From Weather Philippines: 930pm Dec. 20 The Global Typhoon Forecast Models (GTFM) are predicting VINTA to become a Tropical Cyclone within the next 24 to 48 hours. The system’s strength could likely be Tropical Depression (TD) or Tropical Storm (TS) classification as it moves over the central part of the South Philippine Sea on Thursday afternoon (Dec 21). The forecast confidence is at MEDIUM. Forecast to make landfall as a Tropical Storm (TS) over the eastern coast of Northern Davao Oriental by Friday early morning (Dec 22) between 3-4 am with medium forecast confidence MEDIUM.

As of 10am Dec 19, a storm to be named typhoon Vinta is expected to make landfall on Dec 21 2017 Current projection is that it will track west thru southern visayas but the intensity and projected track of this storm have varied an incredible amount over the last 2 days.
