My name is Salem!

I’m an alterhuman that’s mostly a fox, usually a silver one but it goes back and forth between orange and silver. I feel like many animals but usually have a main group that changes.

Other animals I mostly feel like include: Canadian Lynx, Icelandic Horse, Woodland Caribou, Saint Bernard, and some kind of Feline.

Been feeling a lot like a Saint Bernard lately

Especially with how much heavy lifting I’ve been doing at work

I like that part of my job a lot cause it makes my stupid dog brain feel useful and strong

I really wish more werewolf media would get into the absolute agony that must be turning into a wolf

Like how come whenever a character turns into a completely different organism, they’re just ok??

Like ur telling me that when your bones, muscles, organs shift, it doesn’t fucking hurt???

How come no one dives into the biological aspects of becoming something else? The changes that would need to happen to the DNA in your cells, the genetic code to change from people code to animal code, for that code to then work from the cellular level to the structure of your bones, muscles, organs

Ears from the side of your head shifting and moving to the top, your nose and mouth elongating and growing into a muzzle, your teeth growing sharper, arm and leg bones shifting and cracking into those of canine legs, your tail bone forming more bone to produce a tail, skin getting torn open to make room for canine traits

I cannot emphasize enough how much it would hurt to feel your bones cracking and shifting to accommodate the new canine genes

Feeling the fur grow through your skin suddenly, having to adjust to a new mouth with new teeth and a new tongue, having to adjust to having an extra appendage, adjusting to ears being on top of your head, having to learn how to take care of this new body

And these things can get more and more complicated, like where do the human genes end and wolf genes start? Are the any human genes left? How much of your human brain is left? How much do you remember of living by as a human? Is it all you know and now you’re stuck having to relearn everything as a wolf?

And don’t even get me started on the sensory aspects of suddenly having a new body and getting used to the fur, teeth, paws, tail, ears, etc

It wouldn’t be awful but it’d be new and probably extremely overwhelming

As a biology fan, there’s just so much that can be explored and I’m devastated that I haven’t found anything like this yet

I haven’t posted in a while and thought I’d share some random things

Lately I’ve been kind of detached from myself and I just don’t really feel like myself

I haven’t really felt close to being an animal either which I really miss

I miss the tiny things that would make me feel like a stupid little fox or horse or whatever I feel like

This is probably because of work tho

I work in retail now and let’s just say, the mask is GLUED to my face

I love tigers so much they just look like giant stuffed animals they’re so fluffy and thick like when they lie down they just look so silly I love them so much oh my god tigers are just so fucking good they are just perfect look at these guys whenever I feel particularly lazy I just feel like a big ol’ tiger lounging around

For some reason I’ve been having phantom wings lately, which is weird because none of my main theriotypes have wings

I’ve had them for a couple months and they don’t seem to be connected to any specific animal, they’re just by themselves

Not sure what kind of wings they are, other then being feathered and quite large

Usually when I have phantom limbs I can connect it to a specific animal but not this time

It’s interesting but pretty welcome

I like having wings, even if I am afraid of heights

“Phantom ears” “phantom tail”

Anyone else get phantom legs? laying down in a certain position triggers mine.

( Sometimes i feel canine legs instead of human ones. I only started getting phantom legs early last year, but had ears since I was a kid. )

Ok so I need to explain something that I’ve been doing to get it out of my head, feel free to add to this if you want

So ever since I was a kid I could not simply just be myself because I had no idea how to do that, so I adopted other people (usually YouTubers or tv characters I really liked) to copy and become. I would change how I express myself, how I would talk, and in one instance, I changed my laugh to sound more like the person I was mimicking.

This is still happening and has gotten to the point where I cannot picture myself as myself in my head but rather the person or character I have become. Like when I think of scenarios that are about myself in different situations, I’ll put the character in my place.

Is this an autistic thing?? Is this tied to masking?
