some thoughts on shunazu and dehumanization that i have nowhere else to share.
shu and nazuna both dehumanized, put each other on a higher pedestal, while enabling the other's deepest desires, letting their relationship spiral into an unhealthy extreme. i think how they viewed the other can be compared to how god is presented in christianity. god is supposed to love you unconditionally, but you a) have to worship him b) have to fully obey him. shunazu were each other's god, shu loved nazuna and nazuna loved shu, yet they both had to fulfill a specific condition in order for their dynamic to work. shu worshipped nazuna as if he was someone above human. nazuna craved the attention, but shu went overboard with it, became such a control freak just to preserve nazuna's perfect image that was worthy of worship, until it shattered nazuna's self worth, made him desperate to stay as a perfect doll that could be loved. meanwhile nazuna submitted himself to shu like he was above human, allowing shu's toxic way of loving to flourish, to the point where nazuna started to feel crushed by his own obedience instead of getting something out of it.
shu worshipped nazuna while nazuna submitted himself to shu, but in the end they were not gods, just humans and that's not how humans are supposed to love each other. first cracks in their relationships started due to nazuna's godhood faltering, when he couldn't sing with his soft voice anymore. it all crashed and burned when shu's godhood faltered later. when he stopped being such a strong figure, showed weakness, submitting to him didn't make sense to nazuna, as we clearly see by him calling shu useless in song of the garbage dump.
when they parted ways and began to heal separately, they finally showed love to each other in a human way. both were full of messy emotions and resentment, yet shu still saved ra*bits and nazuna who was not perfect anymore, not his anymore in milky way. yet nazuna still saved valkyrie with a weak, sick shu in star festival when he was said not to, when he had other plans. this love wasn't an extreme, they were apart, constantly saying snarky comments to the other, they had such complicated feelings and that's why it was finally so human.
