Isolated
"The anticipation and dread he felt at seeing her was also a kind of sensual pleasure, and surrounding it, like an embrace, was a general elation--it might hurt, it was horribly inconvenient, no good might come of it, but he had found out for himself what it was to be in love, and it thrilled him."
Ian McEwan (Atonement)
You're beautiful, never doubt it <3
Thankyou to whoever wrote this, truly.

Arrest of leading suffragettes, London, 13 October 1908. Emmeline Pankhurst (1858-1928), Christabel Pankhurst (1880-1958) and Flora Drummond (1878-1949) being read the warrant for their arrest, issued after they returned to Clement's Inn at 6 o'clock on 13 October 1908, having failed to attend their hearing at half past three in Bow Street Police Station.
Flora Drummond was a British suffragette. Nicknamed The General for her habit of leading Women's Rights marches wearing a military style uniform 'with an officers cap and epaulettes'.
"When its gone, you'll know what a gift love was. You'll suffer like this. So go back and fight to keep it." — Ian McEwan (Enduring Love)
Confronting Beauty
I’m walking down, down the steep hill
To Kinghorn beach, gravity quickens my step,
Pulls me to your gilded shores,
The year we smashed those alien jelly fish,
Under thoughtless, unpitying stones
Comes to mind, and me running from some-
Harsh word or cruel action all the way
To the cliff top, just to be with something bigger than you,
The year we stood on the wild, free rocks,
Mocking the sea, with each thunder blast,
We grip the railings with ghostly knuckles,
Scream a little louder – our bitter protest,
As the footsteps I left got larger
So to the refuge within me for our past,
My own Kerouac-esque cave,
Of immature, unashamed, freedom,
The naive ideal come true,
Shot into true life, confronting beauty,
With endless brickwork structures
Burned in my retinas like sunspots,
I learnt to be alone – to board my boat
With no oars and no worry for their lack,
I still stand staring at those waves,
They’ve watched me grow so it’s right,
That I should check in, hands in pocket,
Sharing all, without uttering a word.

"Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

We are the therapy generation
On our knees begging for affirmation
-
We stare at the stars because we’ve seen it in films
Wondering why our lives remain unfulfilled
-
We smile in the day and network online
But when our connection severs we sit and ask why
-
We wander round towns with headphones plugged in
There but not there we don’t see, we’re not looking
-
We dream of greatness but our time is too precious
We don’t want to prove ourselves but blame you when you won’t let us
-
We are new labour and new morals too
We swear before nine what the fuck you gonna do?
-
We’re crying for discipline in a world minus fathers
We’re screaming for someone to appear and push harder
-
We’re pleading for guidance in a world lacking leaders
We just want someone to tell us we’re needed
-
We are the therapy generation
Immersed in a world of online playstation
-
We cry in the rain because we’ve seen it in films
Destined to lead lives that remain unfulfilled

My heart belongs here.
The Great Ignored
The great ignored of our luckless generation
What we’d learn from the blacks of your eyes, the marrow of your spines.
Stoic faces tremble from your measured revelations
Your smile, too kind, through the words that I can’t find.
-
And I will look for that time in between
When your eyes had whites like mine perhaps,
But the gesture pushed aside falls dead unseen
I can only swallow, blink, shake away these cracks.
-
No eloquent expression between red wine swallowed
Could ever dent the flesh as you carry, eyes set,
Say goodbye to solidarity, the inconvenient honoured
Who needs us, trust your brothers to let you rest,
-
You went feet down with adventurers smile
Your thoughts your own – growing – not grown
And many feet traced yours mile for mile
But just to of followed isn’t to know what you know.
-
The great ignored of our luckless generation
What we’d learn from the blacks of your eyes, the marrow of your spines.
Your name, forgotten, only uttered by relations
Your smile, too kind, through the words you choose to hide.

Disjointed Reality
I arrived at the cinema,
Just in time for the happy ending,
Which seemed rather hollow,
Without knowing what came before.
