money. That's how we'd buy medicine, that's how we'd pay rent. If it hadn't been for the drag queens, I don't know what we would have done", Ruth said.
Over the next 30 years, Ruth cared for over 1,000 people and buried more than 40 on her family's plot most of whom were gay men whose families would not claim their ashes.
For this, Ruth has been nicknamed the 'Cemetery Angel'.”— by Ra-Ey Saley
She’s 60 now, she’s still doing activist and advocacy work, and working on a memoir.
wow i love this
One of the truest things I’ve ever heard is that people who say they’re “brutally honest” are more interested in the brutality than the honesty.
some kind of beautiful
One of the reasons men didn’t have an issue with Wonder Woman is because they can objectify her. She’s basically in a metal swimsuit. Now, I think they did a really good job with her costume considering what they had to work with. It looked like real armor and something that an Amazon woman would wear, way better than past iterations where she was literally in lingerie. Captain Marvel, on the other hand, is in a full suit that covers her entire body. It fits her well, but it’s not a skintight bodysuit like what Black Widow has worn before. It’s practical and isn’t something that men can easily objectify. They didn’t have problems with some of the feminist stuff in Wonder Woman because they were too busy staring up her skirt. Men don’t have an issue with a woman on screen if it’s someone they can objectify.
I was looking everywhere for this post!
There were some things I wanted to add to further hammer this point.
Another reason men preferred Wonder Woman is because of her supposed “naivety.” She’s really intelligent, but when it came to actual interaction with men and life outside Themyscira, Diana was totally new to that and men think she’d be easy to manipulate. Even though they’d be completely wrong, that’s what they think. We see this kind of thing in the real world where American men try to manipulate women of color or women from foreign countries all the time.
Captain Marvel had an American accent and was far more advanced than they were, so she’s mentally intimidating, because they know how fast she’d pick up on their BS.
Diana also has more traditional feminine qualities, such as her delicate nature and way of speaking. The biggest reason was her love interest and the fact that the group she fought along side with were all men. In Wonder Woman, she did knock some insulting men on their asses, but right after, a man says that he’s both afraid and aroused. When Captain Marvel does the same thing, it’s more of a, “lol bitch bye!🤣” And men can’t find a reason why that would be sexually enjoyable.
Wonder Woman was actually a really awesome feminist symbol and in no way was she even sexualized, but men will still find a way. Which really sucks, because the two movies show that strong women come in many different forms and they don’t have to be anything alike, but the woman that appears more approachable will be sexualized while the other woman will be labeled as a man hater.
This reblog is fantastic, I never thought about Diana being more approachable, but it makes total sense! A lot of people think I’m hating on Wonder Woman, but I’m just pointing out how men are seeing her, and this post helps explain it even more. Her outfit wasn’t made to specifically objectify her, but it is easier for men to objectify. Wonder Woman is an amazing movie and is pretty feminist, but the stuff that’s been mentioned is why men had less of an issue with it. Wonder Woman still did get shit, but I’ve seen so many men try to defend their sexist behavior towards Captain Marvel by saying that they love Wonder Woman. I’m just pointing out in my original post one of the reasons why so many men are saying they aren’t being sexist because they love Wonder Woman but not Captain Marvel.
also, wonder woman showed attraction towards a man, which would make the male viewer feel like she could be attracted to them. captain marvel was like a big ol lesbian who didn’t show any attraction towards the men around her, and went as far as to have a really really really gay close relationships with another woman. men don’t tend to like women who are not attracted to them. they don’t like women who would rather be with other women, and not let them watch. if a woman doesn’t exist for a man then what’s her point?
I had this exact conversation with a dude! I was like, in Wonder Woman, Diana is loving and warm and kind, and that’s deliberate. She loves everyone despite their bullshit. It’s kind of her thing. In Captain Marvel, on the other hand, Carol is abrasive and not sorry about it; she’s a prickly badass who, in the course of the movie, is repeatedly shown to be someone who doesn’t give a good goddamn what any fucking man thinks of her - AND THAT’S DELIBERATE.
My point here is that the boy listened, because his ass knows better than to argue with me, but it was obvious that he was having to bend his brain around the concept of a movie with a woman who is deliberately alienating to men and a fucking delight to women! You’d think Captain Marvel was some kind of art house foreign language flick. That is how bizarre men find it when a woman is depicted as Not For Them.
I’ve been looking for this post for weeks! Please read this!
[Turner] and Jonas live nearby, in fashionable Nolita, which can be something of a paparazzi hunting ground. “I’ve learned to accept the fact that if it’s my worst-dressed day, they’ll probably catch me, and I’m okay with that,” she laughs. “There’s this expectation for actresses to look good all the time, which is not what being an actress should be,” she continues, warming to her theme. “It should be about playing a role. So why should all actresses have to be stick-thin and look beautiful all the time?” It’s a problem on-screen too, she believes. “Every director is like: ‘We really have to fall in love with this character.’ Why does the audience have to fall in love with her? What if she’s a serial killer? F**k that s**t.” — Sophie Turner for Net-A-Porter, 2019, photographed by Yelena Yemchuk.
I want routine with you, I want waking up in a morning to the sun shining or the rain pouring with you, I want home with you, I want late night tv and too much to drink with you, I want slow dancing in our living room, in our house, in our home with you. I want you.

please make sure that wherever you’re at in life, you don’t treat it like a transitory period. don’t waste your college years wishing to already be graduated & have a job. don’t waste your single years wishing for someone to be in love with. if/when those things come, they will come in due time and they will be good. but there is nothing like looking back and feeling empty because you wasted literal years ignoring what you had because you were hoping for something better. while it’s important to better yourself and reach for your goals, don’t neglect the present because that’s where you are now and it’s your now that determines your future.
