The building is the Quinault Lodge in Washington. I stayed there one night before an incredible trip out into the Quinault Rainforest and was excited that I got the chance to illustrate it.

Anhedonia, Here I Come The New Yorker
When I read this short story, I knew this was a good fit. The tale of Bobby is a wandering, quiet, kinda dark window into the life of a loner. Bobby lives in a nowhere town in Ireland, and we wanted to create the scene where he spies his pot dealer, the schoolgirl Becky, from across the dirty parking lot. For reference I picked a few random towns on the Google map of Ireland, and creeped around on Street View.
My favorite bit of this is the little cigarette butt in the corner. Thanks AD Aviva Michaelov

Every Procrastinator’s dream clock. Well, I know it’s mine.
Should, Coulda, Woulda, by Swedish design student Maria Bergström, is a blank-face wall clock that comes with a set of colorful leather-covered magnets. The magnets represent tasks you want to accomplish throughout the day. Stick ‘em onto the clock according to when you want to complete your work and behold: a gentle reminder of all the things you need to get done. Finish a task on time and reward yourself by removing the corresponding magnet. If you don’t finish on time? The clock’s hand pushes the magnet forward. Dally on all your tasks and the hand pushes all the magnets forward – a slightly less gentle reminder of your laggardly ways.

These stunning photographs of Hong Kong in the 1950s are captured beautifully by Fan Ho during his teenage years.
Fan Ho was born in Shanghai, China in 1931. When was 13, his father gave him a twin lens Rolleiflex, and he was immediately entranced. From the start, he showed an innate sense of light and drama that are the hallmarks of his images today. Ho immigrated to Hong Kong in his teens. There, he began to document the dramas of daily life in the bustling city, from crowded markets to lonely alleyways.
