AH YES. This male had quite the flamboyant style didn’t he? A STYLE that hitched right off his body unlike any other man Kasumi has ever come across. From the way he spoke, towards the way he STARED. His gaze was never ending like the cycle of the YIN and the YANG, constantly keeping balance in both mind and soul. It was quite an easy difficulty this situation was. This entire endeavor started with WEAKER DEVILS halting Kasumi’s excursion for a mere moment, though now, it was this PARTICULAR DEVIL who would put her assault at a complete standstill. Okay. So it would seem the difficulty has enhanced with no one in the driver’s seat. Now they’ve reached the midpoint.
EVIL? No. That didn’t describe this man one bit.
(♘) ── His intentions were very unclear and uncanny. For the both of them, there was no way it was a surreal moment. That was only for this KUNOICHI. Though did she actually care about this sequence of events that just transpired before her? No. Her attentiveness towards his personality was PISS POOR at best. Valuable time was being waste. It didn’t matter if it was MEASLY MILLISECOND. To Kasumi. one, it was more important than anything. At least that’s what this man thought while metaphorically reading her.
All his OPINION.
There she goes again with this game of PEEKABOO..
(👺) ── If anyone was playing TEDIOUS games, it was her. Constantly terminating her sentences like a lost child. She was completely stiff. PERSONA wise. Her silence felt like a knife CARVING LETTERING into his brain . Dante could tell, she drank in the silence like a poison and spat out his words like a eerie substance. Her pupils lost its dilation from what Dante could tell. Yup. Definitely uninterested. Completely clear. Though it was obvious that the void inside of her still needed to be taken care of. And that was a PERSONAL void only Kasumi knew about, unbeknownst to him.
FINALLY! More words.
(👹) ── Though her words caused his own lips to kiss together and omit a smack. Not from her apology, though from the way she just turned tail and split. Well. Nearly split. Her inky personality stuck with Dante for a moment. Hell, she even reminded him of someone FAIRLY close to him. Who was it? That wasn’t exactly relevant at the moment. The words she left him with brushed against his skin like a summer breeze. No doubt, to a CAREFREE man like this, she was as cold as autumnal air. No more words. No more wind. This entire area was embedded into nothingness. The BEASTS that rested before them were slowly decaying from the PUNISHMENT Kasumi left them with. Their official document to hell was given. No more corruption to this land.
Though Dante didn’t wanna stay himself. And he could use some FUN. Hopefully. She would allow him to tag along.
(ダンテ) ── ◤HOLD ON A SEC ninja babe. How about you get some company? I know you can handle yourself, though I can’t pass out on having more fun if you encounter more demons along the way. It’ll be fun! Come on now.◢
He wasn’t gonna let her go just like that.
(スパーダ) ── ◤THE NAME is Dante.◢
IT WAS MOMENTS LATER SHE TOOK NOTE the MAN IN RED was already on her tail --- following her out of possible interest of her own agenda? Was he going to slow her down? Maybe. Was Kasumi going to give him the boot? If she COULD, she would have done so ALREADY --- unfortunately, this man’s personality was too free spirited, childish && flirtatious. Definitely not Kasumi’s cup of tea. Apparently, he wanted to tag along, INTRODUCED himself even.
A sigh produced just once as she continued on PATH --- the shattering remains of the once howling undead meant nothing to her. She’s seen it ALL, fought them all just as she always has alongside her NINJA BRETHREN. A ninja performs well on the BATTLEFIELD------------ clean cuts, grounds and walls painted in red like MONET canvas paintings ---- indeed sloppy on the BLOODSHED but very precise with incisions. It is how the demons of the shadows always execute.
Her once accumulated steps came to a sudden stop.
❝Kasumi.❞
She quietly mumbles out her own name since it was only fair that he shared his.
❝ –--- If you’re going to tag along, I suggest you move FASTER.❞
As cold as that sounded, she wasn’t in the mood for playing games. There was someone at the top of her LIST that needed to be vanquished by her own hands---- but in doing so, she needed to find THAT MAN’s connections first.
Her over-the-shoulder gazes ensued as she paces.
❝ – You are without doubt the most uncommon character I’ve come across--- trust me, I’m not blind and stupid. I am a ninja after all, one with the ability to sense beyond ordinary human senses. I now you’re a hybrid. Definitely not the first one I’ve met.❞
She was talking about the Fiend Huntress, Rachel --- for she is a hybrid as well.
❝Had you been a full fledged demon, I would have attacked you.❞
She admits.
Continued from here.
The fluffy haired Cowboy quickly took note of the woman’s reaction to the name of his target that he asked about. This ‘Victor Donovan’ must have catapulted himself out of this woman’s good graces because the tone of her voice and facial expression almost did a complete 180 from the calm, collected demeanor she had only moments earlier.
Spike did not anticipate her to approach him so quickly with how far she originally stood away from him, but he kept his cool. Deciding not to answer her barrage of questions right away, Spike casually strolled away from her while brushing his unkempt hair with his hand, taking his time to figure out how to use this situation to his advantage. “Would you also like to know what brand of cigarettes I smoke as well as my shoe size?”
The bounty hunter spoke with a sarcastic tone, which would more than likely upset the woman as they both knew he was choosing not to answer her questions. Deflecting questions was another one of his many talented yet annoying skills. Stopping his strolling, he reached within his pants pocket and pulled out a vile that contained a mysterious red liquid. Holding it up to the woman while flashing a grin, Spike was ready to make his play. “The contents within this vile is quite important. Help get me inside this facility to use one of their computers and all of your questions will be answered. Deal?
TONE CYNICISM WAS NOT HELPING and seeing how dire the situation had become, jokes were not going to be TOLERATED --- there was no time for childish games for that matter. She opted to strike back with something in the same gesture but decided against it. There wasn’t a point to add more fuel to the FIRE, it’d be a waste of time and it wouldn’t take her to where she needed to be. What BOGGLED her mind was the fact that this handsome gentleman wasn’t too well-informed of DOATEC’s current status. Perhaps he was given an outdated version? Donovan was no longer with the company.
❝There must be some mistake--❞
She pauses in the midst of her conclusion.
❝ –-- That man isn’t here, he is no longer part of DOATEC -- what you’ve come here for is nothing but an empty office. He is not part of Helena-san’s company anymore.❞
Ever since MIST was unveiled, DOATEC’s corporation was brought into an innocent state. DOATEC was used as some sort of mask to hide away the true MASTERMIND behind these experiments, behind all creations of every B.O.W that ever existed.
Victor Donovan had a big tendency of being so secretive with everything, including his physical appearance --------- && no one has ever seen his face. They say he’s always bearing either a Japanese kabuki mask, a demon kappa mask or even a tengu one.
Kasumi & Hayate weren’t the only ones who had their share of TROUBLE --- Helena was also involved in the horrendous war against Donovan. Luckily for her, she was able to get rid of the monster that tried to destroy her father’s company.
Unfortunately, the stranger wasn’t given a full report of that & the kunoichi would make sure of that.
She continues.
❝But I can take you to someone who may be able to help the both of us. You won’t find him here, I can tell you that.❞
Nice to know that she’d seen his reasoning, and accepted it as a definite course of action. They had to keep their heads, after all, lest they were to fumble along their hot pursuit. Of course, as it stood, the trail they were assumed to be following was a cold one. Nodding in agreement, the nephilim turned to Kasumi again, and returned, “So, would the subway system be a good start? It might not be the easiest place to navigate, and I’m guessing you don’t have any solid leads on Donovan’s whereabouts—or his habits, tendencies, the way he avoids and eludes.” Taking every minute detail into account would make all the difference. Of course, he’d momentarily forgotten that Kasumi had come to Limbo City for the very reason of finding out whether her target was here or not.
It would be good if he led her to the station, in any case: might be beneficial if she understood her bearings, the lay of the land. She was new here, after all, and this place would be unfriendly toward her. It seemed that, now, the nephilim had taken the lead. Longer strides, a stiffened set of shoulders pointed toward a claim over dominance of the situation. He’d pulled ahead of her as a result, but only by a foot at the most; he remembered they ought to stick close. Thanks to the reduced skyline, there were far fewer obstructions in the sky, thus rendering the city exposed to greater amounts of sunlight. In the heat of the afternoon sun, traversing a broken city on foot was by no means enjoyable or easy. Naturally, there were areas left untouched; others were relatively whole, but many others had suffered the same desolation as the grounds upon which the former Silver Sacks Tower had stood.
Paradise, oddly enough, and the block it was part of, had been mostly spared. Vergil, perhaps, should have been back there, but… well, he was tired of dealing with restoration, to say the least. Hunting a criminal appeared so much more fun for the time being. Of course, the deeper he involved himself, the less a chance he’ll have to back out. But it wasn’t his intention to up and quit. Most tasks were seen through to fulfillment, which the princess he aided now should appreciate for ever more.
Side streets and back alleys provided moderate cover for their trip, and all along the way they’d been fortunate enough to run into no hindrances. Vergil had, however, felt quite a few demons looming and watching, and he’d even sighted a few, though the images were fleeting at best—just blurs of colors and shapes that did not belong. But they’d felt him, too, and so turned tail. They knew him, of course; knew what he was and what he would do if so given the chance. He could only imagine there would be pockets of groups spread all throughout the underground metro. Kasumi should take caution, and Vergil with her. “There,” he went on to indicate, pointing the hilt of his sword toward the entrance that dipped below the surface. It lay several yards away, and it’d taken them only a long trot to get there. “The subway’s down there. I think it’d be fair to warn you that numerous hazards lie in wait,” he cautioned, eyes fixing upon a determined pair. “We can turn back, if you think it’d be more of a waste of time than anything to pick apart a subway station. It might be operational, or… on the fritz, at least. That, and– Well, I don’t know if you noticed by now, but there’s more than people that inhabit the city, now. They do a good job at hiding, for the most part, and there’s a remarkable chance they’ll be holed up beneath the surface. Fitting, I think, considering where they’d originated.” It was really all up to Kasumi, and whatever her gut was telling her.
THE CITY HAD GROWN MORE EERIE BY THE SECOND with each advance taken, more and more as they proceed ------ the DARKER its aura had become. No fear to be displayed upon masked visage, but extreme CAUTION taken highly. Every corner, every building && even the people seemed so MELANCHOLIC --- almost dull and lifeless. It was as though the DARKNESS had consumed the very spirits of these civilians. It was sickening to look out --- her ninja senses weren’t fooling her. She was able to sense the paranormal that hid in the shadows ---- just itching to come out and play. Huh... there are fiends here as well.
Kasumi’s auburn hues fixated on the WEAKNESS of the inhabitants, she could almost see it ---- what on earth happened to them? This was a terrible landscape CANVAS to study and it was evident that some sort of dark force has taken control of the city. && at the sound of her VERGIL’s voice, her attention was abruptly taken from the grotesque VICINITY and now focused on him, the girl was in another world for that second. It felt disturbing --- she had questions for him, but would rather not add more problems when she’s already got too much on her OWN plate.
❝Yes --------------- we should begin there and work our way to the top. Taking every detailed aim should help us reach our goal.❞ she adds.
She trailed behind the NEPHILIM since she wasn’t familiar with LIMBO CITY ----- yet it was so quiet, nothing resonating. That was never a good sign.
A path so filled with uncertainty, her visions came clear just as her destination was just unveiled.
A SUBWAY --- a very unsanitary one, at that.
--- Kasumi thought. The conversation continued betwixt the two.
❝ It’s fine, I have no problem in proceeding, I can hold out on my own. I may have been raised by my mother like a princess but I was trained harshly by both my father and older brother. I’ve faced many obstacles over the two year span separated from home --- humans and monsters, I have killed too.❞
Just as they advanced in further.... an unwelcoming odor emits from the sewer drains --- the smell was harrowing, she was unable to breathe.
Several coughs were forced out from her and even behind the mask.
❝ ... ! ! ! ❞
It was then && there, she needed to remove her ninja mask with one simple grasp and instantaneously torn from her. Her once concealed face was finally disclosed.
❝ – The smell isn’t helping, it reeks like 10,000 dead corpses down here.❞
Would you tell me my fortune? It's not like I'm into that. Just harmless curiosity, Sakura-ya.
❝You will take joy in eating bread due to hanging around the wrong people for the next 2 years.❞
If you don't join, I'll chase you around naked until you do?
❝-------You’re ultimately nauseating.❞
I like you.
❝I don’t.❞
